Meanlucario 131 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 (edited) I know that this is the wrong forum, but I didn't know to put other forum this post. Anyway, My question is, what the difference between a fan of My Little Pony, and a brony. Before you say that they are the same, I think that there is a difference. And there are two reason for this. First, is a meme that I found, and when I showed it to my brother that is brony (I have two brothers, one is a brony, and the other in not a brony). This is the meme. My brother was only able to name the ones on the left, while I was able to name all of them (learned about Carrot top earlier that day). Secondly, it is that I've seen people on the internet in comments who admit to watching MLP, but denies being a brony, so I been wondering what is the difference. For me, I think that a brony is a fan who goes into the fandom, while the fan is just watch the show, and doesn't join the fandom. Any opinion on this definition on this. GenderIsAnIllusion 2,178 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 Bronies are defined as MLP FIM ans, that are male outside of the normal age demographic... No real distinction whether you know all the ponies or not. 3 My peep is against bullying.... Lucky Star 973 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 (edited) I always thought of it as someone who enjoys the show, BUT contributes to the fandom in some way. either by posting on a forum, making art, writing fics, making videos, or just being social with other bronies. the criteria is definitely up for debate, since every brony will likely have different opinion on what makes you a brony and not just a fan of the show. but the pic you showed certainly makes sense. Silver Letter 1,832 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 I think brony doesn't require anything more than a simplistic definition. Knowing semi-obscure characters like Golden Harvest and obscure ones like Sunny Daze isn't really necessary. 1 Silver Letter!!! Scooblee 121 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 But a miserable pile o- Too old? Fine. I'd just say that a brony is a fan of MLP (regardless of gender) who is generally outside of the target audience. They don't have to be, but that's who the term originally was meant for, so I'd say it's still somewhat true. 1 I does the chiptunes. Frostgage 7,982 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 I'd say anyone who is a fan of the show, outside the target demographic and wants to be one. You don't really have to know the names of some of the lesser known ponies, although it can help to gauge how big a fan you are. 1 Signature by Lacerna | You should fill out my Johari Window. ThatOneComrade 1,092 February 22, 2015 Share February 22, 2015 (edited) A Brony is a [often male] fan of My Little Pony who uses the term Brony to point out that he's not in the target demographic. There's really no need for the term but that's just how the world works, I guess Edited February 22, 2015 by Pokekid543 1 href="/monthly_02_2014/post-8308-0-69609200-1393191794.png">

I know that reference, even though I've never played that specific game (wish to, though). Also, I agree with the used of the term brony form both genders.
