I used to not be that huge into pro wrestling, but since one of my favorite Youtubers (who I mainly watch for his music reviews) does mainly pro-wrestling videos, it's gotten me interested. Anyone know a good way to start? Any memorable matches I should definitely watch?

I don't know how much of an unpopular opinion this is. But i fairly believe that WCW in the late 80s, had really the best chance to become the number one promotion in the world.

Wrestling in the WWF/WWE in 88 and 89 was extremly kid friendly and the in ring product was mostly very mediocre, with a few exceptions. WCW really put itself on the map, with their great in ring product, great characters, like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Sting, The Rock 'n' Roll Express, The Road Warriors, etc. and it was something that everyone could enjoy, since the storylines where also more mature. WCW pretty much took it straight to WWE, when they showed their first Clash of the champions, at the same time Wrestlemania IV was airing and they showed it for free. It was by far the better show and the 45 minute match between Flair and Sting for the Title, is considered a classic these days.

The problem that occured, was that Jim Herd, who at that time was Manager of local Pizza Hut, became president of WCW, through certain connections on Ted Turners team. This guy, had no idea about the Wrestling business. He tried to pretty much emulate the WWE with over the top gimmicks, like the Ding Dongs and the Hunchbacks, totally alienating the southern NWA crowd, which is incredibly bad, because "Wrasslin" in the south was booming. He scared guys off, like Dusty Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, the Road Warriors and even Ric Flair. Pretty much giving Vince all the great Stars for free.

WCW failed to capitalize on Turners Billionaire Bank Account.

Also, here are the Ding Dongs:

I just heard in the Ross Report from our friend, JR Jim Ross, that WWE purchase of the TNA Video Library (not the promotion) is imminent. Ross himself said, that these sources are very reliable and Ross was always a guy i trusted by his word.

You know, i think this would make all parties happy. Give WWE the library for the Network, because there is some incredibly good wrestling in there, especially between 05-09, which is TNAs Golden Era.

Then give Corgan the promotion and let him rebrand everything to start a new and maybe make it better.

Everybody wins. :)

Screw the WWE and their monopolizing of wrestling.

The Great War was Match of the Night at Bound For Glory

I will not hear otherwise

I still think the Final Deletion was better than anything WWE has done for the past 3 years.

Seriously. It would put a few more millions into Corgans bank for the rebranding of his new promotion, while still keeping all the old TNA equipment and most of the Wrestlers.

But first, Dixie needs to finally stepdown, or else she alone will be at fault, for the closing of TNA.

I mean sure, from a technical standpoint, TNA will end eitherway. But with corgan it can survive in a different way.

Yeah, I don't see that happening, unfortunately.

Then TNA will go bankrupt sooner or later and the WWE will get the Library eitherway.

Is she really such a mark for herself, that she rather goes under with it, instead of seeing it thrive under Billy Corgan?

Fun fact: I once made a Leonidas CAW... and proceeded to give him a moveset of as many kick-type moves as possible.

"THIS... IS... SPARTA!" indeed.

I made One Punch Man in Wrestlemania XIX. Guess what special he has.

Something much better than Big Show's punch, at least?

Big Show's punch isn't in Wrestlemania XIX. I gave him Regal's "Power of the Punch."

Unfortunately, using it can get you disqualified in a normal match.

Ask Dixie. If she took better care of the finances, instead of borrowing money the whole time, most of which she has never paid back, TNA wouldn't be in this mess.

Why? It was never said that it's gone now. Billy Corgan will probably take over the company now, with all the equipment and most of the wrestlers. Just with a different name.

Don't say it's dead. It's more of a reincarnation that this promotion needs. They will probably get a better TV Deal out of it.

Well that all really depends on what you would enjoy in a match. Best thing to do is just dive right in, watch a bunch fo stuff and see what you like.

