What is a good free music program for pc?

I was looking for a good program to use, and wanted to ask what programs you guys use. You have experience, I'm sure you all know good ones

Schism tracker is a fun piece of software for chiptune or techno. http://schismtracker.org/wiki/Schism%20Tracker

 

The free version of Fl studio 11 can be used for most other genres. You'll have to do a few things differently since you can't open saved project files. http://www.image-line.com/flstudio/

 

If your interests are acoustic, try using audacity. It's minimal, but plenty if you're just recording guitar and voice. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
