*Radiant*

 

Radiant turned his attention to Amore. "Do what you must, but don't feel obligated to do something that makes you uncomfortable as well as if you feel unsafe feel free to retreat." He stated looking forward to the roads again. "This is a dangerous situation and I want you to try and remain safe." 

 

In the distance Radiant could see something high above the roads flying in their direction, the being had long wings and pronounced talons. It was obviously a griffin to those who inspected the figure in the distance, question was, was it Lunar or a foe. Radiant stood on his hooves keeping an eye on the figure just in case.

 

 

*Lunar* 

 

Soon Lunar descended from the sky and begun lowering himself to the ground near Radiant and Amore, with each flap of his large wings erupted a small cloud of dust from the ground. He finally set his talons on the ground and looked to the two. "My friends I have returned with several sketches of the city ahead of us as well as the outlying roads." He chimed looking between Radiant and Amore, knowing well that it was intended for Amore to go in next.

"At last," Strider said, standing up and trotting over to the griffin. He had been mostly occupied with watching the drawing of Ironeye--it was completely unique to anything he had ever seen, and resembled some kind of spell from one of the old spellbooks--and then chuckling quietly at Tyra's... unique creation. "What did you find, Lunar?" He glanced at the sketches. "Well, the bandits don't appear very organized," he added after a moment. "This might end up going well after all."

*Lunar* 

 

Lunar took his bag off his back and placed it on the ground before, as he rummaged through his bad looking for his appropriate sketches Radiant assisted him by using a light spell so they could all see what Lunar had to present. "My thanks to you Radiant. Now there is much that meets the eye in this city, some that seems hidden and more so that assault the the sense of smell. I do not jest when I say the smell alone nearly removed me from the skies above." Lunar said as he finally found his sketch of the city and laid it out before them.

 

"Overall the city wraps around a high standing plateau. The city itself appears to be split into tiers, the ground tier seems to be poorly maintained as well as it is in disarray. The roads are nearly nonexistent, many areas just have wood planks laid across holes that cave into the river below... this river also appears to be what they use to dispose of sewage, so I'd avoid the water. However it houses most of their trade as well as a large Colosseum, possibly used to punish usurpers as well as entertainment. Next is the plateau, it has structures build atop the flat surfaces. This area seems to be the richer area of the city and on the very top surrounding an extravagant fountain is five structures, each with a banner of each faction. So it's safe to assume these buildings are where the leaders reside." Lunar stated pausing for second. "Now there are caves that lead inside the plateau, I know not what is down there and seeing the condition of the ground level I'm almost fearful to find out." 

 

"Lastly there are three exits, each with a pair of guard platforms. The platforms have six ponies stationed on each as well as a surplus of weapons to be used in defense of the walls." Lunar warned looking back to Amore. "There also seems to be conflict all through out the streets my friend, fights and pickpockets alike, so please be cautious while to traverse this city."

Ironeye Sungazer

 

"I understand enough of it," she replied neutrally, doing her best to dampen any hostility that might creep into her voice. "Not worth trying. Wrong place. Wrong time." She tapped one of the center runes on the diagrams. "Only thing giving me trouble is this. I've seen it before, just don't know what it signifies. It seems to show up a lot on certain kinds of spells. I've never tried them. They always use so much magic that it'd be like sending up a beacon." She hooded her eyes. "And I imagine that whole bit with the Element earlier has already painted targets on our backs." She shrugged at the mention of the book. "I'd rather have the book itself. I'm not... the best student. And however old you are..."

She looked Amore in the eye. "We wouldn't get more than a couple of days before bad things boiled over. Just the way things are." Her eyes turned out to look into the night. "I've been alone for... most of my life really. There were a couple of ponies who took care of me early on... But they stabbed me in the back in the end. That's been the case with everypony I've ever met. All I had and have is my magic." Her baleful eye turned on Amore again. "And, regardless of your reasons however valid or selfish they might be, you're keeping that from me." She stabbed the dirt with the stick, ruining the sigil mentioned earlier. "I can't get over that. Best I can do is keep enough distance so that we can get to wherever we're going, whatever there is planned. After that... I don't know."

 

Her attention turned to Tyra. "It's a spell, a schematic for one. Kind of. Not complete. Can't be cast. Missing components." She craned her head to look at Tyra's picture, eyes narrowing as she tried to make out what it was. "It's... a centaur? That big one that's mucking everything up? He breathes fire, or something like that. I think." She levitated her stick and scratched out his eyes with X's, before giving a wry grin. "Would be nice if it was that easy, put everything were ponies could... just have a life I guess." She glanced up to look Tyra in the face. "So, why are you with the parade here? I'm curious how this lot got together." She listened as Lunar described the city.

 

"Sounds like the entire area would be improved, if somepony just dropped a big fireball from the sky on it. No point in poisoning the water, if -that's- what they're doing to it."

