SteveMorison 404 June 7, 2015 Share June 7, 2015 We know Pinkie Pie is random but I have a hard time believing she is that absent minded to not see that she was clearly upsetting Fluttershy, she also knows her friends very well and it's her life goal for her to get them to smile. Her actions in Filli Vanilli weren't stupidity, they were maliciousness. Even in Griffon The Brush Off we see that Pinkie realises how timid Fluttershy is, so maybe Pinkie now has underlying reasons to want to get under Fluttershy's skin. It's worth pointing out that Pinkie Pie's job most likely involves entertaining and Fluttershy is being asked to entertain, and since Fluttershy called Pinkie Pie petty for caring only about birthday cake and party hats Pinkie is now rubbing into Fluttershy that entertaining isn't all that easy and is something Fluttershy can't do,
Poetic Stone 1,041 June 7, 2015 Share June 7, 2015 Yes Pinkie Pie is very random, and I love the Filli Vanilli episode I thought it was a very good one. Plus I love Weird Al he made the episode, but yes it seemed like she was trying to get under her skin. 1 Signature created by Starlight Glimmer Avatar made by ConcorDisparate

The Awesome One 1,315 June 8, 2015 Share June 8, 2015 Pinkie Pie does not seem like one of those ponies that would hold a grudge or want to take revenge especially on a pony like Fluttershy.
Orablanco Account 3,707 June 8, 2015 Share June 8, 2015 I don't think so. I always thought it was the writers thinking it'd be funny if Pinkie went over the top and started ranting about the worst possible scenario; it's a gag that get's done a lot. Evidently, it would have served the writers to remember what was already established about Pinkie's understanding of Fluttershy's hang-ups. Besides, I don't really think Pinkie is the revenge type. Unless it's over a Pinkie Promise. 1 Onwards to my DeviantArt page! Sig by the illustrious Kyoshi!
cider float 2,538 June 8, 2015 Share June 8, 2015 I made a thread on the sudden change in Pinkie as well. She seems to get mad way too often nowadays and yes she has been acting malicious. Early Pinkie hardly got angry and screamed less. But having a grudge on Fluttershy? Far as I know there isn't that kind of continuity uess it's on villains like Discord or Luna. Singe 2,111 June 8, 2015 Share June 8, 2015 It's not the first time that Pinkie Pie's naivety has hinder or hurt others. Part of her character is to be an obstacle-lite or a heckler-lite for laughs.
sweetolebob18 728 June 9, 2015 Share June 9, 2015 I've pointed out elsewhere, Pinkie has a mean streak. Her treatment of Gilda in Griffon the Brush Off. Her treatment of Luna in Luna Eclipsed Her gloating over Dash not getting cider in Super Speedy ... 6000 Her treatment of Twilight in Feeling Pinkie Keen. Not warning her of falling objects & putting Gummy in her bath tub. Trolling Twilight about not being a good skater in Winter Wrap Up She can be really snarky & nasty when she puts her mind to it. She (usually) gets by with it because everyone thinks "Oh, she is so clueless she doesn't realize what she said & didn't mean it like that." IMO, she is not 1/2 as clueless as everyone thinks, does know exactly what she is saying & DOES mean it exactly like that.

Singe 2,111 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 (edited) In two different chase scenes one being Applejack and the other Greybow Dash, Pinkie Pie purposely took Rarity out of the action. Pinkie Pie's hounding of Twilight Sparkle delayed Rarity and Fluttershy from clearing up their issues. Pinkie Apple Pie is basically Pinkie Pie being a burden to Applejack's family forcing them to awkwardly put on an act. PastelBread 147 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 To think on a more positive note, maybe Pinkie Pie was just trying to voice what she thought was going on in Fluttershy's head? Maybe she did this to try to show to the other ponies what Fluttershy was feeling? That way, the other ponies had a better understanding on how to help her. That is just a thought, though. Also, on the other hand, it was kind of mean as well.
Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,303 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 Perhaps it was karmic retribution. Fluttershy to Rainbow Dash in Sonic Rainboom: But, Rainbow Dash. Just because you've failed the sonic rainboom a hundred thousand times in practice doesn't mean you won't be able to do it in front of an entire stadium, full of impatient, super-critical sportsfan ponies. Move on, Broners. Move on. 1 "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. But that does not mean making things up. Well, in GTBO, she wasn't really being MEAN to Gilda, she just wanted to be her friend. And the other times, well, she really wasn't being too mean honestly. She's just being Pinkie. Singe 2,111 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 (edited) Gilda just wanted to spend time together with her only friend Rainbow Dash with no one else, but Pinkie Pie's third wheel act ruined those plans. Before this Pinkie Pie hounded Rainbow Dash until she got what she wanted, spending time with Rainbow Dash. One thing that makes Pinkie Pie this way is her character is written to ignore boundaries. Wind Chaser 4,768 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 Both were isolated incidents of lackluster writing, but this theory makes a surprising amount of sense.
The Second Opinion 270 June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 It wasn't actually the first time they used that "Just imagine how amazing the thing I don't realize is your worst fear will be!" gag. Rarity also did it to Fluttershy in Hearth's Warming Eve, and Fluttershy herself did it to Rainbow Dash in Sonic Rainboom. This one was just a lot more over-the-top, which I always interpreted as a parody of those other ones (and a good one, since it pointed out how incredibly dense and obvious the regular versions were). So as motivation goes, I guess I'd see it as a moment of Pinkie Pie logic. Imagine that she didn't understand when she saw her friends trying to get each other psyched to go onstage by pointing out stuff you'd think would only make them more nervous, but after watching them do it again and again, she decided that she finally understood how it worked and got really excited to show how well she could do it for Fluttershy. (And she truly did one-up all the others, after all.)
sweetolebob18 728 June 11, 2015 Share June 11, 2015 I completely forgot her treatment of Cranky in A Friend in Deed. Granted, most of her actions were accidents but telling everyone about his wig certainly was not. Most times everyone just says "Oh that is just Pinky being Pinky" but IMO she is not as clueless as she makes out. She is a superb organizer, as shown by her never running out of party supplies & her behavior in Baby Cakes (or at least not as scattered as everyone thinks). Still in her defense I'd say she can take a joke (Griffon the Brush Off) & she has toned it down after Too Many Pinkies. Milli Filli was a rare relapse
Singe 2,111 June 11, 2015 Share June 11, 2015 (edited) Party of One shows that Pinkie Pie deep down is unstable. If she doesn't in a literal sense "have her way", she can lose it. She's definitely an established attention seeker. Edited June 11, 2015 by Singe
silvadel 1,393 June 11, 2015 Share June 11, 2015 I think the whole episode was orchestrated by Pinkie Pie right down to Big Mac losing his voice at the turkey call. Pinkie Pie was trying to desensitize Fluttershy. I think Flutters is Pinkie's special project. Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight.
