All day long Blu Breeze has been at the Town Square setting up for the big Nightmare Night Festival that he has been put in charge of organizing. "Lets see here, what else is on the list that i need to do?" Blu looks down at his checklist and starts saying a loud what he has done and what he still has to do. "Ok, spooky decorations" Blu Looks up to see the decorations he had set up. "Check. Ok next, game stands" Once again, Blu Looks up at the game stands he can see. "Theres the Spider Toss, the Apple Bobbing hut, the Pumpkin Smash, face painting and my personal favorite, the Ghost Dunk. Theres quite a few more game stands set up, but I don't have time to go to every one of them." Blu's face gives off a big smile as he checks the game stands off the list and continues checking things off. "Ok, so we have the decorations, games, a banquet for later, tons of candy" Blu chuckles a little, then continues down the list."Oh wait, where's the desert part of the banquet I orders from Sugercube Corner?" Blu looks around worriedly and sighs. "Well, hopefully its on its way, I cant leave to go check." After thinking for a second, Blu returns his attention to the check list. "Ok, so the next thing on the list is entertainment." So Blu walks over to the stage where a band will be playing later. "This should be a perfect way to entertain everypony! Nothing beats dancing to music!" Blu claps his hooves together in excitement. "I cant wait for it to finally start!" Blu exclaims. "I even set up some spooky punch for everypony at the dance." Blu Breeze becomes so excited while he checks off another item on the check list that without realizing it, he has flapped his wings so much that he is hovering above the Town Square. "Woopie, guess I got a little too excited there." Blu begins to glide down when he noticed a few of the Nightmare Night banners are missing. "Thats strange, I could have sworn I hung those up. I dont have much time left I should hurry and get them up!" Blu Breeze flies over to the area where he had sat his decorations when he first started putting them all up, and there laying on the ground, were the missing banners. " How did you guys get over here?" Blu said, talking to the banners. "Oh well, I must have forgot. Now to get these banners hung up." Blu flew over to the different spots where he wanted the banners hung at and attached them to different lamp post. "Ok, one more banner and the festival will be ready!" Blu said with excitement. Just then he seen somepony walking over to the banquet with what looked like a wagon. "Hmm, it festival hasn't started yet, I wonder who that could be?" Blu ponders for a moment, then flies down and attaches the last banner to his back. Just as he approaches the unknown pony, he quickly recognizes Pinkie Pie with the banquets deserts. "Oh thank you, I was hoping it was just running late." Blu said with a sigh of relief. He and Pinkie talked for a second and he offered for her to come back once the festival was ready. "What, and miss free candy?! I wouldn't dream of it" Pinkie said with a grin and trotted off in her little hopping manner.

 

"Ok, where was I?" Blu asked himself after finishing setting up the banquet. "What was I doing before I got distracted?" Blu scratches his head and his hoof hits the banner he had placed on his back. "Oh! Thats right. I still have to hang this last banner up!" Blu flies over to the final spot and hangs up the last banner. He lands and takes a few steps back. "This looks great!" Blu shouts with joy. He then takes a flyover and makes sure everything is in order.

"Everything looks great to me! And its not even dark yet. I guess that means its finally ready!" Blu turns on the radio on the stage until the band arrives and decides to take a seat for a few minutes and relax while he waits.

[Moonlit 593]

A sky-blue Pegasus comes wondering near the stage, a look of bewilderment on her face. Anybody near can hear her eyes move in their sockets, as she tries to drink everything in.  She's not wearing a costume, and appears to be completely out of her depth and Blu doesn't recognize her as a local.

She pushes a pair of glasses farther up her muzzle, and trips over a chair she didn't see.

"Careful now!" Blu rushes over to make sure the pegasus is ok and helps her back up. "I cant say I've seen you around here before. Are you new here? Blu says with curiousity in his eyes. "Oh where are my manners, I'm Blu Breeze, but everyone just calls me Blu." Blu offered his warmest smile to this new pegasus. "What's your name?"

The mare uses her front hooves to brush herself off, "Thank You sir." Her voice has a unique ring to it, and Blu can almost smell the sea shore. "I'm Moonlit Serenade, and no..I'm not from around here." She looks around, "Actually I'm at a loss as to what is actually going on.." She immediately starts to panic when she moves a hoof to her throat, then stops when she moves aside her scarf to revel a deep green jewel set in a pendant.

She looks at Blu, "What is going on?" Her eyes, seen over the edge of her glasses, are a deep sea-green. She returns Blu smile, while brushing a strand of wet mane from her eyes.

