Grimdark Fanfic Recommendations

I want some recommendations of grimdark fanfics, because those are the ones that interest me. Note: I know that there is another thing like this, but I lost the page and can't find it.

Also, the ones I have read are Cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, Cheerilee's Garden and Scarlet Harvest. The latter two are my favorite. I thought they were very well done, and I want there to be another one. I don't get why people thought Cupcakes was scary, it was actually quite a nice read. And a short one. Rainbow Factory wasn't what I expected, and I didn't like it solely because of how RD was portrayed.

Just hope you're not the one to cringe so easily. lol. Cause i know i did and had to stop midway after listening to the reading on Youtube.

But i managed to get through them all, it was amazing detail; i would suggest you listen instead of read for bigger effect.

Well, I know there's Fallout: Equestria and it's boatload of sidestories, Puppet To Her Fame and The Immortal Game (originally titled Ponies Make War.) I also remember an unofficial prequel/sequel thing to Rainbow Factory called Pegasus Device, and a quick search reveals there is a still active Grimdark group on FimFiction.

Cheerilee's Garden was as amazing as it was completely disturbing. Anyway, The secret Life of Rarity is a good one:

Hmmm, I'd recomend Equestrivania, formerly known as My Little Castlevania...... it's obviously a Castlevania and MLP crossover  . While the game themselves weren't exactly dark and grimm, save from one or two douches each game, this crossover don't mess around showing how vile and deadly Dracula's forces can be 

 

Harbinger is a good one if you love zombie apocalypse

Aside from the ones I already mentioned there is this one fic that is kind of random one called Ponyville Swat that makes fun of the drug war and police brutality.

I'll go w The Secret Life of Rarity.  Rarity is a serial killer.  It's as grimdark as anything I've ever read & I've read "I Have No Mouth & I Must Scream" (by Ellison?) & "Adam & No Eve" (by ICR who.  Bomber pilot in WWIII is sole survivor on Earth & dying of gangrene).  Rated R for graphic violence & torture.

120 Days of Blueblood.... the mere summary of the fan fiction scares me away. (I never read nor plan to read it) From the summary I tell this fan fiction is grimdark.

 

 

The Conversion Bureau fan fiction.... the stories where all your favorite ponies you know and love become Nazis. 

 

 

You And Your Human... human (becomes mute) from our planet finds himself in a world where humans are either wild animals or pets.

 

 

Chains. Humanity is enslaved by ponies.

Look into Ms. Cheerilee's Garden or the sequl to that: Scarlet Harvest

Already did, they are my favorite I've read! I didn't like the ending to Scarlet Harvest though, so I wrote an alternate ending! It's on Wattpad.

I have to recommend the trilogy:  The Secret Life of Rarity - The Public Life of Sweetie Belle - Broken Blossom 

by BronyWriter. The first is very bloody but well written (gets better and better as it progresses) . the latter 2 are dealing with the tragic fallout of what Rarity has done to her family line. There's an alternate bonus story which brings the gore full circle. Read them all!

 

Another trilogy that should be up your alley but is only lightly grimdark is the Hard Reset / Time loops Trilogy. It's a great Twilight stuck in a time loop with a Changeling invasion that has some great time travel  / alternate realities. Also has bonus alternate story that's very grimdark and shows a very evil alternate Twilight who fails to make the right decisions.

 

A Puppet To Her Fame  by Kaidan is wonderful dark Octavia story.  His other story Twilight's Dollhouse which seems to have high marks I really disliked as the story was very disorganized and lacked a ton of coherence. 

 

Background Pony is NOT a grimdark, but its one of the best written stories and one that seriously does a number on the reader. Sad and touching existential read about the sad fate of background pony Lyra.

 

Great human in equestria dark stories minus most of the gore:

 

Your Human and You - Humans are cattle/dogs except for Max brought from Earth 

 

Diaries of a Madman - Navarone, the only human in Equestria. A true anti-hero who explores the far borders of Equestria making friends and enemies along the way

 

Stardust - Twilight is brought into a war torn Earth where she must assist humanity against an alien race that is far more deadly then anything she's every encountered.

 

First 2 are VERY long and still not completed. But can be very fun and dark at times.

120 Days of Blueblood.... the mere summary of the fan fiction scares me away. (I never read nor plan to read it) From the summary I tell this fan fiction is grimdark.

I haven't read that one but the author is notorious for making some rather messed up clopfics (alot of them are for comedic/shock value) and from what I hear 120 Days of Blueblood is both grimdark and clop and for me while I can handle both separately having them both together is a tad too much even for me.
