All this crazy stuff happening in the world

Just, omg. Random terrorist attacks happenning to people who- I'm sure, never thought they'd ever experience anything like that; explosions and gunfire at 4 in the morning, right outside people's windows, earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires all displacing people from their homes, losing all your possessions and loved ones, nations of people starving, or homeless, or getting blown up, or on whatever other genocidal agenda...this world is awful, and just makes me count my blessings and be so grateful that (while things are FAR from ideal in my life, and I wish I could be around more likeable people, and in a cleaner living environment), I really have nothing at all to complain about, by comparison.

How do you guys view your own lives in comparison to the lives people must be going through, when faced wth all these horrible events?

Well it makes me appreciate America even if others like to criticize it. It's not fair to discredit life's daily problems as irrelevant because other people have things worse, but it does help you appreciate the basic things we have that others don't have the chance to enjoy, like internet access and posting on this very forum.

America has its share of faults and probs, too, much as I'd like to pretend it doesn't when I'm able.

But I get your point

Yeah, I'm grateful for internet. I had some kind of connection error or something, just yesterday. Had wifi, but no internet for 8 or so hours, maybe? (Not tech saavy) wouldn't beleive how bored I was, without it. Haha. 1st world problems, right?

But hey, I still had electricity, hot running water, clean clothes, clean drinking water, food, a roof over my head, no serious health problems (that I know of)....

I live in Israel, a country used to these hardships. I'm not saying this isn't hard, but it's not quite the same as for people who have not experienced this in their home.

The most important thing is to remember that ruining your daily lives, your pastimes, your routines, making you live in constant fear - it's all the terrorists' intentions. So it's important to try and stand strong in the face of fear, to have hope and to not give in.

Well natural disasters don't count, its a simple fact of life their are literally places you really should not build things and you can't expect them not to happen as much as you can't expect the earth to not rotate or the weather not change... nature is nature it is neither kind nor cruel.

As for terrorism and the like, that is just people showcasing the worst of humanity. They don't make up the "world" and their are more good people in this world than bad ones thought its hard to see that with the media preaching nothing but doom and gloom and religion seeming to be the excuse behind alot of it as of late.

And to those of us that live in "better countries" like the UK and US (myself included). Don't be fooled. Poverty exists here as much as it does anywhere else... it just doesn't get the same press as say africa or syria.

I have really come to appreciate my own life after seeing the attacks on Paris.

A lot of people have no idea how good they have it in comparison to others.

kinda sounds like you're saying you didn't appreciate how good your life might've been before the Paris attacks...

That sort of thing really shocks me, which is why I usually avoid the news. Such type of news are hard to not hear, though.

I live in Brazil. Suffice to say is that I am grateful to live in a country where there are no major internal conflicts and that there are no terrorist attacks. And I am also glad for being capable of having my views without being reprimanded for them. We have our own share of problems, of course, but having a very welcoming and upbeat culture helps a lot :)

It is difficult to state such things without sounding condescending towards other people's problem. Then, just to let clear, I am not happy for the problems that other people have. It is just the opposite, it saddens me a lot and they have my solidarity :kindness:

I saw this video the other day, where a man played the song Imagine on his piano in Paris, a day after the attacks. I nearly cried! The situation is so sad... Twenty first century, and there's still war... Some people think WW3 will begin soon, but I don't think so. Why? Well, first of all, nations are not fighting againts themselves now, we are all trying to defeat a strong enemy called terrorism. Different interests, yes. But everybody wants to stop terrorism. Also, the world was so much different when WW2 occured, believe it or not, most "big" nations always try to find a way to peace nowadays, nobody wants a world war, with our new tech it would most certainly be the end of the world. Last world wars lasted years, a new world war would not even last one year, in the past the military had years of planning for a good offense against the enemy. In the world of now, which is super connected, nothing is a secret, the military couldn't even do their good strategies.

But well, that's just my opinion. I dream with a world with no countries

Like Lennon said (I love this phrase) : "Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for and no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace..."

I still have hope that humanity will find it's way to peace. Lets all hope so.

It's a cruel world, that's why I hate it.

The world is cruel. The world is harsh. There are genuinely evil people out there, and some of them aren't even aware of it due to being delusional.

It's very unfortunate, but it is what it is.

A lot of people refuse to understand and accept other opinions, they think that it's just easier to prove their point by force

So true and heated arguments have become much more frequent nowdays it seems oof with things in the world. There are better more civilised ways to discuss stuff.
