Tyra glanced around, seeing the flowers were glowing from Ticktock's outburst. "What matter of black magic is this...?"

 

She approached one of them and gave it another sniff. Blizzard accompanied her. "Perhaps they respond to violent energy, like yelling and fighting...?"

 

She glanced to the others. "What do you all think?"

Blizzard fell out of the tree onto his back when Ticktock yelled. He looked up to see the plants getting closer, "What did you do? Dammit guys. We weren't supposed to freak these things out." he said with an angry frown, "I swear to Celestia, if those things come any closer I will unleash my secret weapon."

"Perhaps they respond to violent energy, like yelling and fighting...?"

 

Caramel saw an opportunity, and in a moment, had drawn her bow, leveled an arrow at the plant, and was grinning broadly."Hey, wanna find out?" She asked the group. She had heard the vote against harming the plant, but was bored, and threatened the plant for a couple of reasons. Firstly, she wanted to show she was not incompetent--her quickness with the bow ought to do that--secondly, she wanted to have a little fun with the group.

caliber frowned. the plants were brightening up.

 

he unsheathed his sword, and raised it. "well, lets see if they DO respond to violence..." he said, giving caramel a light bop on the head, and watching to flowers. "...maybe it has to be a bit more violent then that...."

Caramel's bow shifted midair, and Caramel quickly stowed it to avoid it dropping to the ground. "Ow," Caramel muttered. "I get it, I get it, no--"

 

 

 

he bopped caramel again, harder, and watched the plants.

 

"Ow," she said emphatically, and punched his shoulder. "Stop bopping me," she ordered him, "or I'll shoot you in the bucking head."

Red was inwardly relieved at Tyra apparently forgetting about the fish. She winced as Caliber bopped Caramel on the head several times.

 

"Ah, Caliber, perhaps that's not the best idea," she winced. "If Tyra is right, the plants might magically come to life and eat us. Or something."

caliber was starting to snicker, "im sorry, are you two the ones who adventure for a living?" he asked caramel and red. "i know what im doing!"

 

he bopped her again. this was hilarious. "yes, yes, i believe i might have the answer...a few more bops..." he said, trying to sound professional. 

 

he was bopping her with the flat of his sword.

Blizzard was getting annoyed, "Ugh! Can you guys stop acting silly for 5 minutes and focus?! Rule #1: Stay focused, stay alive. We got plants all around the perimeter which we don't even know whether or not are enemies." He looked to Caliber, "Caliber quit hitting Caramel."

 

He looked at Caramel, "Caramel stay focused."

 

"Got it? Now, what do we do about these things?"

Caramel began staring straight ahead, attempting to ignore the increasingly difficult to ignore hoofs on the head. "Ow," she said. Bop. "Owww. Owwwww." When he bopped again, her patience snapped. "OKAY THAT'S IT WE'RE GOING." She said, leaping away from him and drawing her bow and readying to shoot at him--not in the head, like she had threatened, she wasn't that far gone--but then Icy spoke.

Caramel groaned at the straight man. "Aw, c'mon mummy, we were just having some fun," she whined.

"Aye," Tyra nodded in agreement, taking another bite of the fish, "It would be best to keep our tempers under control...

 

She looked over and saw Caliber bopping Caramel with the brunt of his sword.

Tyra scowled and stomped over and pushed herself between them. "Enough with the bopping! No more bopping!"

caliber grinned, and raised his sword when caramel wanted to fight, but was quickly interrupted by tyra. "aw, buzz kill!" he said, "c'mon, we were only joking around like she said!"

 

he sat down, grumbling. "but seriously, whats the deal with those plants? i dont wanna go blind until im 27."

Blizzard's level of being irked was skyrocketing. He himself knew he would fool around at the sign of danger, but this was just straight up ridiculous, "I simply cannot believe how much time you guys are taking to fool around right now. The long while you're doing this, the plants could've attacked you guys by now."

 

He then cricked his neck and stretched, "Not me. Not this time. Come on!" he said as he stood in front of the plants, ready to fight.

Caramel had been grumbling at Tyra's interference, and grinned at this statement. "Twenty-seven? Psh! You look like you're sixty, old man!" she taunted, then changed her mind, remembering abruptly that this was the pony who had given himself the title of Fourth Best Swordspony In Equestria. "Never mind, I take it back," she added quickly.

 

 

 

"I simply cannot believe how much time you guys are taking to fool around right now. The long while you're doing this, the plants could've attacked you guys by now."

 

Caramel wilted. "Oh." she said. "Sorry." The prospect of losing him as a chef was frightening her. "Er. No more fooling around. Got it."

Tyra blinked over at Ice, who seemed to be challenging the plants to combat. She blinked, not sure whether to ask or not.

 

"All they do is glow when one of us gets angry," She explained, tilting her head, "It is not as if they can come to life and attack."

 

She looked down at a flower, sneering as she lowered her head. "Or can they...?"

