Hey, okay, look I don't want anyone to give me any hate comment or stupidness because they don't like the Conversion Bureau, but I have read read what it was about, and see that I may actually like it because it's all about FiM Ponies going to war against Humans and turning them into ponies. Now, I thought about making my own, but I don't know where to start or how to do it, so do the plot and the setting needs to start off the same as the Conversion Bureau stories, do it still have to be on earth, or can ponies get there from their dimension?

 

Can anyone give me like... pointers or something?

The Conversion Bureau is mostly dead these days and hated. Due to many of these stories over glamorizing ponies and demonizing all humanity as evil. The ponies are portrayed as mary sue/gary sue master race. People hate the stories as portraying humans as evil... even if they are fighting for their very survival. The misanthropy. The superiority complex that turns MLP FIM Ponies into basically Nazis. Many people hate these Ponies so much, they refer to them as TCB Ponies and think of them on the same level as zombies or Reapers from Mass Effect. Or Borg, or Darkspawn, the Heartless or any other hegemonizing swarm. 

 

Oh yes, Pro TCB stories say they preach harmony... but they actually preach hegemony. Just another reason why they are hated. And also colonialism by ponies stealing human land using the barrier.

 

 

Some stories just have a portal as a barrier connecting to Earth. Sometimes it expands, sometimes it doesn't. Depends on what TCB story.

 

Some tips, if you write a Pro TCB story. Which is often pro human xenocide you will get lots of hate for it. However, if you write well written story with many pro human themes you might get liked quite a lot. Then again, may not get much attention, since the Conversion Bureau is mostly dead.

 

The two most well liked TCB Stories are: The Conversion Bureau: The Other Side of the Spectrum and The Conversion Bureau: Setting Things Right.

Wow, making human beings evil and ponies the good was actually the biggest problem to them even though if happened before in different fandoms? I understand if it was about one race or more than one race of human being hated because then it would just be racist, but people actually got mad and get hated over it? It's for fun and a story...

And the fact the barrier wipes away human history and everything humanity has ever made. 

 

Another reason people hate it is because ponies are so out of character. I'm sure the ponies would hate us over our history, but I still think Twilight Sparkle would love to read our books. And would not want to 'kill all humans'.

I'll tell you about a cool faction seen in some human vs pony war stories. 

 

One of most well liked TCB 'The Other Side of the Spectrum' stories has a group of ponies called 'Ponies For Human Life.' Bascially the trope: Defector from Decadence

 

Ponies For Human Life are basically ponies that have turned their back on Equestria. They feel sympathetic to the human cause and join humanity against their fellow ponies to save humanity. If you ever intends to use the Ponies For Human Life in your story, please ask user redskin122004 on fimfiction for permission to use them.

I've always wanted to see a TCB story that isn't about war.

 

A premise I have in my head is that Equestria poofs into existence somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, and is spotted by a passing jet. The two races make contact, and before long, the United Nations agrees to recognize their sovereignty. The titular "Conversion Bureau" in this case is more of a service, and it goes both ways. Some humans want to become ponies, and some ponies want to become human. The tale that follows is an anthology of escapism that asks just how comfortable one is in their own life.

 

Ponies would make the switch to get away from their farms and experience modern technology, while humans would change over to escape from outstanding debts or other things that they hate about their lives.

 

It would also be interesting to see some of the more bizarre implications of these two worlds colliding. Maybe two deer hunters in the Canadian woods are attacked by a hydra, or Twilight Sparkle researches Earth/human history and compares it to that of Equestria. How would a religious debate turn out in the presence of a unicorn?

 

There are alot of cool ideas that can stem from this setting. I don't see why it has to be a battleground for debating misanthropy with stories of zombies and genocide.

That are some. But very few. I can't really name any.

 

 

But there quite a few stories where human and ponies met and it's generally positive. Those tend to have no ponification though.

And she develops feelings for a human librarian or something. While at the same time the human feels really weird for having feeling for her since she's not human. That's true, I've seen it enough times in movies and heard from it enough times in the Walking Dead, Attack on Titan, Terminator, Falling Skies everywhere.

Actually, the whole TCB genre isn't about pony xenocide of the human race for the most part. 

 

From what I've observed in most stories, human/equine relations start peacefully. Usually set sometime in the future, a gateway between earth & equis appears somewhere in one of the oceans, with a barrier that keeps humans out, for their own safety. In most stories, a common theme is that magic is seeping in from Equestria and spreading across the planet. And while it's beneficial to most life forms, it is lethal to humans, much akin to radiation poisoning. And in response, TCB is established.

 

Most stories are usually slice of life stuff, people struggling to accept humanity as a dying breed, torn on staying human or becoming pony, adapting to an equine world, or just trying to survive new found complications like anti-pony terror groups, radical pro-converts, or the differences between terran & equestrian ponies. 

 

Personally, I find much more creativity and engagement from those types of stories than evil humans vs. eviler ponies. Stuff by author Chatoyance tends to highlight the modern trend for TCB fics, to the point where most of their work is considered the "canon" of TCB to an extent. Definitely go check them out.

I too am considering writing my own TCB fic and while it heavily revolves around the themes mentioned, it's going to be more action focused. It'll pretty much be Rambo, Punisher & Under Siege meets Kill Bill and a bunch of Jet Li films. Basically one human fighting a bunch of ponies that want to "help" and "save" her by converting her. Less like brainwashing, xenocidal hordes. More like well intentioned extremists that can't take a hint. Hopefully I'll be able to expand it into the quadrilogy I have planned, excluding side stories. If I ever get started that is.

I'd recommend using Denim&Venom's links as she does a fairer job of indicating what a typical and good TCb story is.As she said you should join those fimfiction groups if you need help writing a good TCB story. The key is to make a story interesting that doesn't paint the humans or ponies in a black & white situation where one is superior and another group inferior. I really haven't seen too many stories that deal with "wars"between the 2 groups. 
  

I've got a TCB song coming out soon with large pmv to accompany it as a general "this is TCB" for newbs and old fans alike. Using TCB: The First Year as a general inspiration for it which i think is a pretty good origin story.  Hopefully may spark a little interest again for those aren't acquainted with that universe.

Chat's stories are filled with one-sided pro pony, misanthropy, portentous anti human speeches and humans need to be converted or die. Oh and xenocide justification of an entire sapient species, due to the fact all humans are evil in said stories! 

 

I'll post a link for those of us from: Alternative Conversion Bureau. (formly known as Anti Conversion Bureau) For some of us that like more pro humans stories.

 

My favorite type of TCB story is when humanity gets their revenge on the ponies and kills many of them. Before placing Equestria under military occupation. 

 

 

Hey, at least it's not xenocide. Which the ponies tried to commit. Normally, I am against military occupation of Equestria.... but these are TCB Ponies after all, so they had it coming.

 

Or.... a story where Canon Ponies meet the evil TCB Ponies from The Other Side of the Spectrum.

 

 

 

All that said, there are two non human vs pony TCB war fics I like. Since the ponies are in character and are trying to stop the barrier's advance.