Shadow came out of a portal, carrying a bag of payment he recently collected, on the stage. He reached back into the portal and grabbed his black tinted shades, and rested them on his scaly muzzle. He relaxed and leaned onto a nearby pole, using his shadow to make sure it doesn't fall, and pulled the bag closer to him

"I see" Blu now understanding. "Well it's nice to meet you Moonlit Serenade. This is the festival for Nightmare Night in honor of Nightmare Moon." Blu began to explain. "All the little fillies and foals can dress up in costumes and go door to door getting candy." Blu chuckled. "I love Nightmare Night. I used to go out different as something every year. This year I'm a Changeling!" Blu jumped with excitement, "Would you like to join me and the others in the festival? You don't have to have a costume to be a part of it. We have loads of game stands, food, and later we will even have a band coming a little later."

Redshell trotted twards the town square from the everfree forest "let's hope I can convince these ponies I'm in a costume or this will go down hill quick" he said with a slightly less gravelly voice you would expect from a changeling he had put tape at the base of his horn and wings trying to make them look more like they are fake "remember you are an earth pony in a changeling costume"

"Nightmare Night? Nightmare Moon?" She shakes her head, then nods toward Blu, smiling "Sure, It sounds delightful". Serenade moves away from the chair, before picking the fallen one up. "Lead on." If Blu, or anybody watches her closely enough, they notice that she rarely moves her wings and has covered the pendant with her scarf.

"Looks like I'm not the first one here." redshell said looking at the two ponies a good few yards away one was in a changeling costume the other in a simple scarf. "looks like I'm not the only one going as a changeling good makes my life easier." he flexed his wings one last time so he can stand keeping them straight. "now all I need is to make sure no one asks about my eyes!"

Two twin foals, one colt and one filly both with matching bright blue coats, waddled literally in their feathered costumes down a Ponyville street with the festival in their sights. Beneath their costumes, they each carried an empty sack for their upcoming candy hauls.

 

"I wish this costume wasn't so itchy," the colt, Fudge Cookie complained to his sister, Sundae Shake. "I like the sailor suit but the feathers are too much."

 

"I don't mind it," Sundae said. "Don't you think this bow matches the purse mom lent me?"

 

"Yeah, it looks nice," he complimented her. He then reached inside his blue sailor suit using his hoof and pulled out the head of a boa constrictor who stick out his tongue. "Squiggly seems like it in here, though."

 

"I can't believe you talked mom and dad into bringing Squiggly," Sundae sighed.

 

"Why not?" Fudge asked. "Ponies like to be scared on Nightmare Night, right?"

@Moonlight

"Sure thing." Blu said to moonlight with a smile. "I'm going to try and greet everyone that arrives if I can. I can't wait for my friend Silver Wing to get here. It took forever but I convinced him to be the dunking pony on the Ghost Dunk. It's my favorite game in the whole festival." Blu said with a large grin on his face. His excitement to the game stand could be heard in his voice. "It's really fun. All u have to do is buck that ball right there" Blu points his hoof over to the stand and the ball sitting beside it, "and try to hit it right on the bull's-eye in the middle of the circle. That will send the pony on the top of the tank down into the tank full of water." Blu chuckled a little remembering how he convinced his friend to be the Ghost for the game. "Here shouldn't be too much longer." Blu looked around to check and see if he could see his friend Silver Wing any where, but no luck. In his scan of the area, Blu spotted some new ponies that have arrived at the festival. "Oh goody!! More ponies! Oh, I'll be right back Moonlit." Blu said, then trotted off to greet the newcomers.

The first to catch his eye was a pony in a changeling costume just like his, except with a neat red shell. Blu trotted over to introduce himself. "Hey there! Love the costume." Blu giggled and gave a wink. "I love the color of the shell by the way. I had to fabricate the wings on mine onto my wings so I could still fly. Boy, was that no easy task." Blu rubbed his neck and gave a sheepish grin. "Glad you could make it, what might your name be?" Blu's eyes gazed with anticipation.

[Pripyat Pony 2,608]

An alicorn mare wearing a witch's costume trotted into the square. Clover loved Nightmare Night; it was her favourite holiday. She could still remember going trick or treating with her best friend, Stargazer... as well as guzzling all the sweets afterwards and pretending that she didn't have a stomach ache! Clover chuckled at the thought; yes, Nightmare Night was always fun. She just hoped that the other ponies at her first one after her coronation would treat her the way they had done before she became a Princess.

"Call me Serenade" She says to the retreating form of Blu, before turning her attention to the game stand. After giving it a once over, she turns her attention back to looking around. She freezes when she see's the Alicorn trot into the square, even at a distance the look of fear and terror evident on her face. Her head swivels back and forth, and she starts to back away, hoping to find a way out.

Shadow got up and strapped the bag to his side and then made sure his glasses were on and he reached into a portal and pulled out a weird looking candy, it was black with red zigzags all over it, looking like it was cracked, and a skull band around the middle. He stripped the paper off and popped into his mouth, He felt sparks flying in his mouth, from the combination of his fog breath and the candy. He walked around looking at the things the festival was holding. With a grin, he opened his mouth and breathed out a pure black fog, with some sparks appearing in it.

