Alex groaned a bit as the griffon nudged her shoulder. Shifting a bit, the canine slowly opened her eyes to see Lunar standing above her. "...Oooh.. Right... The Nightshift thingy..." She mumbled. Yawning a little, she took off her make-shift blanket and got on all fours on the floor as she stretched herself out like any ol' dog would do.

 

Once she felt she'd stretched enough, she grabbed her cloak and readjusted it onto her person before following after the griffon. "So, I'm guessing the whole, changing the bandits ways thing worked well, huh?" She asked. "Sorry I wasn't really there the whole time, but from the way the guy came out, his spirits seemed to have shifted greatly." Her tone wasn't as cheerily over the top like usual, but more of a calmer, conversational level, especially considering her discomfort during that situation as well as the small... dispute, Lunar and Chrysteel had with one another.

Once the two for the second shift were awake, Radiant nodded at them as he passed them. "It's been quiet so far so shouldn't have much to worry about." He said walking over to the side of the room away from the stairs. He took a corner no pony else was sleeping in and laid down. It didn't take him long to pass out.

Lunar nodded. " I think were really did encourage him a and give him a chance to change. He has done bad things, yes, but it was all to protect his remaining family from harm, what I gather. Hopefully by now he is on his way to a better life, to feel and see more happiness coming his way." Lunar said, looking up at the sky with a bright smile across his face. He rally hoped that the Pegasus would convince his brother that life could be so much better, and bring down a new path.

 

He looked over to Alex, " And sorry about that. Using a spell like that irks me. IT dosent change him, it just pushes him out of the way. His life would have been no dfferent, but now, he not only got away from us and we didnt get hurt, but I think he has another chance at life" Lunar said, giving a smile, " Second chances are a great new start for some ponies."

Chrysteel says, "What if all you knew were spells like those?"

 

She walks over to them, "Couldn't sleep, too hungry. May I join yall?"

 

Amorè takes another drink of her flask. She then sits near them. She looks up to the sky. "Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you weren't born a monster, as most put it? We Vamponies are usually called that. I hate it. One moment the world is your closest friend, the next they try to kill you."

"Hmm..." Alex listened intently to what Lunar said, nodding her head to show that she was listening. At his pause when he looked up at the sky, the canine almost was about to make a reply before he looked back at her and apologized.

 

"Oh, no. Its fine. I'm not really immersed with all that magic mumbo jumbo... well, except for maybe Discords when I passed through Ponyville not to long ago." She said, waving a hand around in the air. "But still. Most magic just kinda makes my fur go up. Though my innate skill at finding gems back home had the pack barking up a storm over how 'magical' that seemed." She couldn't help but smirk at that. "But back on topic. I'm glad to hear that you were successful in helping somepony out. I'm still hoping to do that myself. I was told once that laughter is the best medicine. So that's mostly what I've been trying to do. But I dunno... Sometimes I—" She stopped mid-sentence when she suddenly noticed Chysteel sit down to join them. How long had she been listening in?

 

"Uh... Well..." Alex hesitated, following the pony's gaze towards the sky as she tried to find a way to respond. "I-I've been called a lot of things before, quite a few of them were fairly uh... negative... But I've never been called that particular word before... I dare say that I can sorta relate to what you're saying from the example you said... Though it wasn't because of magic or other... vampony relating things that brought up that kind of hate..."

 

Alex was starting to feel fairly awkward again, just like earlier. She wasn't quite sure how much Chrysteel had heard about her opinions on magic... It wasn't meant to be directed towards her, and it wasn't that she hated magic, she was just new to it... Hopefully that didn't effect the mare's opinion over the diamond dog's statement.

Amorè asks, "Nervous? Well don't be. I aim to show the world my kind ain't all it is cracked up to be. Deep down I feel we were once widely accepted by all. Something must have happened to change all that."

 

Amorè says, "I think it is good to learn new things, magic included. If you ask me. I need to work on my speaking skills. Never had much practice. But I just want the world to love me as I love the world. I care too much to see such things happen. To be ridiculed just because your different."

 

She continues to stare at the sky, "We had a changeling patrol pass by twice, sense me and Radiant got back. They don't detect us but I can feel their hunger. Instincts never lie. They just as hungry as I am right now. Hopefully this elixir can keep it at bay for a while longer."

Lunar looked to her, and smiled at her. I would never think differently of you, based on what you are. Many cultures consider what I am, a griffin, to be an abomination. A monster. We divide ourselves on such petty things in this life sometimes" He says, giving her a smile," and as for the spell, even then I would not use it. It's not the right way to change someone who needs a change in their life."Lunar said, before cracking his smile wider, " Ponies may not always be trusting of us non- ponies, but the group back there does not seem too care, and I find that refreshing and kind of them, though it should be normal not to judge on ones species" He said

Amorè says, "Yea but if one pony dies in a way that says, 'Hey, I died from being bitten!', then they all turn to the only known one with a killer bite. We Vamponies became a bad myth because of crap like that."

