"An interesting name. I do not recognize it as any Equestrian tongue, but you are free to tell me all about your travels later. The two of us have a hooligan to catch."

"Indeed... now, where to begin." The lich quietly cast some minor detection spells and proceeded the area carefully as he attempted to locate where the portal was located. It took a minute or two of detection before he blinked. "Oh... here it is. But... the magical signature suggests more than merely a teleport. A temporary portal was created here- a prepared cast to a sigil circle. It will take some time, but... yes, I should be able to determine the location of the permanent runes. Let's see..."

@@J.R.,

He immediately snapped a look over his shoulder. "Someone approaches." As soon as the words exit his mouth, a blur flashed by- a quadruped, but moving so fast and so stealthily that absolutely no details could be made out. The lich spun around in an attempt to follow the movement with his eyes, but he quickly discovered that he couldn't follow the blur's movement- at least, not for long. A ninja or an assassin of some sort?

"Quite the intriguing creature. Do you think he might be relevant, or a mere coincidence? Shall we pursue?"

@@J.R.,

"There's definite proof... keep looking for any sign of him. Nobody merely walks into Mortus without the proper paperwork. All security breaches must be recorded."

"You know, I could help if you ACTUALLY LET ME DO ANYTHING," Agririon commented, irritation written clear as day across his face.

"Negative," the security wraith responded. "You've done enough harm already. Bringing in someone with outdated authorization-"

"Don't pull that card with me," Agririon snapped. "The paperwork expired literally twelve hours ago, and he's never even been to the damn place before! Look, just let me ask some questions, I'm sure I'll locate the poor sod who-"

"Don't make me say it again."

"Mmh. Well, let me inform you of something," he said, lowering his voice to dangerous volumes. "What do you think the Big Man's reaction's gonna be if I let him know that security let an armed stranger in without opposition?"

The orange wraith immediately stiffened. "It was a trainee watching the exit. A novice mistake. He assumed he was with you and the other delinquent-"

"Do you think he cares? Granted, It would probably take me a pretty long tea party in order to get serious with the old guy, but I'm sure he'd be interested to know..."

"You wouldn't."

"I would. Got nothin' else to do."

Silence. She paused before scowling and, with a huff, tossed him a badge. "You better not f*** things up more than they already are."

"Oh, I think you're in hot enough water as it is. Don't worry, I'll put in a good word. Also, I'll make sure to update the damn cards. Maybe I'll actually give him his this time instead of forgetting about it. Harrumph."

And with that, Agririon held out his hand, created another portal, and stepped through it, leaving behind a rather irritated orange wraith who, with a wave of her hand, resumed the inspections.

@, @,

The ninja pony would keep flying with a blur, until it stopped on top of a nearby building. It knelt down on one knee to keep itself covert while speaking into its watch. "Coming upon Priority Nexus Target now. I won't be needing assistance..."

With that, it stood, and flew down to the sidewalk, starting to trot casually down the street.

She sensed the presence as well.  Her ears twitched as a heart beat drew nearer before passing them by, growing fainter until it blended in with the other nearby pulses.

"No need," she waived.  "Whoever or whatever that was, I doubt it was interested in us.  However, my eyes and ears shall remain conscious of any interlopers."

Carnelian approached the area that the lich indicated, and unsurprisingly felt nothing.  "Are you trying to suggest that our mutual enemy is both a thief AND a planestrider?" she scoffed.  "Highly unlikely for somepony as impulsive and base as he.  Somepony must have aided him, but whom I cannot imagine.  Best not waste time on that subject.  What's important is that bastard is somewhere on the other side, and I need this portal functioning as soon as possible.  I will not be bested by some gutter rat, and neither will you."

Chrissy opened her mouth to speak but Kevin cut her off. "We're prepared for anything that may come. My queen is not afraid." Chrissy simply nodded this time.

"So, where do we start? She is not at the Crystal Empire with her husband?" Chrissy was surprised. They looked quite happy together.

"He probably went with her if they're traveling." Kevin suggested this and Chrissy nodded. She was still kind of hoping to meet Luna, but this might be more important.

