Do You Think Spike Will Get Over Rarity?

He is not a pony and it is weird that he has a crush on a pony. He's like younger than the CMCs.  

Personally I see him being the same age as them - At least maturity-wise.

 

Word of Faust said something like how he's 8 years old maturity-wise (so I'm guessing his actual physical age might be younger than that), and I happen to see the CMC as 8 year olds because of A) That Spike quote and B )8 year old girls are apparently the target audience, and I'm guessing the CMC being a little younger than the mane 6 makes them more "relatable", so... Would make sense for them to be the same age as the viewers.

Wendy literally existed just to be his crush, though. She wasn't even a proper character. :/ First few episodes, before they introduced the crush, she was basically just a background character. Then after Into the Vault, they basically stopped using her. Really hammers home how her entire role in the series was just "Dipper's crush".

 

Now, as of Northwest Mansion Mystery, I'm kind of a fan of that one other ship, but sadly past couple episodes with Dipper still referencing Wendy (especially the latest one!) means that other ship probably isn't going to happen.

I have to disagree on that, she did feel like a genuine character to me. Sure that may have been a fairly large role she played, but they still made it show that she was independent and didn't actually need any relationships. Plus in season 2 they really helped flesh her out as a character, with Society of the Blind Eye and The Last Mabelcorn.

 

Plus it was never shown that Dipper got over her, just that he accepted that he'll never escape the 'friend zone'. But yeah, I'm more of a fan of Dipifica than Dipper x Wendy. It'll work so well, plus it's kind of being shown that it will happen. (Also the TLM thing was more so just a joke )

 

But I digress. Still don't think Spike will get over Rarity. At most it'll do something similar to what GF did by having the crush still exist, but have him accept that it won't happen.

He's more subtle with it than he was in the first couple of seasons. Compare him in "Green Isn't Your Color" to him in "Inspiration Manifestation".

Oh, how often does he personally write them? I only got into the series a few months back and never paid attention to specific writers (but I heard how M.A. Larson wrote Double Dipper).

Oddly enough, the only other episode (to my knowledge) that he wrote alone was the first one. I would've expected him to write an episode like Not What He Seems or Tale of Two Stans alone. Although I do see a lot of similarities in terms of humor, plus it was fairly plot heavy, considering that it was foreshadowing Bill's plans and all that fun stuff.

 

Funny thing is I also only got into it a few months ago. I used to watch it a couple years ago, but I never really had a huge interest. Lately though, I've been loving cartoons more and more.

Yes, I see Rarity as more the sister of who Spike will eventually focus his gaze upon.  Spike and Sweetie Belle make a good pairing.

They've largely downplayed his crush in recent seasons but seem hesitant to ever deal with it directly enough to alter their relationship, whether that would be Rarity breaking things off, a "we'll talk when you're older" or something else entirely. I see his feelings staying in the awkward limbo they're in for the foreseeable future, though.
