Celestia's special powers?

So princess luna keeps the darkness at bay and protects the dreams of ponies, mainly children, while also raising and lowering the moon, and does diplomatic princessy type things

 

Princess celestia raises and lowers the sun and does princessy type things.

 

What ELSE does princess celestia do? Does she have special powers like luna does with the darkness? Or is she just an unusually tall pony that likes bananas and sends people to the moon..

Aside from raising/lowering the sun, we have seen Celestia enter the Astral Plane in a similar manner to Luna entering the Dream Web.  But I'm not sure what she'd be doing there unless she's promoting another unicorn to alicorn status.

Aside from raising/lowering the sun, we have seen Celestia enter the Astral Plane in a similar manner to Luna entering the Dream Web.  But I'm not sure what she'd be doing there unless she's promoting another unicorn to alicorn status.

we know what she's doing there - she is spying on twilight's life - creepily I might add.

Celestia is such an under-developed character, that I can't recall what other worthwhile abilities she has other than dragging the sun up and down.

 

As the mentor of Twilight Sparkle and perhaps one of the most important character on the show, she only appeared ONCE in this concurring season, when she was covered by Gak and can't use her magic.

 

Here's a list of what I could recall that she did across the show:

 

- Throwing her sister (and almost Twilight) to the moon.

 

- Giving ponies wings, summoned by Mr Larson.

 

- Spying.

 

- Utilising Elements of Harmony, very occasionally.

 

- Reading letters, assigning Twilight duties.

 

- Eating bananas.

 

- Narrating occasionally during big events.

 

And I can't think of any other illegitimate examples. Shame we can't know her more because there isn't any chance.

Stronger than Star Swirl and five other Unicorn.(They raise the sun but they will lost their magic if they do that)

Not really.Starswirl use unicorn magic while Celestia use alicorn magic(The magic that restore Star Swirl and five other unicorn magic).

She can't send people to the moon without the elements of harmony and i never saw her eating a banana. So far she is just an unusually tall pony.

 

Cadence with her magic of love must be impressed.

Raising the sun...that Twilight can easily learn or Luna could easily prevent as Nightmare Moon, while Celestia only stood there watching, because there was most likely nothing she could do about it. Again.

 

Don't ask us, do ask the staff. The show says nothing.

I know - the banana reference came entirely from "friendship is magic, b*tch" - the flash animation where celestia offers bananas to people and then regardless of what they say she banishes them to the moon :P

 

so you're a beeeeeeiiiich.. that likes..mmm.. bananas?

C's powers

1) Raise the sun & in Luna's absence also the moon

2) Was holder of some of the Elements of Harmony but lost that when she forced them to banish Luna

3) Can travel to Astral Plane (Magical Mystery Cure)

4) Some precognition but by no means infallible (Luna into Nightmare Moon, for instance).  However, she did send T to Ponyville just in time to meet the other 5 elements.  Also sent T to Crystal Kingdom just in time to deal w Sombra but TOTALLY blew the call w Chrysalis

5) Just from sheer experience is probably a very good diplomat.

6) Also a very good mage, again from sheer experience.  Probably knew exactly what Star Swirl's book would do.

I don't buy that she turns ponies into Alicorns (because it would render the entire idea of ponies earning their Cutie Marks pointless, as well as anything else they did if one pony had full control over the destiny of others on a whim; if she can just do that any time, then anything they do is ultimately meaningless because she could step in whenever she wanted to).  I think what actually happens in MMC is more of a vision-quest/new-age self-discovery than anything else.  It isn't an Astral Plane, or anything like that, and what Twilight saw was just a vision of Celestia, manifested by her inner subconscious. 

 

However, I will say she is still a sort of MacGuffin solution to various problems at times.  So she is kind of a Zordon-esque character in a sense, but the characters themselves still have to earn their Cutie Marks and any other powers they get.  It isn't something that's just simply handed to them.

I guess you don't have much time to show off your powers when you've got princess stuff to do like settling disputes between other parts of Equestria, going to events that require royal attendance..  keeping the peace and maintaining order, between not just Equestria but multiple worlds.. Most of which involving some sort of mirror..

 

I guess it's kinda good to keep some of her powers a mystery.. it makes you wonder.. and curiosity makes you want to learn more about a character ;)