The two of them were ready to follow Celestia wherever.

I nodded. "Likewise. Thanks for saving us. As for why, I made it as part of our match. You kinda saw the deadly aftermath. Sparky tells me I was crushed to a pulp by what was left of it." That would probably feel weird to her, as Sparky never spoke out loud. Ever. In fact he was mute and we spoke by a magic link.

I grinned. "A fellow after my own heart kind of, though I don't sell my services. I run a business too. I make things for money, or fix them if they're fixable." Hey if he offered me money, why not. "I'm not without my limits though. I don't deal with criminals. Or at least not if I know they are."

"I see. Don't worry though," Raze said with a slight smile. "I'm not a criminal. Although now, everyone thinks I am." He frowned a bit. "Like I said, I pissed off some corrupt big shot by slicing her crown in half. Why? Because I can't stand ponies like her, that's why." He sighed. "Now almost everyone I meet gives me the evil eye. How foolish..."

@J.R.

Time seemed to slow. Though for Ivory, it was only the speed at which her mind was racing, and not magic, she could still see everything. Ice Blizzard. The earthquake. Shards of ice splitting into beautiful fragments as they raced towards her, threatening to swallow her whole...

She was in a black room. A tiny place, barely small enough to walk around in, but she didn't need to. She instinctively knew what this place was, even if she had never been there before. And that was thanks to the purple mare in front of her...

"...Hmm. It's weird, looking at yourself. Ya know?" The mare tilted her head, examining the unicorn across from her. She gave a single nod of approval. "I do like the look, though. Sorta glad I chose it."

"Well, you're me, so you know why I chose it." She shrugged. "And you also know why i'm here. I kinda sorta need to use that power that we're kinda sorta not supposed to use..."

"Because I know me would get too curious, and probably abuse it? Yeah." The mare rolled her eyes, then stuck out her tongue. "Fine. But just a little. And be responsible with it, would you? I mean, I already know what you're going to do, but... he's sort of a friend, despite the circumstances. So be careful."

"Got it." Ivory Star nodded, then looked back to the mare.

"Okay. Now..." The mare held out her hoof, motioning for Ivory Star to do the same. She reached out, and touched it.

As Ivory Star jumped up, securing herself on a panel, space would suddenly seem to pulse. The world around her seemed to recede, as well, as an ugly black purple void emerged below her position, swallowing whatever it happened to come across. Rocks and trees alike all fell in, and were devoured, the ice quickly trailing after it like so many fast moving fingers. And she wasn't done yet. Above Ice Blizzard, a similar portal emerged, tearing a gash in the sky, enough to block out the false light hanging over the arena. Depositing every ounce of material that had been sent his way over on top of him, like the rush of a battalion of dragons.

-------

-snip-

"You... were sort of in a bad way." She tilted the words as they came, not wanting to speak on the true extent of the damage. Sometimes things were better left unsaid, she figured, as she turned over towards Raze. "You know, for what it's worth, even though i've known you for about...five minutes? I don't think you're a bad pony." She was quick to add the final part, looking him over with a shrug. "I mean, maybe just the slightest tendency to overreact, and you act on your impulses way too often. But you at least did what you did what you did because you thought you were helping others." She shrugged again. "Bad ponies don't tend to do that. Just saying."

@@Fractured,

Ice kept his focus on his attack, making sure it left an impact. However, he realized that everything was being taken in towards a portal, and had to think quickly. Disappointed that his attack did nothing, his main focus was to get out of the way of the impact. With a nervous blink, he froze the earth beneath him, and broke the ice, diving underneath the ground.

With a crash, everything that Ivory had tossed would land on the desired location. By the time the dust settled, everything would just be sitting there in a desolate pile of wreck and waste. Hopefully, Ice wasn't dead from this...

Ivory Star blinked, and in a moment, the portal was gone. The ground returned to normal, and the sky cleared, the only evidence for it being there the lack of snow in the area. Ivory Star dropped to the, still careful to avoid landing on her injured leg, and looked over, at the wasteland that had been deposited in front of her.

