What don't you like?

- Whenever the CMC do anything "hive mind", like dawwwing at the same time, chanting spontaneously, etc.  It just doesn't make sense.

- The way Shining Armor yells "Twili!" whenever he sees his sister.  I get that he needs some kind of nickname for her, since he's known her longer than anybody else in the show.  But that's the best they could come up with?  It would have been a lot funnier if he called her by a (previously undisclosed) middle name that she was embarrassed to have.  That's right: I'm arguing for the existence of a Twilight Fiona Sparkle.  Or...something.

- How Mayor Mare was oddly obsessed with getting her hooves on the hypothetical money that Applejack might win at the rodeo.  Seriously...that bitch mentioned it like 4 times!

Howdy folks!

Lets see.

In Just For Sidekicks when Spike asked Rarity to take care of Opal.

He went gaga over her again while RD hinted at a reward.

She gave him a small gem with hesitation on her face.

I was like huh??

Instead of that oh I dunno look she shoulda gave him a bigger gem.

With more affection. ;)  (Sure thing Spikey-Wikey)

(In Dog & Pony Show she gave him big gem as a reward but used it as bait so he & the rest of the ponies can rescue Rarity from the Diamond Dogs)

Thats all fer now!

I don't like Twilight with wings :(

I quite like the odd song, but I don't like musical episodes

I don't like it when background ponies collectively act as if they're a bunch of morons

It can be a cheap way of advancing the plot sometimes.  Still, it can be entertaining.  South Park does this a lot: the towns people get some wild hair up their ass about something, or they get all up in arms over nothing.  People getting together as a group and acting stupid is sadly common, yet hilarious in a facepalm-inducing kind of way.

That's not quite what the topic is about, but now that you mention it, Goldfish do have a peculiar odor...

Anywho, I dislike it when Rainbow Dash slips back into her pompous, conceited personality. When she acts like that, she's by far the worst character of the show.

Also, I really dislike Pinkie Pie most of the time. For all the development she's gotten, she sure doesn't do much besides make gags that usually aren't even funny.

I don't like Scootaloo at all. Scootaloo is just so annoying and I kinda wish she would tone down the whole Rainbow Dash fan girl thing. Like go one episode where she does not talk about RD and she talks about herself. Maybe we can learn something new.

I used to dislike the CMC. Although I adore APple Bloom, I got disswayed by them in Stare Master. But now, I've gotten to really like them. The most annoying thing in the show to me is the Oink Oink Oink song.

Aside from Mare Do Well, if she does that it's fairly light/not as much of a big deal, IMO.

Bullet points, ACTIVATE!

  • I've said before mutiple times, but I think it bears repeating that this is not The Twilight Sparkle N' Friends Show. I know she's techinically the main character, but it'd be nice if once in a while we could see someone else have the spotlight in an adventure two-parter or story arc. The biggest problem with Twilight being the constant hero is that everyone else in the story is made to be ineffectual (The Return of Harmony), not very usefull (A Canterlot Wedding), or disabled (The Return of Queen Chrysalis, and I know that's the comic, JUST LET ME BE!) so Twilight can swoop in, learn some lesson, and save everyone's flank. I think that's why The Crystal Empire may be my favorite of the two-parters: while Twilight is the central character, there's a better balance between screentime and story with the other characters, and in the end, another character gets to save the day and be awesome. I love you Twilight, but you're making everyone else feel bad about their ability to be protagonists.
  • Whenever the CMC episodes focus on earning Cutie Marks, it's a bit meh. I dunno, I guess it's frustrating that they've learned the same lesson three seperate times without them changing their behavior in the slightest.
  • I don't like when the show gets mean-spirited, like towards Spike in Just For Sidekicks or the running gag with Rainbow Dash in Super-Cider-Squeezy-Dammit-I-Don't-Care-6000. It just feels wrong.
  • Celestia needs better charcter development.  Three seasons in, and I still can't really define her personality beyond "she's wise, I think, and she likes to needlessy screw with people". That, and she's not very effective. She's become the Dumbledore of this series, except at least Dumbledore did some useful stuff once in awhile. Only once has Celestia actively gotten off her ass to do something, and that same ass was promptly handed back to her five seconds later. We keep on hearing about all these bad guys she took down 1000 years ago. Why can't we see any of that stuff!?

