Blizzard perked up, her black nose twitching as she smelt the air. Something was wrong.

She gently nudged the snoozing Tyra, who blinked to life. "Mmf...what is wrong, girl?"

 

She squinted her stinging eyes as she spotted the strange plant. She staggered over to it, snuffling at it.

"What are you supposed to be...?" She muttered.

Red woke at the sound of soft hoofsteps. She jolted awake, worried someone was sneaking up on them. But it was just Caliber. Good, he was back, and he seemed alright. But... where was Ice?

 

Then she noticed the bizarre plant. She edged towards it as Tyra came to it as well. It seemed to almost glow in the darkness of the forest, though it was morning.

 

It was moving of its own accord. She tilted her head slightly. "Ah, is that what the djinn were doing last night?" She wondered. "Planting this?"

Blizzard was getting sadder and lonlier as the moments went on. When morning came, he woke up, and looked around, "Ugh. Why was I out here alone..? Oh yeah, that little buck up. Well, time to see how the others are doing." he began to walk back to the camp.

 

When he got there, he saw the plants and asked, "Hey guys what's going on?"

As Ice Blizzard yelled plant moved its circle shaped head in his way,not carying for Caliber.He was quait,too quait for plant.Plant started glowing whit-blu,more then before.It was like she seen treath in Ice Blizzard voice.

Caramel woke up at the sound of Ice's voice. She started, and attempted to get up weakly, rolling over. "Oh, Luna, my legs--my legs, how they hurt me so!" She cried, then recalled the events of the previous evening. Oh, no. I hope I didn't wake everyone up. Wait, no, who am I kidding, they've probably all gone--oh. She stared blankly at the collection of ponies around the strangest plant she'd ever seen. The Fourth Best Swordspony In Equestria and the North-pony were there too. However, the fantastic cook wasn't--no, wait, there he was.

 

 

 

"Hey guys what's going on?"

 

Caramel shrugged. "Me? I've got no idea. What the bucking haystacks is that, though?" she added, pointing at the plant.

Blizzard walked over to sniff at the plant, getting its scent, then she began sniffing around the camp for more of them.

 

"I have no clue," Tyra answered truly, "Definitely some kind of plant, but I have never seen one like this before..."

 

The wolf let out a small howl to get everypony's attention, and pointed southward. Tyra trotted over and saw there were more of them, laid out on some sort of trail.

"Blizzard has found something!" She alerted the others, then patted her pet on the side, "Good girl!"

 

"If we are all ready, we should follow this trail! Perhaps it will lead us to the Djinn!"

Red noticed Ice Blizzard was back. Good. She would ask if he was alright later.

 

She trotted behind Tyra and stared out over the trail of odd flowers. She nodded in agreement with Tyra after a moment.

 

"Perhaps we should eat something, and then follow it." She said. "I'm not that hungry, but we may not get another chance to eat." If we get into a fight was left unsaid.

Blizzard saw the plants move towards him and yawned. He wasn't wxactly well rested from last night and had bloodshot eyes, as well as 'bags' uner his eyes. He rubbed them tiredly and spoke, "Ugh....what kinda trouble did you guys manage to get yourselves into while I was gone?"

 

He noticed Tyra's wolf pointing in a direction and yawned again, "Well, I for one am not in any mood to have unneccessary fights. Seriously, we ain't got time for foolishness out here. So I say, we get moving and stop wasting time eh?" he said as he calmly walked past the plants toward Tyra and Red.

"Djinn? What?" Caramel asked blankly. What are--oh, wait, djinn, she suddenly realized where she had heard the familiar word. "Ohhhh, yeah, plant ponies." she said aloud. "Why are you guys--" she processed Red's statement. "Eating! Eating sounds good." she said brightly, sitting down. "I vote for eating. Eating's great. Can we have the Icy fellow cook it? Blizzard the Second?" she asked, addressing Ice Blizzard now. "Not sure if you heard me when I said the hay thing last night was, like, blessed by Celestia."

