Is season 5 better thought out?

Parkinson called it "negative infallibility".  It seems if I like an episode, no one else can stand it & vice versa.  IMO, this season is the weakest season so far.  The episodes haven't been bad, exactly, but it sure ain't been worth waiting a year for them.

I think that season 3 was the most seriously under rated season ever, it had its problems but I don't think is nearly as bad as people say it is though part of may be due to favorite pony bias on my part with Applejack getting so much well deserved love that season and my favorite episode of the entire series (Apple Family Reunion) being part of season 3. Season 4 on the other is the most overrated season ever with most episodes either being meh or being outright crappy though it has the saving grace of a few really good episodes like Pinkie Apple Pie, Pinkie Pride, and Maud Pie for example.

 

Season 5 so far isn't that great, the premier was good though I am yet to see a blatantly bad premier. Castle Sweet Castle was meh, Bloom and Gloom was passable though the CMC episodes are getting ridiculously repetitive which makes me think it is well past time they finally get their cutie marks. Tanks for the Memories is the worst episode of the season so far, an even worse Rainbow Dash episode the the craptacular OOC fest of Rainbow Falls from season 4 and the second worst of the entire series with one of the dumbest and most poorly executed premises for an episode I have ever seen. Appleoosa's Most Wanted was thankfully much much better, still not without its flaws but was a decent episode that introduce a character with a lot of potential. It is still early in season 5 though so we will have to see how the rest of it plays out.

I think you're right, overall. However I did feel they missed the mark a bit with Tanks For The Memories. Don't get me wrong, I liked the episode, I just thought the emotions in it were very, very strange.

I haven't really hated any seasons, since I like to look for the positives in episodes. Season 5 does seem to so far have a more down to earth emotional feel. Season 3 tried to pull that off, but didn't really hit the mark. 

 

Season 4 seems like a very love or hate season (that I personally liked), because it seemed like the season made for bronies. Some might argue season 3, but season 4 really did it more and heck, I'm not even against that as long as it works in the story.

 

Season 5 seems promising so far. My only issue is the episodes I find good I wouldn't say are favorite episode material. But hey, we're only 6 episodes in. And heck, that's what I say about season 1.

I'm surprised season 3 gets as much hate as it does. For me I think season 2 had overall the fewest I'd want to go back and watch. I think season 1 and 4 were best behind the current season, but then I didn't ACTUALLY wait a year between seasons... I jumped in a month before this season started