She hobbled over, passing through places where she could, and walking around segments where she couldn't. She knew Ice Blizzard by now, and was prepared for... something, but she was also prepared to take the both of them to the hospital, if need be. As Ivory once again looked down at her shattered leg, and thought about Ice's injuries, it was starting to feel more and more necessary.

@@Fractured,

Scuffling was heard through the earth beneath Ivory's hooves. Something was digging under her...and then, out of nowhere, her blue adversary popped his head out of the ground like a mole, coughing, wheezing, and gasping for air. "Uhhhhh! Oh dear ultimate goddess of unbridled kinetic inception."

After some struggle, the earth pony lifted himself out of the hole, and leaned against a nearby rock that had somehow survived all of it. Apparently, both of his legs were shattered entirely from the falling debris.... "Couldn't get away in time...stuff starts to take its toll..." he forced a chuckle, realizing this battle couldn't go on forever. Jokingly, he commented on this to Ivory "...Good fight....but who won?"

Raze laughed a bit what Ivory was saying.

"Hah hah... It's fine, you don't have to hide the fact you think what I did was bad," he said to her. "Yeah, acting on impulse is gonna be my downfall one of these days. And yeah, I've done a lot of bad things in the past couple of days; never said I was a hero or anything..." He paused. "But I'm not a bad guy either. As a mercenary, I've done a lot of things, both good and bad, to get the job done. In the real world, results beat idealism, and that's just the way it is... You can be the most moral pony on the planet, do things that society considers 'idealistically correct', but if it doesn't help anyone, what's the use?"

He sighed. "Anyway...No one might know this, but that bigshot I pissed off is bad news, I can tell. She's up to something, something that involves the Royal Guards here as well, and that's why I need to need to cause as much uproar as possible amongst the authorities and her so I can stop her...

@,

"Tch. Do not presume too much. I've found that many wandering swordsmen are skilled mages. Besides, this portal could have been prepared and cast from a scroll- an easy task, even while on the move. I wonder what makes this spot in particular special, though..."

Before he could continue, a small green light appeared in midair, as if a black hole decided to suddenly change colors and manifest. A pair of hooves opened up the hole and widened it and, soon after, a stallion made of spirit energy stuck his head out and looked around before getting out.

"Well... here's this place again. Now to go and find... oh, hello there. Not sure how I missed you."

Tsor'Ekoh scowled and quickly cast a simple freeze spell. Agririon flinched and closed the portal- but the hesistation caused him to get hit by the spell. While it didn't freeze him- he had no physical matter to freeze- it seemed to solidify within him and weigh him down. He cursed slightly as he began to back off.

"Oh, it's Mr. Ice Head and some rich pony who looks ticked off. Lost a necklace or something?"

"I bet you're involved in this somehow, harlanaid."

"First, don't use language like that, there are kids around," he said, glancing at the rich mare. "Secondly, I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Lies and schemes."

Another blast of cold, this time deflected by his wraithcloak. He glanced towards the rich mare. "Listen, madame, I literally have no idea what the hell this guy is talking about," he bluffed, "I'm just coming back from running an errand for a friend. Ice Head's never loved me to begin with, we have a history. What the hell are you all doing here, anyways?"

Despite the immaterial pony's insistence, Carnelian was not buying an ounce of it.  The coincidence was just too much to not consider.

"...It sounds like you have something personal against this..." She stopped, chin under hoof, considering the situation. "Though you've never even met her..." She looked off to the wayside now, more heavily focused in thought than ever, then suddenly turned up to Raze, all tension gone in an instant.

"Well, that's fine. I mean... somehow, despite the situation, I trust you. You don't come across to me as any sort of schemer. Just...troubled." She paused in contemplation, figuring that was the best way to put it out there. She didn't know this stallion, but she could sense a wounded soul when she saw one.

