Race: Unicorn

Age: 17

Personality:

In associations with Violet Spiral and Valorie Prowl, Serene has been a very close friend, being the mother figure of the group. Often very tactful amongst other ponies around her, she is quick witted, cool, calm and collected.

Talent:

Harnessing her Unicorn gifts around her taste for music, she's capable of channeling the flow of wind, utilizing it to achieve means of playing multiple wind related instruments at the same time. She isn't very good with percussion instruments, but instead, enjoys the arrhythmic flow of sound through string, wind, and pianos. An educator and student alike, Serene is well versed in singing legato like tunes, and dancing, while still striving her best In hopes of performing alongside some of her most admired musicians someday, like Octavia, Symphony, Concerto, Harpo Parish Nadermane, and most of all, Frederic Horseshoepin, whom she's been very fond of.

Her "Triple Time" Cutie mark is represented by three grace notes above regular notes on a triple metre fashion.

Will cover more of her in her Character Database.

The only problem i have with it is that her hooves are a little too large. Other then that, it's a very well done drawing! The magic around the objects is good. :)

I would have to show you the scaling measurements I used for you to understand it, I wasn't intending on using the original dimensions garnered for the FiM series. It was a rough calculate guess still, but most of her body was left out, and proportions or not, most of it was deliberately hidden away. I'll get her entire body in a picture next time and the measurements for the other works I did.

Thanks for your input.

Back, Sorry, had to go to work.

Now I'm not entirely sure as to what your perspectives are about the hooves being too large, as in comparison to a TV cartoon, which actually exaggerates body proportions all the time. However, let me give you a run down of how I perceived it in this piece.

Did you know that majority, roughly all hands when open, held next to our heads actually nearly equal the same amount of length and little more than half the volume as our open face from chin to widows peak? True, many people aren't very proportionate in sizes, but as we progress through life, as an infant, our head contributes to a little more over a quarter of our body length and our hands are about roughly one third the size of our infant heads. The sizes and proportions drastically change as we grow older (as I assume you have learned) Our hands increase in size faster than our heads.

While this isn't considered to be the normal case for most people, this image is actually utilized as a reference on many art related educational websites.

I drew Serene nearly humanized in relations as proportions go, but it would be wrong to assume her hooves are too large, when in fact there are only two of them exposed. Her entire body isn't being revealed, therefore making any determination of her hooves being too large as compared to the rest of the body, (which is hidden) incredibly vague.

It is safer to assume however, that if you were to take all of her limbs and round them out to the median of each of her (all hooves to nearly the same exact size of eachother hooves) You will actually find that, her head would be closer to being out of proportions and deemed smaller for an over all body shot.

Then there's the issue with determining the closer you are to a certain perspective, other items will be lesser in size as they're further away in a 3D term. In this piece, her hooves and her head would be about equal distances to the point of perspective as it is being shot at from above, overseering the entire piano keys and her top torso. True her left hoof may seem larger than her right, but also notice the slight widening of the keys as it comes close the the edge, hinting that the angle maybe canted, either giving the perspective that either she or the piano might not be properly aligned with one another.

There are simply multiple factors that can make this artwork imperfect, But, there is no such thing as a more perfect image, as there is to a perfect being.

In the end, it's all about personal taste, and that, I'm sorry it doesn't suit your particular taste. I know these pieces aren't intended to please everypony.
