Omg, guys, you know what? I think we just might be getting a reake of the 1st gens again. How awesome would that be on the 3DS? All the signs point to gen 1 remakes.

The anime of Pokemon Origins, retelling Red's journey, but showing him with a mega Charizard at the end

Kanto starter being given a mega form in gen 6

Plus, the 20th anniversary coming up soon

Well, I guess I wouldn't mind a remake. Although, to be honest, I'm not as into Pokemon as I used to be. I dunno, I'll probably just marathon the anime in mini-celebration; I don't buy any of the new games anyway.

Honestly, I want the 20th anniversary to be a celebration of the entire series rather than remakes of the first games. Not only do we already have remakes of the first games, but the series has come so far that it's worth giving the other generations a time to shine. Besides which, Gen 1 gets too much love from Nintendo, so it would be such wasted potential if the 20th anniversary is just another Red/Blue thing.

Honestly, I want the 20th anniversary to be a celebration of the entire series rather than remakes of the first games. Not only do we already have remakes of the first games, but the series has come so far that it's worth giving the other generations a time to shine. Besides which, Gen 1 gets too much love from Nintendo, so it would be such wasted potential if the 20th anniversary is just another Red/Blue thing.

Oh no, nothing like that. I seriously understand that Game Freak can't create a game with all regions an amount of time either. But I would love something where all current Pokémon are available, or perhaps some kind of anthology/collection where you can play one game from each Generation and it could be released on some kind of home console. Something like the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection.

Bethesda did that in 1994 on MS-DOS, make a game covering a large expanse of land (one so large it takes real-world months just to travel across it), and Bethesda can't make a working game. Game Freak would have no excuse.

Oh no, nothing like that. I seriously understand that Game Freak can't create a game with all regions an amount of time either. But I would love something where all current Pokémon are available, or perhaps some kind of anthology/collection where you can play one game from each Generation and it could be released on some kind of home console. I can guarantee that a 20th anniversary game wouldn't be made for home console, when Masude said that the pokemon games were best sold a d meant to be on handhelds, and to have the pocket monsters literally be carried in people's pockets

I will admit that I forgot about that, but it's more wishful thinking than anything. Whether it would have all six generations, all Pokémon to catch, an anthology, a spinoff or whatnot, I don't care. I just want a celebration of the entire series. 

 

If you want a Gen 1 remake for the 20th Anniversary, then I won't stop you from that. I just think that Gen 1 already has enough love from Nintendo.

an you blame them for giving g1 so much attention, though? It's theirbaby, that started the sucess of the franchise.

And frankly, I I wanna available see Kanto with modern enhanced gameplay and graphics

• Psychic and Hyper Beam have the same sound effects as they did in gen I
• First Pokémon you encounter is a Pidgey
• You can catch Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres and Mewtwo
• X and Y's colors are red and blue
• Fire/Flying type that evolves at level 36, at the end of a 3-stage evolutionary line

I'm really amazed Pokemon has remained this successful, considering its creator blatantly stated in an interview before that they are only making it at this point because it keeps making money. Ultimately the goal of any creation is to generate a profit, but few are so bold faced about it. Honestly, I really think after 20 years it's getting close to time to retire this franchise. At their core, the Pokemon games are more or less blatant rehashes with tweaks and improvements. The formula though remains insultingly identical. A new generation? I can already predict what will happen:

 

• New region with different pokemon.
• Kid leaves home to become trainer.
• You'll go to 8 gyms.
• Somewhere along the way an evil team will want to do evil things with Pokemon.
• You unravel their plans numerous times.
• You defeat the elite four.
• Become pokemon champion.
• You have to love your pokemon and friendship and whatnot.

While the battle system becomes more complex by adding more elements, they are more or less the same at their core.

i want m charizard to be able to learn mega punch and mega kick, and venusaur to learn skull bash, and Blastoise to learn mirror coat and refresh like in gen 1 again

Generation V broke the formula in a lot of different ways.

 

• No Pokémon from previous generations were available until you beat the game in Black and White; this was changed in Black 2 and White 2, but in BW you could not catch any older Pokémon until you see the credits roll.
• The Gym Leaders play an active role in the game's story and actively help out the battle against Team Plasma.
• The Champion isn't the final boss before the credits, you don't even fight him until after the credits.
• Actively questions the relationship between humans and Pokémon.
• No third, "canon" game; instead, there were two numbered sequels, set two years after the original games.

Needless to say, generation V is pretty controversial among the fanbase. And why should they retire it when millions of people worldwide still actively enjoy the games? Because they're "more or less the same at their core"? I could say the same thing about Call of Duty, but no. There's a whole lot more that changes between generations than what meets the eye. Same thing can be said about Call of Duty, really.

I know how you feel, gen I is pretty overrated tbh. Not saying it's bad, but there's just so many shortcomings with those games in terms of gameplay mechanics and balance and the general stability of it.

I dunno if we need another Gen 1 remake though. Maybe just a new game that takes place in Kanto? That'd be cooler if you ask me... but a lot of things are pointing at the 3rd game for X/Y is coming out next year, too. Either way some new game is coming next year for sure.

I'm hoping for a re-release of either Spiky eared Pichu, or Surf pikachu, since neither past gen event Pokemon could be traded from their games, if you happened to get them

I think the idea of re-remaking R/B(G)/Y is very strange, but I can't deny that I'd buy it. I got used to Gamefreak making a new Pokemon game after the last couple of autumns... I want the next one! lol

strange how? RBY haven't been around for 20 years, and their remake, not since THE Game boy Advance, which is still a LONG time. And XY have been heavily hinting toward something with gen1

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.

 

Either way, what I'm saying is it's just strange for a re-remake to happen. It's especially strange given how formulaic the release schedule of Pokemon games has been. Would a Generation I remake happen in the same generation with Generation 4, and then would a re-remake of G1 games start another line of remakes for each generation?