 

She realized she'd forgotten something. "Oh, yeah, can I hang with you guys? I got nowhere else to be." She addressed the group. She was fairly sure they would allow her in--she couldn't wait to get started learning from Ticktock--but it would probably be impolite to not ask the group as a whole.

caliber had lost interest in the plant, and was munching down on some more berries he had found. "yes, yes, lets." he said, in response to red's proposal. 

 

"berry?" he held up a few. "they're raspberries. at least, i hope they are. maybe they're yew berri-"

 

his eyes widened. "uh-oh."

 

after a few moments, he shrugged, and kept eating. "like i said, lets hope."

"Aye, a grand idea," Tyra agreed, smiling widely, "It would be wise to have some breakfast before tackling this trail!"

 

She and Blizzard took a seat with the others, and looked expectantly toward Ice.

"I recall you caught some fish and some food for Blizzard, I do not suppose you have some left? It is okay if you do not, I am simply curious!"

 

Blizzard, however, was giving Ice the expectant look any dog would give somepony they know has food.

Blizzard tapped his hoof on the ground with impatience, "Yeah great. While you all gorge yourselves, we're losing daylight out here!" he thought to himself.

 

He looked inquisitively at the plant and shook his head as he turned to Caramel, "Hmph. Yeah, you guys do that. Me? I'm gonna prepare myself. I don't know if you noticed, but we're in the middle of the forest. Best to stay one step ahead if we plan to have a chance."

 

He saw Tyra's wolf looking at him and sighed, "I'm no chef guys." he said said with a fake laugh, "I'm just a foolish kid. I mean, thanks Caramel, but I'm not an expert. That was just something my grandpa used to make. I just followed a recipe. Anypony can follow a recipe. As far as fish, I have 3 more fish left." he took one of them out of his cooler near the edge of the camp and set it on the log, "But I'm curious to see what you guys could do."

 

He then walked towards the edge of the camp with his grandpa's book, "Now, I got some reading to do. Wah--oof!" he tripped over a log. Afterwards, he got up, dusted himself off, and sat at the edge of the camp and began to read.

Caramel sighed in disappointment upon Ice's refusal to cook, and watched him trip and go over to read. Clumsiness. He's not thinking straight. Seems sad about something. Looks depressed. But, she had only just met him. What did she know? All she knew concretely about him was that his cooking was way better than he took credit for, considering that she'd burned half the lot and he'd managed to rescue it. Well, the parts she'd eaten.

Deciding to let the more experienced ponies take care of Ice, she trotted over to Caliber. "You said you had some berries?" she asked. "Can I have some? Pleeassse?"

Red glanced at Tyra. "I'm going to go to him," she muttered to Tyra. "He hasn't been himself." She would ask how her visit to Caliber had gone later.

 

She moved to Ice a little cautiously to see him stumble over the log. She sat down beside him.

 

"Hey... brother." She said, her voice uncharacteristically gentle, but soft, so the others might not hear her. "You okay? You don't seem as... happy as you are normally." She nudged his shoulder with her own.

"sure, i found a bush over there." he said, pointing at a normal-looking bush. "your gonna have to dig deep to find the good ones. and watch out for spiders, they're sometimes there, hiding in the berries. and trust me, you DONT want a spider bite on your tongue."

 

he shrugged. "but other then that, these berries are quite nutritious..."

"Alright, cool," Caramel said, trotting over to the bush. She began digging with her hooves, gave up, grabbed a thick stick with her magic and began digging with that. She accidentally crushed a few berries, but found out quickly it was no waste. The bush was very fruitful--well, berry-ful. She grabbed some of the berries, scraped a spider off one, and ate them eagerly. She smacked her lips. "Delicious," she told Caliber, mildly. "Wish I'd had more of these on the road. Maybe I did," she added doubtfully, "and just didn't see 'em. So, what are you lot doing with the plant-ponies?"