"Well, considering..." As an after thought, she cast a spell, a small white line zipping from her horn, and over towards Ice Blizzard. It sank into his fur, and from there, began spreading, healing most of his injuries(though it was still best that he went to a hospital). She cast a similar spell on herself, letting out a rush of relief as her injured leg stitched itself back together. "I just healed both of us, and I can still keep going." She stuck out her tongue. "This sounds like my match."

Caliber remained mostly silent, through the conversation the three were having, choosing to stare at the ceiling instead. A few additional pops were heard, as they conversed, but other then that, he didn't make a sound.

Sitting up, suddenly, after Ivory was done talking. "...The healing magic here is really something else..." He muttered, starting to somewhat get the cast off him. Enlisting in the help of Sparky, to cut away some of the more durable material. Using a sword to cut himself loose would feel a bit excessive.

Although...Just because he was being quiet, doesn't mean he wasn't listening.

"So, lemme get this straight...You cut her tiara, and stole it, because you don't like her. And she's planning something. Something you plan to stop. Call me crazy, but going about it alone isn't the way. You're gonna get yourself killed, or worse, manipulated by her into helping her without you knowing. And causing an uproar to makes yourself known--probably shouldn't have done that. You were more likely to stop her, when she didn't know you existed, giving you an element of surprise...But hey, whatever. All I'm saying is, try an' get some help. You'll need it."

He had gotten his cape, saddle, and sheath on by now. Buckling in his equipment, and settling into his usual look. And from the worn look on all the items, it was obvious he was a traveler, that was no stranger to battle. He looked over at Lektra.

"Hey, does tomorrow for All-You-Can-Eat sound good? I gotta go check up on someone."

@Fractured

Raze remained silent; she wasn't wrong, after all. He was troubled. For the longest time, the corrupt and powerful were his enemy. He had learned firsthand what they could do and what they were capable of, and he swore to himself he'd wipe every single one of them off the face of the earth. He tried to forget what happened on that day, when he brought upon his Sensei's death with his own hands. And yet... he still couldn't help but remember and feel empty about it, like an important part of him had been stolen. And when he saw the baroness going around complaining about the shoddy state of the arena... it pissed him off. The way she described it... was almost the exact same way those two other aristocrats described Sensei and his dojo before they burned it to the ground.

He looked at the irritated face of the stallion who mocked him. A dime-a-dozen story? Entitlement? What an ignorant and foolish comment, the exact words of a egotistical know-it-all that thinks he has everyone all figured out. It irritated him. Where was he when the flames burned everything In their path? Where was he when the blood of his fellow students and his Sensei splattered the walls like paint? Where was he when their screams echoed throughout the night sky, only to fall on the deaf ears of the arsonists and hired arms sent to kill them? His breathing began to get heavy, and he hid his face, gritting his teeth...

No. He had to calm down; he wouldn't let anger get the best of him now. He didn't think he should judge right now either. He sighed.

"I..." he began to say, then suddenly felt dizzy. He never realized just how tired he was from running and stressing nonstop. He tried to stand up, but ended up falling on Ivory, holding her on the shoulders before he could actually fall on her.

"...Sorry," he said. "It seems I've... wasted a lot of energy today."

@@Fractured,

Ice felt the wave of healing rush over him, and realized it was over. He had lost. Even after he had given it his all AND she could keep going? As he mentally kicked himself, he could only think of one word: Idiot. Rule number 1 of facing anyone new: Never let your guard down, and that's exactly what he had done throughout the entire match. I-di-ot.

He gave himself a facehoof, realizing the mistake he made. Assumptions were the mother of all f*ck ups, and this case was no exception. However, he couldn't help but accept the loss. For a moment, he breathed out, closing his eyes. Now wasn't exactly the best time to think about how hard he fell when he first needed to get back up. Literally and figuratively.

Ice sighed once, and walked up to Ivory with a soft smile, uttering a simple sentence,

"GG, Fílabein....gg. That's uh, Ivory in Icelan--...ya know....good fight, and stuff.....ow." He finished with a grin before turning around, and holding his head with his hoof in order to ease the massive headache he had acquired. Admittedly he was happy to have found a challenge and unlocked new potential within himself, but he knew he still had a long way to go, and felt a shred of disappointment. To just think that she could easily have gone on longer than that, and still have tricks up her sleeve while he was on his last puff...naturally, it wasn't that easy to take in, and only proved to him more that there's always someone better and that he needed to just keep doing what he already does: Train.

