planning RP ideas!

A thread dedicated to those of us who have ideas for RPs, but don't want to manage them, and those of us who want to be DMs, but don't have any ideas.

 

The point of this thread is to post any RP ideas you might have for other members to use. Whether you're a seasoned RPer of a newfound GM, feel free to post your half-finished ideas, and maybe, just maybe, a fellow member will pick them up and make something fresh and new out of them.

 

REMINDER: If you do use someone's idea, it'd be nice to tell them, first, since they'd probably want to join. Same principle if you just wanted to expand on someone else's idea or spin off of it.

 

A few other helpful threads include this one for posing ideas for non-mlp related Roleplays, and this one for practicing as the mane six and other cast members.

 

Now, I'll start this thread off with my own half-idea:

I'd love to join an RP with a mystery theme, similar to MMMystery on the Ponyville express--but I don't want to GM it.

This time line takes place after the show ends everything that shows up in season 5 will be cannon to this now that is out the way here is the story

One day the royal sisters was killed by means of outer threat that threatened Equestrian. Luckily Princess Twilight and her friends took charge and stopped the threat. Years later the mane 6 where constantly arguing with each other about how Equestria should be ran. Unable to reach a compromise they split Equestria into six parts. Now what will happen to the once great nation will the mane 6 eventually go back to being friends or will Equestria be plugged into a great civil war.

Factions to join
Twilight: focuses on magic and brain power to rule and make sure everything runs orderly she rules over Canterlot and ponyville tries to better ponies through science. Capital Canterlot
Rarity: focuses on bettering the lower class though charity doesn't allow anything she deems uncouth or unfashionable she controls Manehatten and Detrot. Capital Manehatten
Rainbow Dash: her towns are athletes paradise with daily sports events with her having rule over the Womderbolts and a lot of Pegasi she controls Cloudsdale and LasPegasus. Capital Cloudsdale
FlutterShy: she was given lots of forest land to rule over with the help of her animal friends and the stare she calmed the Everfree forest and made it safe to roam she rules over the Everfree forest and that one village (from season 5 ep 1&2 someone needs to give it a name) Capital: Everfree forest
AppleJack: in charge of all farm lands (except Pinkie's rock farm) and Appleloosa capital Sweet Apple Acres
Pinkie Pie: she wants to rock and roll all night and party every day she hogged all of the party supplies for her part of Equestria her rule is over The rock farm she grew up on.
The society of the two sisters: a groups that wants the ideals of the two sisters in charge
The new Lunar republic: pro Luna
The solar blazers: pro Celestia
Equalist: they what to finish what starlight glimmer started. the unicorns of this group made a true rod of sameness to truly make their goal a reality

I'm not sure if this is the reason, but it sounds like your idea is pretty close to a mildly popular....universe? I'm not sure what world to use there. Anyway it's called Equestria Divided I'm not sure if you can still find the source material since I believe that PoorYorick (might have misspelled that) deleted his DA. It was supposed to be a crossover between Warhammer 40K/Warhammer and MLP. The only immediate difference is that in your idea the Sisters are dead. In Equestria Divided ithey disappeared and then various members of the Mane Six felt betrayed because the Sun and Moon continued to move without the Sisters controlling them.

 

This lead to a giant split for Equestria into 6 different factions. Each one was lead by a different Bearer of Harmony. It's a pretty grim world and there as a pretty big Roleplay for it (two of them actually, the second was a reboot). Most of the people that would play that type of RP are probably still burnt out from the reboot. And they probably have no interest in giving it a second/third try.

Also, I'm not sure if it's the type of mystery Roleplay you're looking for but a friend and I are running a RP called Bloodlines. It's a mystery RP but it's also rather dark. In fact you could probably say it's a horror/mystery RP. At the moment we aren't accepting but we're debating on opening it up to recruitment again since it seems that about three or more players have left the forums since it started. If you want to give t a look and it interests you, I'll let you know if we start looking for more players.

i have an idea but it isnt very developed. i also hate managing rps cuz im not good at moving things along. but i have an idea where all the princesses of equestria are tyrants and are making behind the scenes deals with secret private organizations who are secretly ruling equestria from the back seat. there may be some slight evidence of this such as unknown ponies speaking to he princesses. either way, this organization is new and seeks to corrupt equestria. and the only reason the princesses are fallowing this is because of some sort of blackmail. the secret organization is very powerful and the rp idea may focus arround a group of ponies who recently come to disagree with the princesses ways and revolt against them, but the princesses are forced to take the blame, and perhaps after the princesses are usurped might the main group of ponies find out they have made a terrible mistake. the secret organization could have been building up for years and might have a large military force to finally reveal that they were running equestria, but of course revealing this has no repercussions at first because they have the forces to do what they please. but there is another secret organization trying to revolt against it. 

 

this idea is very similar to the very first mlp based roleplay i ever took part in. it lasted months and at first the princesses and this secret organization had nothing to do with eachother. it wasnt on mlp forums and it had nothing planned out about it either. we just winged it the whole time but it turned out to be really good. me trying to use this idea is just me trying to re-create my glory days because i havnt had much luck with roleplay ever since ;-;

I would kinda like to see an rp that takes place while the three tribes are finally coming to peace. So sometime after that blizzard. I think it would be a good chance to maybe explore where bat ponies and even the two sisters came from. However it's just a vague idea and I don't feel like running a rp.

Before the formation of Equestria, the 3 pony races are living in peace but separately and the Griffins have a conspiracy where they cause the three pony races to go to war against each other and become weak from all the fighting until theee Griffin kingdom can easily swoop in and wreak havoc on the ponies who they hate.

 

Perfect planning from the Griffins but a small band of ponies from all three races uncover the truth about what is going and now have to fight together to save the ponykind from extinction at the hands of the griffins