Blizzard fell asleep before Red came over. He didn't get any rest last night due to not only sleeping on the cold, hard ground, but just as well, the voices in his head kept him up, and they returned. All he could hear were voices telling him how stupid he was for letting his blood fall into Scarlett's hooves, and he started to mutter in his sleep, "N-no...not...stupid....DNA..ice age..." he then was startled out of his sleep when he had a vision of everypony he knew, frozen in ice, "Ah!" he jumped up and lost his balance, backing forcibly into a tree trunk. The tree dropped a giant pile of leaves onto him.

 

He emerged from the leaves, nervous and scared, until he saw everyone was ok. "Whew."

Tyra lifted a hoof and went to say something, but was cut off by Red's insistence to talk to him. She wanted to protest, but perhaps that would be wise. "Aye, go do that."

 

She and Blizzard trotted to the log holding the fish. "Now, how did Uncle Ragnar prepare fish again...?"

She watched as the wolf simply began chewing on one of them raw. "Well, that is one way to do it."

 

She grabbed the other two by the tail and trotted to the fire, using some sticks and stones to rekindle it after a few minutes.

She spotted some long sticks nearby, which she used to create a spit. The longest one was used to skewer the fish and balanced over the fire.

 

"Perfect," She smirked, and slowly spun the makeshift spit, "Once they are cooked enough, we can add...aha!"

She grabbed some berries from the bush Caliber had pointed out, and squished them over the fish to drip the juice onto the fish. She had never used raspberries before, but they smelt good all the same.

 

Once the juice had dried and fish had cooked, she lifted the spit off from the fire and set it on the ground using her axe to decapitate the fish. Then a bite was taken.

"...mm, not bad!" She chirped.

Ice was muttering something about an ice age and then seemed to jolt awake as she spoke to him. He jumped straight into a branch and a pile of leaves fell unceremoniously on him. Yep. Something was definitely wrong with Ice.

 

Red came to Ice, brushing off some leaves. "Ice-- brother-- what's wrong." Red said, a little more sternly.

Caramel stared, horrified, at Tyra cooking the fish, her wolf watching from the sidelines. Please, don't eat that. she thought, her stomach turning. The fish finished cooking, and berries dropped from Caramel's mouth as she watched, horrified, as Tyra beheaded the fish. She looked on as, practically in slow motion, Tyra took a bite from the fish.

 

Caramel gagged and hid behind Caliber. "Dear sweet Celestia," she said weakly, "Oh, that's so weird. When I heard North-ponies were intense, I didn't realize they were this intense."

Ice was muttering something about an ice age and then seemed to jolt awake as she spoke to him. He jumped straight into a branch and a pile of leaves fell unceremoniously on him. Yep. Something was definitely wrong with Ice.

 

Red came to Ice, brushing off some leaves. "Ice-- brother-- what's wrong." Red said, a little more sternly.

Blizzard had rubbed his bloodshot eyes again before speaking, "Ugh. Nothing. I'm perfectly ok." he said as his right eye twitched uncontrollably. "Just...didn't get much sleep last night you know? Lack of sleep makes ponies weird you know? And I'm always weird so this is nothing." he said with faux confidence.

Red stared at Ice silently as he excused his odd behavior by lack of sleep.

 

"Brother, I might not know you as well as the others, but I can tell you're not alright. You left camp last night... why..?" Red questioned, gentle tone returning. She was honestly concerned. It hurt her in an odd way to see Ice so... unhappy. And not tell her why.

caliber looked at tyra, and came closer. "mind if i have a bite, or three?" he asked. "it smells delicious!"

 

he extended a hoof towards her fish. surely since they were a team, she wouldn't mind!

 

just a fish...she wouldn't miss it...

I mean I wouldn't say it's 100% safe out here, because it isn't. Hehe..." he said before yawing again, "Like I said before, just a minor case of lack of sleep. That's also why I wasn't myself this morning, you know?"

"No, I don't know." She said flatly. She began thinking about how to put this. "Now, Ice, what would you do if I started laughing and making bad jokes and running into trees all day? Would you be worried? And then what would you do if I refused to tell you what was the matter?" She was silent before adding, "what would you do if I just became a different pony one day because of lack of sleep?"
