How many of you ever had moments like these?

How many of you ever had a moment in your life where the school staff thought you were faking being ill? Well for me, it was during high school in the 10th grade:

I was making my way to art class, and suddenly i felt weak and fell over; i can't move at all. A teacher comes by and tells me to get up; demanding it. I can't even speak to her and yet she threatens to put me in detention if i didn't do as she said; i was wondering why she didn't call for help; i was going to die.

But someone else realized what was happening and called for an ambulance; they picked me up and drove me to the hospital feeding me at least 10 glucose tubes, they said after i had recovered, that my sugar levels had dropped to almost rock bottom; i don't remember what i had exactly. But I can't understand why she didn't see it, I almost died because of her mistake.

This one time in gym class we were at the pool, I was swimming and then my whole leg cramps up.  I started to have a hard time swimming and eventually, I started to drown.  No one else helped me, all they did was watch...  It took a while for someone to finally realize that I was serious and yanked me up, close enough to grab the edge of the pool.  All the gym teacher said was, "You're bad at swimming, go to the shallow end," and then went on and made it sound like I was faking to get attention.  Seriously, WTF.

Well, they didn't think i was faking, but they did fuck all.

Like two years ago, I was playing football on concrete, when i got in between two friends and tripped up and hit the back of my head XD

One of my stronger mates carried meh to medical, they literally just put a bandage round my head and called my mum. We had to get a taxi to the hospital. Waited like two hours there.

I hope that bitch learned her lesson, by the way.

Nope, hasn't happened to me.

She should have treated it seriously, then if you were seriously fooling, she'd do whatever was necessary afterwards

It's happened to me at home, but othinng as serious! Jeez. Even if someone is faking, you should at least give them a chance. But it always depends, the stunt may be pulled all the time around that teacher, and so she just thought: "Oh no... Not again!" So, let's not get too mad at her. She's just a representation of the village, in the book called: The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Btw, that sucks. I'm guessing it happened awhile back though, and that you're alright now. :)

13 years ago, yeah. But still she should have took it seriously, you can't know if they are faking or not; if you neglect them you're the one at fault.

I guess it's easier to say, when you're the victim during it all XD Not saying that's it's wrong to think like that, but that it's easier for me to look at it otherwise. But now anyways, she probably learned to not take things as they may seem, and to look at them with serious intent first and foremost. This will make me take some people more seriously as well (Although I'm usually serious no matter what, but with some it's hard since they drove me into not believing them :) ).

At first, I thought too that she could be given the benefit of the doubt, but now that I think about it, what do you risk by calling for help ? -_-

I don't really understand what's wrong with getting caught calling for help while the "victim" was only faking it, I mean, what the hay, are you going to be ashamed because you were ready to save his life ? Is he really going to make fun of you because someone was ready to save him ? The only reward of doing that is the Darwin Award.

Though, it is understandable that she didn't react immediately, as in such cases, you don't want such things to happen, and subconsciously, you would rather make anything to make it look like it's faked than actually helping. :)

In the end, some excuses and a faster reaction the next time it happens is all she can really give, it would be a shame if she does not do it, but don't blame her too hard for this. :)

Respectable to say. But remember, if it was a stunt, they'd expect to see that reaction, and may likely do it again. Which is what The Boy Who Cried Wolf shows us to be a destroyer of trust. So I'm just saying, that she had good reasons, just a bad outcome in the end. Because maybe she believed lots of other times.

In year 8 on a school trip we had to do a mountain walk lasting 11 hours! At the time I was severely unfit and was wearing hiking boots that were a size too small, with trainer socks, that I had never worn before. We got an hour into the hike and the entire bottom half of my body started to feel week. An hour later and I could hardly stand. An assistant teacher noticed this and tried to tell the head of PE, who ignored her and told me to "walk it off!" Throughout the next 5 hours I had the other kids bullying me and the teachers shouting at me cause I was in pain. When we reached the top to break for food, he isolated me from the other students who kept laughing at me and he did nothing! When the assistant tried to come over to see how I was he threatened to report her to the head when we returned. When we were decending the mountain he purposely left me on my own behind and rushed the rest of the students ahead. He then threatened the assistants job when she offered me a piggy back down. When I got back to the camping site I took off my boots I had been walking in a pool of my own blood for the past 7 hours and had 7 bruised toes and one without a toe nail!

Not me. I guess when I get sick it really shows, so no one has really ever questioned me being sick.

Can I tell an experience that is kind of related, though? Well, as in it involves a member of staff and me being sick.

I was in marching band and we went to a football game in a nearby town (although far away enough). Sometime before the game I started getting one of my bad headaches and started feeling nauseous. I communicated it to some form of staff... Probably because I knew putting on a uniform in the outside heat was just going to be a nightmare. I wasn't to march at that game, because I shared a spot with another student that year.

Not long after (still before the game) the head band director pulled me aside and gave me this speech about how my eatting habits were supposedly the cause of all of my headaches and stuff. Because I would hardly eat anything that they served to us... But this wasn't really a choice of mine, I am physically unable to eat a lot of things because of my gag reflex, which triggers at just the slightest bit of anything.

I just stopped trying, and wasn't going to begin trying in a place like this - not in front of my friends, other students, and the staff. It would be embarrassing, gross, and moreover rude to the staff who may have prepared the food.

Nevertheless he tried to make me go over there and get a burger. I think I did get one, but I *didn't* eat it. It just wouldn't work, and I knew it. Especially with a headache and feeling nauseous. If I could *ever* eat one, it most certainly wasn't going to be when I was feeling like that. >.<

Funny enough, I remember all-too clearly the student I shared a spot with running off the field right in the middle of the performance sick. I wonder if they got a talking to. Oh well... This talking to never happened again. Just... it's hard enough to have these issues, without having people be misunderstanding and scolding me.

I'm sure he meant well, but just didn't understand your problem. I would never make anyone do anything they couldn't. I've had 3 seizures, and only once it took them seven medics to hold me down so they could roll me out. I didn't remember a thing.

Yea i vomited in class and the teacher sent me to the nurse and the nurse thought i was faking it since i showed no other symptoms like a fever so she sent me back to class just to bomb it again. Nurse kept me in her office staring at me waiting for it to happen again just so she could believe me. She stared at me for 30min strait deep into into my soul until i became ill once more. Then decided to send me home now that its basically the end of the day.

Luckily, it hasn't happened to me yet.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.