"...Push beyond the limits...and never stop..." he muttered to himself as he looked at the Mini-Clochette Rarity gave him, and walked towards the exit. He couldn't help but crack a small smile as he hoped Ivory was proud to have beaten the half champ...for what it was worth.

This match belonged to Ivory.

Ironblade scrambled to her hooves. Her sword continued to spin in random, reckless slashes until she slammed the tip of it against the ground. Sparks flew as she let the blade come to a halt before levitating it again. "And you talk far too much," she grumbled, turning her head to focus on Hiero with her good eye.

Calmly, holding her sword in front of her, Ironblade walked around Hiero until she was facing the edge of the arena. She snorted. With a flick of her horn, her sword flew straight at Hiero's throat. She seemed almost relaxed compared to her earlier posture.

The voice seemed to halt for a long moment. This wasn't a pony at all? Strange considering ponies were what mostly came into Bangcolt on a daily basis. Out of curiosity, the voice asked a question. "Really now....then what are you? What quarrels do you have with ponies?"

@@Literally Snails,

The voice seemed to halt for a long moment. This wasn't a pony at all? Strange considering ponies were what mostly came into Bangcolt on a daily basis. Out of curiosity, the voice asked a question. "Really now....then what are you? What quarrels do you have with ponies?"

"My name is Snowstorm. I'm an Imp in a damn handsome disguise." Snowstorm explained. He blinked once and then opened his eyes again to reveal the entirely black eyes he was born with, but he was hardly outside of his disguise completely. "For what reason is my quarrels with ponies your concern, I wonder."

(From now on, you decide when your power works and what it is you need to make it work. It's all yours now, but you'll have to develop it :P )

Mni placed the other end of the thread in his mouth and let out a clench-toothed grin before the rope started to glow, making it stiffen. He then began spinning around in circles with some delicate hoofwork, making Jade begin to spin around on the world's worst merry-go-round with the intent to crash her head first into some of the dead trees around them.

(... :pinkie: )

Jade grunted as the rope stiffened around her, and she felt herself fly off the ground thanks to Mni yanking her. She tried not to feel nauseous as she was spun around in circles, with her careening toward some dead trees.

The idea of her skull being crushed against the trees made her heart skip a beat in genuine terror, and her emotions caused a spark inside her. The spark of panic caused her to reach for her sword out of instinct, which echoed with the SHNG of steel and burst with a fiery red aura around its blade.

She swung herself and tried again to desperately slice through the rope, and hopefully bounce off the dead bark with her hooves.

@@Literally Snails,

A small gasp was heard when the Pegasus showed off his black eyes that were darker than night. This was interesting to say the least. Nothing like anything she had seen before. "You are...a strange one. And my quarrel with ponies is all this stupid disrespect for nature."

I nodded at this. I believed him but chose to stay silent and just listen to things.

"Oh believe me, I know exactly what happened now. Sparky told me everything. It was a great ending to a great match." I said this with a grin.

"It's a business. I understand. Do you need help in your endeavors though? Don't really like those who feel themselves entitled or having authority over others. I make stuff. For a fee, of course. I don't like you enough yet to give you free weapons of mass destruction." I chuckled. Weapons of mass destruction? Nah. Maybe.

"Fine, but you better keep your promise honey and call me tomorrow, or I'll come looking." I chuckled and turned to the others. "Seriously though we're not together. Just friends going to eat together."

So basically the rest of my day had just cleared up. "If nobody needs me, I have a shop to run and enchanting to do."

Raze looked up at her. She's like me, in a way, he thought. He listened to her. Offering her services? From what she said before, she was an inventor... Just then, he remembered something. He stood up, still dizzy.