I hate dislike Fluttershy.

There I said it, for those of you who don't know I may be one of the few Fluttershy haters. I am vive la résistance against the yellow and pink plague that threatens to, and perhaps already has, taken over this fandom!

I remember back in the beginning of season one when Fluttershy had a purpose, when she was useful and actually brought something to the team. But as the series wen't on Fluttershy slowly became less of a character and more of a *censored for extreme profanity!* The only thing she is good for now is to keep bronies from throwing a temper tantrum if someone smart takes the character featured on their full-body pillow out of the show. Finally someone realized that she was getting too timid and pointless, so what to do they do? They come up with "Putting Your Hoof Down" so that now, when Fluttershy isn't being useless, she acts like a PMSing bitch. I hope you're happy DHX.

The episodes "Hurricane Fluttershy" and "Keep Calm and Flutter On" both gave me hope for Fluttershy, maybe she would make a comeback. But even in both of those somewhat-bearable episodes Fluttershy would likely have not helped out at all if she had been given the option. And as soon as those episodes were done she went right back to being helpless. I rest my case!

Okay ran't over, go back to worshiping your yellow bellied winged deity.

main flaw with the series is lack of cohesiveness on the writing team.

each writer has strengths and flaws, and are good at writing certain characters

but we end up with major characters acting one-dimensionally or OOC for some episodes, Spike and Rarity are the most common victims of this

I think there needs to be more peer review on the writing team, right now it feels like each person does their own thing

One of my complaints that I have is that a lot of the Spike-centric episodes seem to place him way out of character. In Just for Sidekicks for example, Spike becomes a greedy gem-wanting douche of a character (excuse the language), and selfishly takes care of pets he knows he can't just for the gems to complete his cake. We know that he normally wouldn't act like this out of the blue like that, which I why I dislike the episode so much.

Truth be told, I'm not too keen on the Spike-centered episodes, as I'd rather he be used as a secondary main character than a main one.

Something I dislike from "Just for Sidekicks" (the episode where spike is taking care of all the pets) The very first gem he gives away is the one that Rarity gave him, sure it was the smallest gem, but it should have been a bigger deal that he was giving that particular one away.

I dislike the butchering of Spike's character via the terrible character development he's had. See Spike at your Service for Prime Example of this. I also hate how Dragons are basically brutish jerks with little or no character bar greed or dumb teenage twerps.

I hate that I have to wait until season 4 to decide if Twilicorn is a good thing or a bad thing.

I hate that there's a chance that the season 4 intro will stay the same. That would just be silly.

I'm hoping that the efforts behind Twilicorn continue. That's the kind of game-changer that might let the CMC get their cutie marks, or let Rainbow Dash become a wonderbolt (I enjoy Digibrony's headcanon on that, there's an age limit and Rainbow just isn't old enough yet) (because seriously she's helped save the world 3, maybe 4 times now). Or maybe even let Pinkie Pie open up her own sweets shop! One can only dream.

The center picture is hipster superman. The other four pictures are my favorite webtoon, anime, band, and comic. They're pretty obscure.

They might actually not be but I've never met anyone who's heard of them.

A lot of recent posts seem to be citing a disappointment in Spike's inconsistent treatment at the hands of the writers.

Good.

It's been awesome to see his character arc emerge across the series (especially between Dragon Quest and The Crystal Empire) and after proving himself to be just as deserving of development as the Mane Six several times over and even becoming the hero in a couple of stories, episodes as OOC as Just For Sidekicks will not stand.