Radiant listened intently to Lunar's description of the city as he kept his light spell focused on the sketch of the city that was laid out on the ground before him. He was use to poor living conditions but not that poor, he was surprised that any pony could survive in such a place let alone be able to fight and raid. 

 

As Lunar finished his description and begun returning his sketch to his bag, Radiant dispelled his light spell and turned to look at Iron eye when his eyes were caught and drawn to Tyra's drawing. It was a drawing one would expect from a carefree foal, he  found it refreshing to see one who was so young at heart even while she resided in such a dismal world. Those next to Radiant could hear the slightest snort of amusement released from his nostrils as he gently shook his head. "Tyra you are one of a kind." He said returning his gaze up to Ironeye.

 

"As I've stated once before, you can put your trust in me Ironeye Sungazer. I will protect my allies with my life and I will stand beside you." He vowed throwing his hoof to his chest. "That is if you methods are agreeable."

 

Radiant set his hoof down into the dirt and turned back to Strider, Amore, and Lunar. "Should I accompany Amore and remain outside of the city in case she needs assistance, I'm possibly the best one for such a task because of my defensive spells." He suggested looking across the small group. "That is in a case where I go charging in to rush her out."

"Well, it was meant to be a dragon," Tyra admitted, tilting her head, then added with a smirk, "But aye, I agree. We shall destroy that wicked demon one day, yes?!"

 

"Oh, it is quite a tale," She grinned to Ironeye, "We all met in Appleloosa by chance! Somehow, we all grouped up there, and decided to team together!"

She let out a wide, toothy, goofy grin at Radiant's comment. "I have been told that a lot! My thanks, friend!"

 

Her tail flicked cheerfully; she was becoming more accepted into the group! Perhaps she may have a chance this time!

She made a mental note to try and bond with Radiant when she had the chance.

caliber had dozed off, for a moment, and he snapped awake. "wha...who..."

 

he noticed tyra's drawing. "oh hey! that reminds me of daria's drawing-"

 

he broke off suddenly, but went for a grin, anyways. "thats a pretty nifty drawing, tyra!" he said, "how long did it take to draw that?"

Red had mostly been eying the map.

 

"I guess Amore should go in alone, to avoid as much attention as possible. Amore, you need to look out for the bandit leaders." she said, glancing at her before quickly looking away. "Do you want any pony to go in with you? Just in case? Or do you think that you've got it?"

Amorè says, "I have an idea. However it requires a small group. But for this first run, I should go in alone with yall near by to help me. Just incase things go south."

 

Amorè looks to radiant and then to red. "If Radiant and or red wishes to come they may but your attire will need to be changed. Sense the bandits may already know what we look like."

Radiant looks to Amore. "I will accompany you, less will be easier to conceal. As to changing attire I will merely conceal myself outside the city so I will remain out of sight." He suggested looking back to Red. "Perhaps you should hang back Red, you are young and don't have to put yourself at risk."

 

"Do we have any form of signal in case it is needed?" He asked looking across the group. "I can't go into the city with Amore but being separated we will need some way to communicate if she is in danger."

Amorè says, "I can cause the ponies to fight amongst eachother. While sending a blinding flash of spell light. This will give a distraction and a signal. It will also reveal my location. Hopefully I won't have to cause pain and hopefully the use of magic will make them panic as well. But I don't wish to hurt others if I can help it."

"Oh, perhaps I may accompany Amore!" Tyra squeaked, hopping onto her hooves with a wide excited grin, "If anypony should give her any trouble, I shall return it tenfold, yes?"

 

She smirked deviously while punching her forehooves together. She would certainly be civil, but if anypony threw the first punch, she would return it swiftly.

Radiant looked back to Tyra. "No pony is going in with Amore, she can disguise herself to look like another let alone it's possible they know what we all look like. Most of all your northern accent is too noticeable and will instantly show you don't belong." He stated trying to explain to Tyra why she shouldn't go. "Let alone whoever goes will be sitting outside the city in hiding for an unknown time, do you have the patience to do such a thing Tyra?"

 

Radiant glanced back and retuned his gaze to Tyra. "Let alone I'm the best choice for such a mission because I have at my disposal defensive magic to protect Amore and myself against a possible army of bandits." He said looking back to Amore and Strider. "I will leave it up to the group, those are merely my opinions. I rather not risk others when I can go in their stead."

"You're right," Strider said after a moment to Radiant, "It's probably best that you do go in alone. The more of us there are, the more likely we are to get caught. We will all stay back here. Don't worry, Tyra, you will almost certainly have a chance another day," he added to the mare.

 

@@Midnight_Aurora,

 

"Amore," he said, turning to her, "If you encounter a danger to great for you and Radiant alone--which, hopefully, won't be likely, but it's a possibility--then flash your signal twice, or high into the air. This way, we can catch it and come to help. We will most likely have to fight our way through, but we can return another day if this occurs. So," he added, looking at everyone else. "Does anyone object to the plan?"