 

She then thinks for a moment and says, "Thanks though. Maybe one day I can trust yall enough to tell ya my whole story but not now. I still don't trust ya yet and I don't trust these two I keep feeling. They must really hate certain kinds of beings."

 

Amorè yawns and says, "Goodnight. Thanks for understanding. But remember I may do stuff yall don't approve of, but it doesn't mean I don't have the right intentions at heart. If I had acted sooner, we would have not had to fight at all and spill needless blood."

 

She goes back to her spot and goes to sleep finally.

"Hmm..." Alex hummed intently as she listened to the others. She then turns to look back at Chystall as she leaves. "Don't worry about it Chryseel. Take all the time you need. Trust doesn't usually just happen in one day. It has to grow and all that jazz." She gave the mare a cheerful smile. "Just know that we're here if ya wanna chat again. And hopefully it doesn't have to involve all that... ya know.. Tragic, death stuff..." Her smile quickly faded after saying that and she turned away, clearing her throat, awkwardly trying to brush over her last statement. "Night Amoré..."

 

'Well that was kind of a sour way to end a conversation... What were you thinking!?' She nagged to herself. 'Mmh..... I need something to distract myself for a while..... Oh!' Digging into her bag, she ripped off a chunk of her cotton candy cloud that she'd obtained the other day. Lifting it above her head, she opened her mouth and squeezed the pink cloud, droplets of chocolate came out of it as a result as she let the sugary taste pass through her jaws. After a few gulps, the canine shifted to nibbling the delicious treat, hoping to make it last for the remainder of the night without having to continue any more conversations.

Lunar nodded and gave a smile. " Trust is like a tree, at first, it is small and fragile, but with water and care, it grows big, strong, and beautiful, ready to shade those whom helped it grow" He said, giving a smile to the vampony as she walked away into the shelter again, " Have a good night, Amore" He said with a smile, before hearing A;ex's response to her. He looked over to the diamond dog and tilted his head oddly. " Well, ok then" he said giving a slight chuckle.

 

He gave a stare at the cotton candy treat she had gotten earlier. He rarely ate them, mostly out of his hatred of them obstructing his ability to fly at higher altitudes, but he had to admit that they were a nice treat every now and then. " Excuse me, alex, would you mind if I had a tiny piece ? No problem if now" he smiled too her.

"...Hmm?" She glanced over at Lunar. "Oh! Yeah, sure! It's no problem at all" Alex replied with a nod, going back into her bag and pulling out another piece of cotton candy and holding it out to him. "I can always get more the next time I go into Ponyville. It's not like they're going anywhere anytime soon." She smiles a bit at that before going back to her own cotton candy snack, returning her gaze forward to resume their lookout shift.

Even though it was early morning out, nearly no light could be seen in the basement that every pony had taken shelter in. Radiant awoke slowly rising off the ground noticing not many were awake. As he was on all four hooves he made his way to the stairs walking up them and eventually came to the top to find Alex and Lunar. He nodded to them "Good morning you two." He said continuing to walk past them a few feet.

 

Radiant came to a stop a short distance away from the other two and patted the dust out of his fur from sleeping on the floor. He turned back to Alex and Lunar. "I'm assuming everything was quiet last night?" He asked to get an idea if anything happened through the night.

"You're right there," Strider agreed with Peyton's flattering description of the adventure log. "You're descriptions were enlightening. I especially enjoyed your description of the monsters of the Everfree--they're probably the only thing that has become less violent over time, with more room to roam." Strider said. "I love imagining the cities and towns you describe--without Changelings, or centaurs, or other dangers." He fell silent, musing on this, a half-smile of daydreaming on his features for a moment.

"Anyway, let's eat and head out. We have quite a bit of traveling to get done if we want to make it to the Badlands within a couple days," he said, sitting down and pulling some hay towards himself, eating it quickly out of necessity. It felt especially dry after the delicious meal of last night, but it wasn't bad.

As the night went on and her resistance to want to start up another conversation, while her usual personality wanted to so badly, she grew more and more bored by the minute. After what seemed like forever, her ears perked up at the familiar voice. The canine glanced towards the entryway of the stairs where the unicorn stepped out from. "Oh! Radiant! Good morning!" She greeted cheerfully, jumping up from a seated position to all fours, her tail wagging with excitement. Finally glad for an excuse to use her stored up sugar rush. She watched him eagerly as he walked past them a few steps and after a pause, looked back at them.

 

"Oh yeah, everything was totally quiet." She replied. "It made it an easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy shift." Alex grinned, trying her best to maintain herself, but the fast shuffling of her paws, the excitement in her eyes and the wagging of her tail clearly showed that she wanted to run around a bit. "You sleep well?"

Tyra blinked her eyes open and smacked her lips as she awoke, on her back in a starfish position. She rolled onto her front and let out a long loud yawn as she stretched her limbs and shook herself.

 

"Aahh, a good rest," she smiled, grabbing her 'sun-cloak' as she called it, and put it on before exiting the basement to see Lunar, Alex, Amore and Radiant.

