Video games are canon but television isn't?

I've been doing some thinking regarding Button Mash, and suffice it to say, i'm confused. Why is it that video games are canon but TV isn't?

Because TV's haven't been shown on screen.

Equestria is a weird hodgepodge of technology because more elements of our world and culture are grafted onto it in cases like everyday items instead of spending the time to develop them to make more sense in the pony world. They aren't really a main focus of the show anyway (also, it's fun to speculate).

 

I'd think in this case they came to develop programming before broadcasting. It's plausible considering technology is not necessarily linear.

The only reason they even have video games is because of button mash, to stir up the fandom.

I guess the show wanted to have some technology but not super modern technology.

If humans had ready access to magic, our technology would have evolved much differently. Ponies don't need to develop broadcasting, since they can already send instant messages via magic or dragon fire. Plus they're non-magical ways of delivering messages are already much faster than our ever were. 

 

So magic has replaced Broadcasting. But from what the show has shown us, Magic has not yet replicated Programming, so that would require technology. hence Video games.

Have they ever shown anything on the actual arcade cabinet screens on the show? If not, then maybe the arcade games don't use video screens but are all gears and pulleys to move the objects around behind there, and the glass is just there so impudent colts and fillies don't go poking their hooves where they don't belong and break things?

 

The inner workings of the arcade cabinets could all be 19th century entertainment tech.

It's not out of the question for Equestria to have similar stuff set up.

Like some one said before its not cannon because its not cannon. Nothing is until it cannon, until the writers write it in. There's no cannon reason in the sow why some things exist and others don't, and there's not much if at all info on technology and its development in there world. The only thing we got is making up unscientific but unfalsifiable claims like half the claims  here.
