I wouldn't mind if she came back to simply visit and maybe apologize to Princess Celestia, but in terms of living in Equestria I wouldn't agree with it.

You misrepresented the reasons why many bronies criticized the Twilicorn, and you misrepresented reasons why some don't want Sunset Shimmer to join FIM. You threw a strawman; and, yes, an opinion can be one.

It always amazes me how Bronies are so against change of any kind. Case in point? All the rage when Twilight became a Princess. I would love to see Sunset Shimmer return to Equestria, but that would cause far too much irrational rage in the Brony fandom for Hasbro to risk it.

 

I was making my points, without showing any sort of rage and without any disrespect towards any of the Sunset Shimmer fans.

 

I would be interested what your reasons are, for Sunset Shimmers inclusion of the main series.

My reason is very simple, and perhaps a little selfish. I just really like the character. I could see her becoming Twilight's number one student (Not assistant, that's still Spike's job).

But thinking a character is nice, just dosen't cut it.

 

Sunset Shimmer seems to be already pretty good in magic and friendship. Why does she need to be Twilight Sparkles student for this?

 

She needs some kind of motivation and in my opinion, i can't see her having any. Sorry.

No problem. I doubt if Hasbro will put her in FIM anyway. It would mess with the flow of the Equestria Girls franchise.

I'll be honest - I don't see her as a strong or likeable character, even now that she is "reformed" - she's just kinda angsty now, and still prone to fits of anger. 

Currently, I'm more wondering what role her and twilight are supposed to play now that they decided "She's just like twilight but red!" for the EQG dynamic. Seriously, they made her be all about loving science and learning and magic, with her being 100% twilight in winter wrap up in her chapter book (Sunset shimmer time to shine).

I honestly think they need to stop for a second and puzzle things out because, dynamic wise, Sunset shimmer and Human twilight are going to step all over each others toes in the group.

That's the whole reason the rest of the mane 6 weren't allowed to follow twilight into the portal..

You're not as far as I can tell.  But some people just like to argue debate.

 

I get where you're coming from though.  I can see Sunset Shimmer returning to Equestria for a cameo but not a full-blown crossover.  But either way, it'd be up to the writers to figure out how to make something like this happen.  And yet, even if Sunset's return was well-written, made perfect sense and didn't upset the continuity of the main show, there'd still be fans screaming bloody murder over it and threatening to leave the fandom.

I could not disagree more. I do think she should stay on Earth but honestly, I think she would rather stay on Earth. She's never given any indication that she would ever want to return to Equestria.

 

That being said, Sunset went from being a one note villain to one of my favorite characters in the franchise with a very complete character arc and a journey from evil to good. Do I think she should make an appearance on the show proper? Meh, I wouldn't be against it but I don't think it needs to happen because her actions in the movies form a very compelling story all their own.

Homesick of what? There is nothing in Equestria waiting for her.

 

Sounds like some people need to watch the deleted scenes and audio commentary that goes with for themselves in order to gain proper context.  It explains their reasons on why Sunset would be homesick.

 

There is plenty waiting for Sunset back in Equestria.

 

Homesick for equestrian magic working the way she is accustomed to, homesick for Princess Twilight, and also her former teacher Princess Celestia, and whatever family if she has one. There are plenty of things she could be homesick for to make it feasible.

 

​However the deleted scenes emphasized she was homesick for Equestrian Magic while she was struggling  to prevent it to avoid the appearance of cheating.

 

This likely implies she'll be joining the show after the next (and possibly last) film. 

 

The next film might not be the last one as Hasbro has plans to keep Equestria Girls running through and past 2017 if it remains profitable. Odds are pretty good that Equestria Girls could outlast the main show until G5 comes along too at this rate. Actually in their last business quarterly report Hasbro mentioned a desire to make Equestria Girls more of a regular thing instead of an annual deal, so it sounds like some of your assumptions are going to be crushed.

 

Another film won't impact the MLPFIM movie in 2017 since another studio is handling that project.

 

A lot of assumptions are being made here, and the whole Sunset is homesick subplot that was dropped resolved itself as Sunset Shimmer decided to stay with her human friends. If they bring it up again they can use the next movie to resolve without impacting the main show. If they introduce her in the show it will likely be done as a guest character so most of the other assumptions can be chucked out the door as well.

 

This really is making a big deal out of a non-issue.

The two Twilights have met and nothing bad happened, so you can kiss that assumption goodbye and throw it out the window as the franchise will do what it wants to do.