WWE the biggest w/ two shows held in arenas w/ big budget production. Monday Night Raw is good for beginners, or rather was. It's 3 hours and it can be a bit of a slog to get through. Tuesday Night Smackdown would be better. Two hours. More condensed. Either way, storytelling, drama & characters take focus. Meaning lots of talking and tons of build up. Matches are just a part of that. Warning: it can be cartoonish & nonsensical at times.

TNA is their competition. For now. State of the company is in flux. They do things a little different being held in a studio. Can't really comment as I don't really watch. But from what I've heard, it's a decent alternative.

Ring Of Honor airs on Saturdays & repeats on Sundays. Smaller venues. More intimate, die hard crowds. Only an hour long but very focused on the action. Reverse of WWE. Storytelling takes a back seat to the action.

If you have El Rey network (or just search on Dailymotion), Lucha Underground is a fast rising up and comer. High flying, stiff strikes and lots of hardcore violence. Here, all the feuds, drama & storytelling are filmed separately from the in ring stuff in Tellenovella drama style segments.

If you're really ambitious, look to dailymotion for New Japan Pro Wrestling. 2nd biggest in the world. Obviously it's in Japanese, but it won't really be an issue. Not much story or drama. Just tons and tons of fights, but the language barrier can be a bit off putting. There are some matches that are translated or done by an English team though.  They also co-promote w/ ROH, so you'll see talent from one appear on the other.

Or if you wanna go back in time, you can check out stuff for ECW. Low production (1990's vhs quality), held in dingy gyms. Loud, crazy fans. Very counter culture approach to wrestling in that it was more gritty, more violent w/ more realistic, as opposed to flashy & cartoonish.

It all depends upon what you find interesting. Watch a couple episodes of each and see what about the sport grabs you. Is it the charismatic characters and larger than life personalities? The dynamic, intricate storytelling & feuds? Or is it the action? Do you like seeing a martial arts brawl done IRL?

There's alot to watch. Think of wrestling as a set of TV shows that's been going on for the past 50 years.

For now, I can only show you stuff that's kept me a fan. Try finding matches from these guys:

-Ricky Steamboat

-Rey Mysterio Jr.

-AJ Styles

-Eddie Guerrero

-The Undertaker

-The Road Warriors

-Mark & Jay Briscoe

-Matt & Jeff Hardy

-The Young Bucks

-Kevin Owens/Kevin Steen

-Sting

-Jushin "Thunder" Liger

-Ultimo Dragon

-Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

-Chris Jericho

And avoid watching stuff from:

-The Great Khali

-Abdullah the Butcher

-Diesel

-John Bradshaw Layfield

-Giant Gonzales

-Batista

-Eva Marie

-Bob Sap

-Ryback

-The Ultimate Warrior

-Mabel/Viscera

-Randy Orton

-Chris Masters

-Anything TNA did between Jan. 2010 to Feb. 2011

-Anything WCW did from December 1998 to March 2001

-Anything WWE did from Jan. 1993-August 1996 and August 2004 to June 2011

(Fair warning: Wrestling can quickly switch from a very awesome thing, to a very stupid thing, and back at the drop of a hat. )

But really it's all up to you. Only you can decide what you find exciting int hat squared circle.

Dive right in.

Dive right in.

This is my last time posting here, I've said that once before but this time I'm 100% meaning it this time.

I've seen that from The Miz and he is still he's same boring self.

Wrestling can give you great fun and for me..... great heartbreak and I still feel like crap seeing my favourites treated like crap by a tyrannical company.

I can never forgive them, I absolutely despise the WWE for what they've done.

The only company that I love now is my local company, HVW.

My friends IRL make me mad, asking me out to watch WWE stuff, they know I hate it but still ask me to come and watch the crap, it makes my blood boil.

WWE has ruined wrestling for me.

I was a huge fan from 1998-2015 when I saw the worst match ever.

I'm telling you all this because.... it can crush you and hurt you.

Goodbye.