"Good morning, friends!" She greeted them with a toothy grin.

Radiant tilted his head at Alex. "easy-peasy-lemon squeezy?" he repeated questionably never hearing such a comment before being raised in a shelter life. He understood it from its context. 

 

"I suppose I did." He said as he noticed Tyra had appeared at the top of the stair case. "Good morning." 

 

Radiant inspected Alex seeing that she was hyper and ready for something to do. Radiant returned his gaze to meet her eyes as he took his bag off with his magic setting it on the floorboards beside him. "So I should do a morning exercise... Alex would you like to join me for a run?" He questioned turning himself to leave the house.

Amorè was awake but doesn't look very active. She looks like she could use more rest. "Dang elixir."

 

She looks to the others. As she thought none of them have what she needs. She might be able to form a bond with a few of them but not yet.

 

"Hey. I'll be right back. Got to go and find me a bite to eat. I will be back soon hopefully." She says before leaving to find somepony with what she needs.

 

Once away from the others, She says, "Dang elixir. Your not doing it for me any more. I need to find somepony willing to give me some love energy."

 

She looks around the place hoping to find at least one who she can make a deal with for some love energy. "6 weeks and the potion only works for 5 of them. Dang it."

 

She also stays clear of those two hearts that hate changelings. She looks around town hoping to find one being.

"Yep!" She piped up when Radiant repeated her. Alex then turns to glance over at Trya when she makes her appearance. "Hey Tyra!" She greeted, still feeling really giddy and anxious to do something, anything!

 

"Oh my gosh. Yes please!" She blurted out, almost immediately looking back at the stallion. If she weren't so excited at the moment she would have blushed at making such an outburst, but she was just too excited to care about that at the moment. Alex quickly unclipped her cloak, removed her cuffs, her satchel as well as her belt and weapon, tossing them on the ground beside her.

 

This left her only with her vest and bow tie, which, now exposed in the daylight made the gem at it's center much more visible. "Lead the way!" She beamed, feeling as though if he didn't start running now, she would explode!

LUnar sat in the corner, curled up in a soft fuzzy ball of fur and feathers, asleep. He had always been a deep sleeper, able to sleep through a lot. His tail shifted and swished around, still somewhat active as he entered a lighter sleep cycle. Soon enough though, he opened his eyes to everyone, giving them a  wide smile. " Good morning, my little ponies and my other friends" He said, standing up and yawning, his back making a loud " CRACK !", " It seems to be yet another wonderful morning." He gleefully said.

As Radiant made his way out of the house with Alex he turned back to Lunar. "good morning Lunar." He said soon disappearing around the corner of the house as his hooves dug into the dirt and he kicked off leaving a small cloud of dust from where he pushed off.

 

Radiant begun dashing down the road and glanced over his shoulder to see if Alex was following after. "Never raced a canine before... this is sure to be a good morning run especially with the level of energy she has right now..." He thought to himself continuing down the road not quite at his top speed yet.

Tyra tilted her head as Radiant and Alex ran off, then Amore went on her own way, leaving her alone with Lunar.

 

Pulling the hood over head, folding back the wings on her helmet, she turned to the griffin.

"What do you suppose she shall do now?" She asked him, glancing around the ruins of Appleloosa, "I personally would wish to begin fighting for the freedom of this land as soon as possible."

"For now, we need to just get up. I hear this place once had a saloon and a food store area. Maybe we can look for some tea leaves and other consumables ?" Lunar asked to Tyra, giving her a smile, " It would also give us some time to chat, and it's rare that I get to meet another person, and especially rare I meet one from the north who isnt trying to chop me in half" He said, walking over too Tyra.

Alex was so eager to get started, jumping up and down as she followed behind the unicorn. At the sudden 'Crack' her ears perked and she looked over to see Lunar begin waking up. "Mornin' Lunar. Sorry, can't talk much. Gotta run!" And with that she burst out the door in hot pursuit of Radiant.

 

The fresh breeze passing through her fur as she rain was exhilarating and she couldn't stop her instincts from sticking her tongue out from the rush of her excitement. With all that sugar she'd eaten earlier, it didn't take long before she caught up to, and even zoomed past the stallion she was running with.

"Damn! I knew canines were fast but... damn!" He exclaimed kicking it into overdrive as he tried to catch up to the canine. 

 

Even as it looked like he was going to lose this race for sure he still enjoyed the run. The wind blowing through his gold mane as the end of his red scarf fluttered in the breeze behind his head. Radiant was slowly closing the gap but he knew Alex had for more energy to spare then he did. 

 

Trails of dust could be seen erupting from their heels as they pushed off the ground with every step in their run. With his expression still locked on it's stoic default he continued after Alex still slowly catching up.

Chrysteel continues to look around. She is starting to dought that she will be able to find someone willing to give her some love energy. "Most don't even take into account I am half changeling. They need to really learned the difference."

 

She grew quiet as Alex and Radiant got close. If they looked they would see Amorè looking a bit down. Radiant would know why, but Alex wouldn't.