"There is... one thing." He reached into his saddlebags, and pulled out a rolled up piece of paper. He unrolled it, revealing a very intricate hand-drawn sketch for a weapon of some sort.

"I knew a guy in Dodge Junction," he said, looking at the sketch. "Old guy, but a great weapons maker and blacksmith, one of the best I've ever seen. He took a shine to me and took me under his wing at one point to pass on some of his skills. We wanted to create something together, but not something ordinary. We wanted it to be a masterpiece, our masterpiece. So this is what we came up with." He showed the sketch to Lektra. On it were dimensions and constraints, along with various notes detailing what features would be on it. Overall, it was described to be a "gun sheath" for a katana.

"Unfortunately, he had some problems with family abroad, and before we could start building, he had to leave Dodge to care of it, effectively putting him into retirement..." He sighed. "But, we managed to get the design and sketch done, at the most." He looked at Lektra. "Before he left, he wanted me to finish it in his stead, and I promised him that I would, but... I've been having a hard time trying to get it right. I know the design works, I'm just not as good of a weapons maker as he was..."

He looked at Lektra. "So, I'm asking you... please, help me finish this. Somehow, I think this will help me take down the baroness, give me an edge. I'll explain more if you accept, and I'll pay you up front as well..." He bowed his head. "Please... help me out here."

The baroness furrowed her brow in thought.  What she had called a plan was falling apart around her, as she expected it to.  Unfortunately, it had fallen apart at an unprecedented rate, and had gone from SNAFU to FUBAR in the few seconds it took for this ethereal pony to speak what he knew.  Drastic adaptations were need, ones that she was not going to enjoy.

sig-4576570.UYyoZLv.png

"You may call me Baroness Carnelian.  As to whether or not I have the resolve to continue my pursuit, I do.  What I lack is the patience and resources to turn an entire plane of existence, which you have stated is currently in a state of high alert, upside town for one pony.  If he plans to sell it there, fine.  Ponies die, empires fall, and things are just things, but he WILL have to pop his muzzle back in this plane at some time, and when he does, rest assured, I will be waiting."

Turning towards Tsor'Ekoh, she continued.  "You seem capable of sensing energy, and you also have conveniently avoided mentioning that our target's name was Raze until just now.  Can  you sniff out any other portals in this city?  If he has already returned to our plane, then he must have reappeared elsewhere.  Otherwise, I intend to know every avenue of approach he has available to him."

"Baroness Carnelian. The name is... familiar, in a haunting sort of way. Are you...?"

Agririon backed off and his eyes glowing faintly white as he thought to himself. As he did so, Tsor'Ekoh scowled. "I didn't know who he was before I knew he was involved. But if this fiend is here, and it's a black stallion swordsman, then of course it's this 'Raze' that he keeps going on about whenever we meet. I'm surprised he didn't bring along the full posse. It'll require some time, but I believe it's possible. But then again, it could be quite possible he's laying low in Mortus... As to how he gets back? Well, he disappeared here, and this fellow reappeared here, meaning that it's quite possible that there are only a few linked locations, which will narrow down our locations immensely- but it will require time, either way."

"No..." breathed Agririon. "It's the coincidence of a lifetime, isn't it?"

Before Tsor'Ekoh could make the cutting remark he was about to make, Agririon lifted his hand and a soft, green glow enaminated from it, illuminating the Baronesses face. However, absolutely nothing happened to either party- which caused Agririon to scowl and with a swift motion, summon his scythe.

"... you. Who'd known I would have found a demon's slave here of all places? Prepare yourself; what happens next will not be pretty. And before you answer, no, Ice Head, you win a front row trip into the soil."

With a gesture, Agririon summoned a blast of magic that, despite his initial attempts to parry with his own magic, sent him stumbling off the roof- although no collision with the ground was heard. Agririon assumed a ready stance.

"No wonder you're after Raze. Your master sent you to go conduct his own personal assassination, hmm? Well, he should've known better to send someone who has renewed the pact with him for over twenty five generations. You're a wanted girl in my home, lass. Time to end the bloodline."
