And if the sun explodes in 4 billion years and I survive, I can just spend the time napping and daydreaming, who cares lol.

aha, the jokes on you. Our sun is too small to explode... it will however expand and consume the earth so you maaay want to relocate to Mars.... assuming nothing happens to that either when Deimos falls out of orbit and smashes into Mars in about 50 million years from now.

It very, very much depends. If my great love can't be there with me, what use is living forever? I'm young. I fear death, I honestly do. Of course I would choose eternity now, if given the chance. But things change. The world changes. Just listening to old people talking about how things used to be is enough of an indicator to know that nothing will remain the same forever. I know that many old people who are well into their nineties would rather die, because they feel they've done and seen enough. They're satisfied.

If my girlfriend would be with me, I would choose eternal life. If she isn't, then I'd rather die with her than live forever with only her memory keeping a part of her alive. It sounds noble and strong to say that memories keep people alive, but it's a mere shell. Just this morning, I dreamed about my mother who died five years ago. Seeing her for 'real' was so very different from the memories I can recall at will. The thought that I could only see my friends in dreams and memories that fade isn't a nice one. If choosing eternity means losing all of them, I choose death.

I know how princess celestia feels, I have goats as pets and it is terrible watching them grow old and die while I still have a lifespan that is much longer than they have. that is what it is like to live forever, you watch everyone grow old around you and die and then the cycle repeats forever.

but on the other hand 99% of the friends i have had have sucked and were not really my friends, they just wanted something from me ,so I choose neither LOL

It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!

For me being immortal is the worst thing that could happen. Being immortal is, for me because everyone got their opinion and I am fine with it, an endless pain. I mean even if you your body can't die, your mind evolve with the age and I don't think human can live forever without getting more and more crazy. But after all, isn't human already ? And I don't want to be in the 1st place to see the end of the universe and maybe is rebirth. So i will chose friends

To live forever is to know despair, to see everything you know fade and die, time and time again.... it's not a good thing to be the only constant.

Better to live a finite time, so the joys of life continue to have meaning.

  • 4 years later...

Friends.  I wouldn’t be happy watching my best friends die.

Sure immortality would be awesome, and I could make new friends, and then watch them die too.

Id just feel guilty for being immortal while having to see my friends die.  And I’d just miss my friends I originally had.  So no thanks.
