How many Wonderbolts are there?

Exactly what it  says on the Tin. How many Active duty Wonderbolts are there in Equestria at any given time? Do they have numbers equal to the Air Force?

They seem to be the closest thing to a military outside the Royal guards, and there is an academy, so I'd say a bunch of them, although the most celebrated seem to be their 'A list' composed of ponies like Spitfire.
