You don't pay attention a lot do ya?

It is not fandom. Its scientific fact based on the mach cone that appears around her. It was mathmatically calculated by a student.

Science brother!

I don't pay attention to a lot because I didn't see the exact same video as you? Hmmm...can't fault your logic on that one. I wanted to know where you got the Mach 10 from and if you pulled it out of your arse. Turns out you didn't so that's fine.

No, It just common brony knowledge. I assume you are not a new brony when you make statements like that.

But, yes, It is not something I pulled outa my plot. The calculations could have a chance of being slightly off, but no one with better math skills has come along to prove it wrong yet.

That is fine. I'm not a new brony, no, but I'm not that involved with the fandom...I watch the show because it makes me laugh and its pretty well written but it is far from being the centre of my life. I feel like we need this:

Rainbow Dash is the fastest thing alive, and since she can perform sonic rainbooms which is I'm guessing about 5,000,000,000 times faster than the speed of light, is Rainbow Dash made of tachyon particles? Tachyon particles are what light is made out of, but unless there is something blocking its way, light never stops moving at its constant speed, but Rainbow Dash moves on her own, light doesn't, so what do you think, does Rainbow Dash break the laws of anti-physics, I mean tachyon particles aren't matter, so they're not physical.

Read some of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. Light travels much slower through a heavy magical field. This would explain much of what Rainbow can do. As for illogical, Pinkie Pie has that sown up!

Fair enough I suppose! 18 character limit.,

Since it's a cartoon that's magical, anything can happen.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

As everyone else has said, logic has no place in a world where magic is what holds the entire known universe together.  ^_^

The only logic that can be applied is the logic known by in-show individuals who know how the universe works and can apply it, like Twilight.

The laws of physics are clearly VASTLY different in EQ than they are on Earth. A lot of what they call "magic" we would call "psionic". But even so, the seasons do not change without a magic ritual to start the change (Winter Wrap Up & Fall Weather Friends), rainbows have to be made (Can't recall the episode where they are touring the weather factory & Pinkie tastes the rainbow (Sonic Rainboom?)) & ponies can kick a tree & knock off all the ripe fruit but not hurt the tree.

This doesn't even touch the question of alicorns raising the sun & moon (Princess Twilight & Twilights Kingdom)

So, I think it is just a natural law that there is a speed that, if you exceed it, you get a rainboom effect.

Rainbow Dash is a lot of things, but illogical wouldn't be the first word that comes to mind. Now Pinkie Pie on the other hoof...

Well let's just say that if you can't grasp a pegasi potentially travelling over mach speed, good look grasping how a Pink pony on foot within mere seconds can cover the same distance as said pegasi.

As ford Discord, i won't drag him into this. He's everywhere, except here at the moment.  :umad:

You are assuming quite a lot. It would only take a quick glance at Dashy in action to know that she is barely traveling as fast as a Jet much less five billion times the speed of light. The "rainboom" also doesn't generate even the most minuscule fraction of the explosive force that such speeds would create either. Its barely enough to take out a rickety barn.

A sonic rainboom is nothing more than a discharge of magical energy upon breaking what is most likely the sound barrier. Twilight did the same herself when she was super charged with Alicorn magic, and it wasn't a rainbow but in the colors of her magical aura, proving that light is NOT being shattered when she goes that fast but rather magic is being released.

So in conclusion, Rainbow Dash isn't illogical at all...well at least as not illogical as a "magical winged blue pony who can break the sound barrier with rainbow colored magical discharges" can be anyway... :squee:

Its ironically absurd because you happened to list 2 ponies who are able to match Rainbow in speed, and 1 of them handily surpasses her in in logic defiance.

Now if he were making the case that PINKIE defies anti-physics, well he would have a MUCH stronger argument. I mean what exactly IS going on with that pony anyway?

Where exactly did the speed of light come from?

I have to assume you had recently read up on various parts of quantum mechanics and wanted to appear smart by regurgitating information which you only have a tentative grasp of and which is not even related to a "SONIC Rainboom".

From 2 things:

1. It emits a blast of light aswell as a sound shockwave

2. In the cutie mark chronicles the sound is always heard before the rainbow is seen

I wanted to know where you got the Mach 10 from and if you pulled it out of your arse. Turns out you didn't so that's fine.

No, he did pull it out of his arse. The thing he showed, if it's correct (and the picture isn't - it uses an incorrect value of sin(13): the value for radians rather than degrees), means that RD was going a little over mach 2 (for the 13 degrees calculation) or about mach 5 (for the 12 degrees calculation in the video), nowhere near mach 10.