Lunar nodded his head. It looked like his scouting would pay off for the plan in the long run. It would also mean he had time to rest and meditate, perhaps connect with the spirits of the area for awhile. It would be quite a relaxing time for him really. " I believe this plan will work well, just remember, a sleeping dragon may not seem dangerous, but awaken his wrath and very little will stop you from being fried. Stay alert and stay alive out there" He said to the team that would head out. He hoped, that during this time, he could possibly also learn more about several of his companions. He did love stories.

Amorè nods, "I have a different one for that. You will know it when you see it. Hopefully it will also scare the enemy as well."

 

Amorè looks to those going. She makes sure her supplies are set and then says to those that are going, "Are you Ready for this?" She then turns and steps towards the city but not farther then the camp's edge, waiting for the others.

Radiant nodded to Amore and followed after her. All his supplies were already on his back and he had been ready to depart once he offered to Accompany Amore. "The rest of you all should stay but keep your attention toward the city so if something does happen you can provide back up." He said tuning to the group. "If that happens then it is a rescue mission, we will focus on saving our team member and getting out. we will not try to take down the city when all the bandits are already active and battle ready." 

 

Radiant walked up beside Amore, "shall we make our way to the city?" He asked gesturing his head to the path.

Tyra simply parked her rump back down on the dirt, pouting at how Radiant had turned her down again.

She could try mimicking a local accent if she wanted to. Besides, what situation would require her to speak?

 

She crossed her forelegs and puffed out her cheeks, much like a foal who had been told to share her favourite toy.

Lunar looked over to Tyra, and gave a slight smile. " Worry not Tyra, you will have your chance soon enough. And I feel it will be more to your...tastes. Would you rather walk around, talk, and act strange, or would you rather wait a bit and get to bash heads in ? If you wait long enough, that which you wish will reveal it's self too you" Lunar said too her, hoping to make her feel a bit better.

caliber had no idea what to do.

 

normally, he'd just waltz through the city, and hope for the best. maybe fighting one or two, and getting run out.

 

but, he reminded himself once again, he's in a group now. and he certainly wasn't the leader.

 

"so...anyone wanna socialize?" he asked, as he laid down.

Red sighed, sitting down. She should sleep. She needed it. But she was restless. And a little concerned about Radiant-- and Amore, too.

 

"Yeah," she said, forcing herself to relax slightly, grinning at Caliber. "Let's socialize." She nudged Tyra, a little concerned for her. Tyra seemed like such a cheerful pony, Red didn't want to see her sad.

Tyra glanced up at Lunar, heeding his words. She blinked and said with a slight grin, "I would honestly like to do both. Talking silly while bashing heads sounds rather fun!"

 

She looked to Red, who'd gently nudged her.

"Socialize?" She repeated, cocking her head to the side, "Does that mean talking? I would be happy to talk!" Her grin grew much wider, already feeling better.

 

The fact that Lunar and Red were willingly striking up conversation with her was really uplifting.

Strider sighed, watching Radiant and Amore leave. He was already worrying, and was relieved at Caliber's suggestion of socializing. "Good idea," he said to Caliber, then walked over to one of the more curious members of the group.

 

"You said something earlier that's been troubling me," he said to Ironeye, then amended himself. "Well, no, you said several things that have me curious, but mostly, you said that you couldn't try activating that spell because it would be like... activating a beacon? That implies that something's chasing you, or your magic. I've never heard of such a thing--well, actually, I hadn't heard of anypony keeping their magic until I came across this group. Is there a group chasing after magic?" he asked.

Radiant nodded to Amore and followed after her. All his supplies were already on his back and he had been ready to depart once he offered to Accompany Amore. Amorè nods and heads out. Once away from the group she says, "if we had an idea about how they gain their recruits, We could easily pose as new recruits for one of the 5 leaders and get in. Hopefully I can find a way to learn about them."

 

She takes on a unicorn form and hides her cutiemark with a claok. She also pulls out the gem and says, "I don't want anypony else to touch this. I am trusting you with it. Once the task is done and we get out of here, I would like it back."

 

She removes an ancient guard's sword from her bags and places it on her side. It is easily drawn by her mussel. "I am going to act as someone wanting to join the ranks. Let's hope it works." She then says.

Lunar nodded to the others. " Perhaps we can socialize. But I plan to meditate soon, maybe contact the spirits of this area, I am sure it will be rejuvenating after the long scouting trip" He said with a smile, before sitting down near Red, Caliber, and Tyra. " So, my friends, were are you all from ? I would love to hear more about you and all your exploits" he said with a grin. Learning more about the group could come in handy, and he would love to learn how everyone met up here so conveniently.