When Fudge and Sundae saw the commotion over at the town square, they trotted over as fast as their costumes would allow them and looked over at all the activities. Their hometown only had door-to-door candy collecting but never an outdoor festival.

 

"Wow!" Fudge exclaimed. "Look at this!"

 

"This must be the Ponyville Nightmare Night festival dad was telling us about," Sundae said. "What should we do first?"

 

"I don't know," Fudge said with a shrug. "Let's ask around."

So the twins marched over to the first pony they saw, which happened to be Blu.

 

"Hi, uh, we're new here in Ponyville," Sundae told Blu. "Nice to meet you."

Blu's ears twitch and turn to the sound of a voice directed at him. He looks around and sees 2 young ponies. A filly and a foal. "Hey guys, and welcome to the Festival" Blu said with grin. "New to Ponyville hu? Maybe that's why I didn't recognize you. Well, My name is Blu Breeze but everyone just calls me Blu. It's great to meet you two. What are yalls names?"

@@Moonlit, Clover saw the fear on the stranger's face and hastened over to reassure her. The last thing she wanted was for ponies to be afraid of her!

 

"Hello," she said to the stranger, giving her a warm smile. "My name is Clover, what's yours? Happy Nightmare Night!" Clover noticed that the mare wasn't wearing a costume. "If you need a costume, I could lend you one of my old ones. It wouldn't take a moment to teleport it here."

@@Pripyat Pony, "H..H...H...aappy Niigthmare Nnnight." Her teeth are chattering in fear, "I'm....Sssserenade". Every indication is one of Flight, her ears are back, her eyes are wide and constantly darting around. Clover gets the feeling that Serenade wants to run as fast and as far away as possible.

 

Clover, if she's paying close enough attention, does notice a few things that are different around this mare. There seems to be a smell in the air - sweet, with a hint of saltiness - like the beach after a storm. Her wings, normally moving in an agitated Pegasi remain still, and her eyes seem to be reflect alot of light.

"Yeah," Sundae said with a nod. "Our family is visiting from Bucklyn. We've never been to Ponyville before. I'm Sundae Shake and this is my twin brother."

 

"I'm Fudge Cookie," Fudge introduced himself. He then reached into his sailor suit with a hoof and took it out once his boa coiled around it. "This is Squiggly, my pet snake. Say, 'hi,' Squiggly."

 

Squiggly smiled and stuck out his tongue.

Initially Blu jumped at the sight of the boa curled around the foals hoof, mainly because it just startled him since he didn't expect it. After looking at Squiggly for a second Blu spoke. "Wow, now that is cool! So you have a pet boa hu?" Blu fluttered his wings with excitement as he said this and remained gazed at the snake. Blu has always been fond of reptiles and to see a Boa up close like this just star struck him. "He sure is a fascinating creature. I love reptiles!" Blu stated to Fudge. "It's a pleasure to meet you Fudge and Sundae, and you too Squiggly." Blu extended his hoof to pet Squiggly on the head.

 

"Wait, did you say that yall two are from Bucklyn?" Blu's eyes grew and almost sparkled with enthusiasm

Redshell trotted into the town square seeing all the ponies "this is going to be fun tonight" redshell then saw a pony with a snake "what? Why does that kid have a snake? It doesn't matter, if we can bring pets then maybe I should go get mine, wait no he is timber wolf that would probably be scary to some ponies, to hell with it." Redshell said turning and running into the everfree forest looking for his pet timber wolf

Squiggly hissed happily and welcomed the pet Blu gave him on the head. Fudge then put his hoof up so Squiggly could rub against his cheek. "He sure is fascinating, isn't he?" Fudge said. "I don't have to feed him too much because he eats all the mice in our house."

 

Sundae nodded at the mention of herself and Fudge being from Bucklyn. "We sure are!" she answered. "We live right across the bridge from Manehattan. We love it there, Everypony's so nice and we have a lot of friends at school. We took the train to get here. Dad said he had a business meeting so he couldn't come. He works a lot."

 Shadow saw a pony run into the Everfree Forest, Shadow grinned as he slid into a portal and came out right next to the pony and said, while quietly hiding the clanking of his metal legs and sucking on his candy,

 

"So, where are you going? The festival is the other way."

"Holy shit! Umm I'm going to find my pet," redshell said running faster. "we live in here so please leave pony, this forest is my property." Redshell said looking derectly into this pony's eyes his own eyes glowing oh shit redshell quickly closed his eyes after relizing they was glowing "please don't tell anyone about that"

Shadow laughed and took off his shades, revealing his red snake-like eyes. The moon light hit his metal wings, show that he had scale all over his body. He said, with an attempt at a friendly grin,

 

"Don't worry, I can keep secrets really well, Name's Shadow. So what is your pet, if you don't mind me asking?"