Blizzard got out of his combat position and began to closely look the plants over, "You never know Tyra. Don't ever let your guard down. The very minute you think you're safe...BAM!" he said while slamming his hooves together, "You get destroyed. There's also the possibility that this plant could be a botanical subdivision of the Dijin, carrying similar genes and DNA. If that it the case, then therefore these things could become hostile at any given moment, just like the Dijin. So keep your eyes open alright?" he said sternly.

Tyra listened to Ice's words and nodded in agreement. "Aye, you are right. We can not be too careful with these plants."

 

She gave the flower an 'I'm watching you' gesture with her hoof before standing up straight.

"We should begin heading south now," She told the others, "Perhaps these flowers will lead us to the Djinn, and we can learn about them."

Blizzard nodded, and began to walk  a bit in the direction of the south. He stopped and waited for the others, "Well? Are we moving today or what?" he said while looking back, "The day ain't waiting for us. We better get going as soon as we can. Are we ready to go?"

 

"At least if they all find out and decide to shun me, I can have some moments of taking charge for once. Just as well, at least I can show them I'm capable. No more silliness from here on in. No more fooling around." he then took his Rarity magazines, pictures, everything, and threw them all on the ground and froze them, sending them all back to his house in Ponyville with a transportive ice blast.

 

"I love you Rarity. But I gotta focus for my team right now....."

 

(The transportive ice blast only works on small non-living things.)

"I'm ready to go, mummy," Caramel said drily to Ice. No, really, it was actually a suitable nickname for him--he cooked as well as her own true mother, and he was as nagging, and he was as intimidating. I mean, really, the expression on his face, she thought, watching his determined features as he forced the pictures, albums, magazines--boy, that's a lot of stuff dedicated to one mare--to disappear. She decided not to ask him what had happened to them. She didn't want her mane frozen off. "So, let us go learn about plant ponies! Let's see, I know I studied photosynthesis at some point. Er, they eat the sun, right?" she asked.

Tyra could hardly believe what she just saw. Ice, looking completely stoic and focused, two words she would never associate with him, and throwing away all of his memorabilia to his favourite pony!

 

What in the world happened?!

 

Deciding not to bottle up her concerns, she approached the earth pony. "My friend, something is wrong. You are not acting yourself, and it is concerning me."

 

She glanced over to Red, then back to him. "I do not know what you and Red talked about, but...if you will not tell us all, then tell me. I vow not a single soul will be told."

Blizzard looked at Tyra. He chuckled lightly and he took another step forward towards the southern path, "Let's just say that it's due to a lack of sleep and leave it at that hm?"

 

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't reveal the details of what he had done. All he was concerned with, was the objective ahead, "Now let's focus on the mission, and find the Dijin." he said as he slowly started to walk towards the path.

Tyra curled her upper lip in frustration. This was not the work of 'lack of sleep'. It didn't matter what the situation was; Ice would always be smiling and bouncing around like it was nopony's business.

 

He was acting like...Caliber.

It clicked.

 

"It was Scarlet, yes?" She asked, following the stallion close behind him, "She has taken something from you. By the looks of it, it must be your jovial attitude, and she will not be forgiven for it!"

She snarled, her walking becoming more of an angry stomp.

Blizzard had stopped walking. He closed his eyes and chuckled again, "You have no idea axe girl. That witch didn't take my happiness. In fact, I'M choosing to not act silly anymore for a reason: Being silly has gotten me nowhere this entire time. My stupidness has contributed nothing to this team. Therefore, the least I can do is at least act like I wanna be here, and step up."

 

He thought about telling Tyra, but he still was worried about being shunned for making a stupid decision, "My grandpa wouldn't want me acting all silly like I don't take this seriously. So now, I'm gonna fix myself, and be serious. Is that alright with you?" he said with a snarking raise of an eyebrow.

Tyra lowered her face down into a scowl, not appreciating Ice's tone.

"If you are going to 'fix' yourself," she answered, "then you will stop acting so seriously! This attitude is not what you got you this far!"

 

"The Ice Blizzard I know is happy, always smiling and knows how to cheer ponies up! I do not know who you are, but you are not the Ice Blizzard I have fought alongside these past months!"

 

She suddenly remembered something, and reached behind her, pulling out an axe. Not her own, but the one he had given her way back at the arena. Her name was still engraved on the handle.

"The Ice Blizzard I know is the one who gave me this," She continued, then looked up at him, "Your grandfather would not want you to change who you are. He would want you to be yourself, and stand by your allies--no, your friends!"

"I think... yeah, I think I'll just be quiet, walk up to this pony over here, and ask her--" Caramel leaned in close to Red--"Hey, who the hay is this Scarlet fellow?"

Blizzard shed a small tear at what Tyra had told him. But he still felt as though that his mistake outweighed andy amount of comfort talk, "You don't have any idea do you? Because of my stupidity, I made a mistake that could potentially screw up all of Equestria. And if I don't want to lose you guys, I'm gonna stop have to acting silly."
