okay so shes and average earth pony with a very light purple hue to her coat, so light you have to look to notice it, with a plum coloured long mane and turquoise eyes and ruby red lips and she wears eye liner

her cutie mark is two maroon cogs because she is a design engineer most of the work is computer aided but she's not afraid to don overalls, a visor and a mig gun and get down to the basic works, and she does steam punk cosplay on the side

she also plays bass guitar in her spare time and has a small tattoo on her left hoof

Plumb (plum) line or plummet. It is an ancient engineering tool.

Well, what is Flutershy's last name? (single names are less common, but not unheard of)

Tesla could work.

Another idea: One of the most common software that enegineers use to do design work is AutoCAD. CAD-->Cadence? or Cade for short?

I agree.. Lavander (La-van-der) or Lavender (la-ven-der, like the flower) sounds nice ⁿ-ⁿ It matches the coat and mane well..
