His view on college is what kills me.

Either way, higher taxes would not help the middle class at all. Even if you tax corporations, they will just fire people to compensate for their loses, thus hurting low income people. If you going to tax rich people, tax them individually and not their business.

It is one of those things that sounds like a good idea and may work in some countries but I am very concerned about the increasing involvement of the federal government in education due to the fact that it means education is being increasingly politicized to suit the agenda of the state which is very dangerous for education as well as liberty. Education is something that should be handled by state and local governments and parents.

Yes, and they will find loopholes around said taxes while the middle class gets screwed over. We would be better off if we got rid of the IRS and all federal taxes and replaced them with a flat tax or national sales tax.

I am all for national sale or flat tax.

Although not perfect, I was looking at Trumps new tax plan he released and its not to bad. Way better than what we have now or what Bernie and Hilary or proposing in my opinion.

Also I think we should abolish the IRS and Federal Reserve.

Anyone find it funny how 90% of the people in the forums seem to either be socialists or libertarians, which are each close to the ends of the spectrum of economic policy? It's a bit scary how so many people could be wrong though, both sides say their opponent will bankrupt the country... either way, it means roughly half the population of the U.S is dead wrong about how economics work.

To be fair you have to consider the fact that with how many thousands of members there are on this site so far only a small portion of them have responded and the people most likely to respond to political threads in the first place are people who care about this stuff which is often people with strong opinions. Though I think the amount of Americans that don't understand how economics works is a lot higher than half, it is probably at least 75% or possible 90%. Most Americans aren't very ideological though, they either don't care or are a tad more utilitarian by supporting positions they deem to be more realistic and likely to work favoring what by today's standards would be centrism though with the kind of wrong headed policies that are regarded as "mainstream" some of these positions aren't as reasonable as they are commonly believed to be.

Interestingly enough, there actually is a political ideology known as libertarian-socialism. Currently, Bernie Sanders is popular on Reddit, but during the last election, Ron Paul was popular on Reddit. I think the reason why there are a lot of people here(and on Reddit) are socialists or libertarians is because a lot of the people on these forums are under the age of 30, which means they're pretty young. And libertarianism along with socialism tend to be more popular with younger people.

I very much enjoy the fact that these two alternative political ideologies are gaining ground in this time...

Young Americans, like myself, are getting tired of the two main political stances dominating everything.  The fact that there is such a great amount of support for both Bernie Sanders and Rand Paul (not to mention the support for Ron Paul last time), is amazing.

For centuries, it's been Liberal/Democrats and Conservative/Republicans [only] in office, and finally with time, we've come a far cry forward with acceptance of alternative ideologies.

I wasn't always a Libertarian.  I used to be a Conservative/Republican back in high school.  But college and MLP helped me become a more progressive-minded person, and I became a Libertarian.

I took the I Side With quiz and got Rand Paul. He was at 88%. He has my vote now since that quiz is a really accurate quiz.

I know this is probably satirical, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is how people are voting these days. "Never mind if the candidate is sane, or even successful! The internet quiz said we were compatible! Let's do it!"

Well the quiz I took has sources and all of what each of the candidates have said. You can read that. It's not like some quiz on Quotev or anything like that.

...Misogynist (i.e., pledging to cut down on Planned Parenthood)...

How is trying to stop a shady organization from harvesting body parts from babies like barbarians even remotely misogynist?! Killing innocent human beings before they can even consent to their own suicide is not woman-empowering in the slightest. If anything, it's anti-human, not "Pro-Choice"! Seriously, shame on you!

Hate on the Republicans and blame them for all the world's problems all you want, but even Carly Fiorina (who is a woman, by the way) got it right.

You, uh, do know that video was heavily edited, right?

Prove it.

Besides, even without the whole organ harvesting scandal, Planned Parenthood is still messed up. Obviously there's the elephant in the room with the whole killing unborn humans, which is a blatant infringement on an individual's right to live, but they also try to teach children that "sexual rights" means being a promiscuous pervert at others' expense and the like. Seriously, they have no reason to leech off of unwilling citizens' tax money. It's stupid and it needs to stop!

I'm not an Encylopedia, there's Google for that.

Like I just said 14 minutes ago:

Promiscuity and practicing safe sex are very different things. You can either be against contraception, or against abortions, You can't be against both, because the former prevents the latter. Regardless, this is not the debate pit, if you'd like to discuss this with me more, make a post in this thread, and we can have our discussion there to further avoid derailing this one.

I'm 85% with Bernie Sanders. He really gets the necessary liberal ups and advantages with democratic beliefs I feel. Really hoping he reaches top, he's been recently shooting up in poll votes. (... It looks like Hillary's in the lead currently)
