The standalones are Hope, Dreams, Love and Balance.

 

They are capable of a 1/4th strength version of the Harmonic Strike of the elements of harmony. It is one fourth as powerful as the six elements combined. They can also boost the power of the elements of harmony or take the place of any one element in the set. Beyond that they do nothing.

 

The conditions to be a stand-alone element are must be able to show all six traits for the elements of harmony and possess a greater show of the required trait for that element.

 

In the case of Amorè, She shows love in greater form while still showing the six traits of the normal elements.

 

The uncurruptables are also stand-alones bit they are the guides to the elements and stand-alones.

 

I only remember three of the four. Glory, Perseverance and Sacrifice.

 

They grant abilities based on their trait, GM choses powers given, on top of the powers granted to the Stand-alones. The conditions for this group are the six traits, the four stand-alone and one of the traits for the Uncurruptables. Must also possess a connection, of some kind, to the original bearer of that element. The connection doesn't have to be directly to the original bearer, GM can create acceptable connections to the bearers.

Are the standalones based off of the powers possessed by the show's current Alicorns?

 

Hope for Celestia, Dreams for Luna, Love for Cadence, and Balance for Twilight? (Which'd mean Twilight had both a standalone -and- an Element...)

Stand-alones come in at a later time. They appear when the Flame of Harmony can't normally beat the foe.

 

But in this case neither the Rainbow of light or the Flame came into being. So the stand-alones come in as a balance for the current state of power. Usually Balance would show up first sense it is the technical leader of the stand-alone elements.

 

Celestia, Luna, Cadence and Twilight have never known about the stand-alone elements. They are even a forgotten piece of history. That is until they appear.

 

Once the stand-alone elements appear. It is only the bearers that know about them. The force that chooses the bearers also reveals the history and how to use the stand-alone to its new bearer.

I got ya. I was just informing HigurSon ab out those elements.

 

In another note the uncurruptables are another mater. They are beings to whom Chaos and other darknesses hsve tried to gain their good favor and allyship but have never been able two. This is why the incurruptables have said name. Because not even a reality warping god can touch them and force them to be what they aren't.

 

The uncurruptables are the technically most powerful of the elements and don't usually appear until even the stand-alones can't beat the darkness aiding the elements of harmony.

Stand-alone elements are something of a small headcannon. Despite their name, they can't really stand alone from the others. They are just able to act, when not all the elements are gathered. It was said to be apart of their abilities to be able to take the place of any one other element and still allow for the elements to be at full power. Stand alone Elements are not to be treated as a separate part but as guardians for the elements.
