ShadOBabe 19,013 September 4, 2015 Share September 4, 2015 Yes they celebrate coming of age what's your point? Since there is no measure of what age they reach maturity the only lead is the cutecenera being a correlation of the quincenara. Quince meaning 15 Okay, how on EARTH are you missing my point? I can't make it any clearer. Is there a headcanon reason that you NEED the kids to be 15 or something and you're just arguing in circles? The cutecenera has nothing to do with age. It has to do with getting your cutie mark. Which can be at any age. The creators only made that pun because of the "maturity" aspect of it. "Okay, in this episode we need Diamond Tiara to have a party celebrating her cutie mark." "Hey why don't we call it cutecenera?" "What like "quinceanera"?" "Yeah because a "quinceanera" is a celebration of maturity, but instead of being fifteen, ponies celebrate it when they get their cutie mark." "Let's do it!" I'm arguing how this theory is viable and it does hold a lot more water than not being viable. The OP made a solid point you want to keep arguing about it you're just going to be repeating the same thing or just saying "I don't think so" the whole time. In a cartoon things are taken literally a lot of times and in relation to our world. If ponies have birthdays they have cake and presents and they do it on the date they were born in. It's not like they make up their own rules of a birthday party. So as a theory of cutecenera being taken at the 15th of their birthday does stand. Well let say Diamond T had her cute-ceañera, at 15 the cutie mark crusader are in her class so presumably the same ages. So now that season 1 we don't know the passage of time but there been at least 2 running of the leaves and 2 grand gala. So at least 2 years now they are 17+??? the cutie mark crusaders didn't have any cute-ceañera at 15 since they did not have cutie mark if they get one now they are 17+ so your cute-ceañera at 15 doesn't work it has nothing to do with ages. (if they were 15 on season 1) And we don't know how fast pony ages. They may stay fillies for 50 of their years for all we know. Megas 27,770 September 5, 2015 Share September 5, 2015 (edited) Just because their names are similar doesn't mean they're the same. A Quinceañera is also seen as a coming of age for girls, and I'd say that's was used as a basis for Cute-ceañeras when they get Cutie Marks, rather than their age Edited September 5, 2015 by Gattai

Without reiterating too plainly what I (and everyone else) said, a cute-ceañera is only related to a quinceañera in that it is a party that celebrates a milestone in someone/somepony's life. While it's not impossible for a pony to have a cute-ceañera when they're 15, it's not a requirement, since the name (and entire concept) of a cute-ceañera doesn't have anything to do with turning 15. It's just a play on words, and they are similar, but not identical, concepts. In short, pun =/= exactly the same thing. If they are 16 and get their cutie mark well they might trow a cute-ceañera so now you have a cute-ceanera at 16 or if some fillies get her cutie mark at 14 then what. Only those who receive their cutie mark at 15 have the right to a cute-ceanera. or age don't matter and they can receive their cutie mark at 9-12-16-17 or whatever ages and have a cute-ceanera. So there is no association with 15 and the cute-ceanera since it doesn't work for the CMC. Edited September 5, 2015 by DanT

Actually, I believe we have no canonical evidence that they are 16/17, but we don't have canonical evidence that they aren't, either. I don't know if that's what DanT is saying, but it seems to be my interpretation of what we have seen so far in the show. Bart1002 40 September 6, 2015 Share September 6, 2015 (edited) I would estimate the CMC and their classmates to be about 8. We can tell by their level of maturity that they are definitely not teenagers, or close to being teenagers. Also, Applejack and Rarity watch over their little sisters very cautiously. Diamond Tiara and CMC would be similar in age. The way Diamond Tiara was mocking them for not having cutie marks is likely they are the same age. And you're saying they can't get their Cutie Marks now that they are 16? Why not? I would estimate the CMC and their classmates to be about 8. We can tell by their level of maturity that they are definitely not teenagers, or close to being teenagers. Also, Applejack and Rarity watch over their little sisters very cautiously. Well I would think they are younger than 16 but the OP's point has not be refuted by anything so far.
Mad Cyantist 30 September 6, 2015 Share September 6, 2015 The notable difference is that a Quinceanera is to celebrate a 15th birthday, and a Cuteceanera is to celebrate the arrival of a cutie mark. We don't really know how old any of the characters are, but we do know that ponies get their cutie marks at different ages.
chirox the pony 1,336 September 6, 2015 Share September 6, 2015 Highly doubt it. There is no way those characters are any older then ten. 1 No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.
Xeltor23 704 September 6, 2015 Share September 6, 2015 Cutecenara finds it's origin from quinceanera indeed, it's basically the same thing (we make a party because you're growing) but it's when you get your cutie mark not when you turn
