cider float 2,537 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 Since ponies don't have fingers, unicorns would have wedding rings on their horns. Where would the earth ponies and pegasi put their wedding rings?

ShadOBabe 18,997 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 (edited) Rings might be a mostly unicorn tradition. You don't need jewelry to get married, obviously. The rings are just an old symbolic tradition. But for ponies they could be earrings for all we know. I saw an artist that has a headcanon that ponies actually just use a lot of options for engagement and wedding jewelry. A ring as the pedant of a necklace was one option. Bracelets were another. CookieK 74 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 (edited) Well Earth ponies wear them on their hooves,if your going by Hearts and Hooves, and it really depends when it comes to pegasi I saw one person have Pegasi wedding rings be earrings, you should also remember that wedding rings didn't become a item that was dictated that you HAD to get to prove your love until they started those diamonds are forever marketing ads, before then only rich people had them. Though show wise it looks like unicorns are the only ones that have actual wedding rings. Edited December 4, 2015 by CookieK
TopQuark 409 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 I think that the wedding ring might just be a unicorn tradition. Their horns are the only appendage which a ring could be useful for, so I'm sure the other sub-species have their own traditions for marriage. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,309 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 I could see the Earth and Pegasi ponies using pendants as their own version of this. Whether it be a necklace or just a standard piece of jewelry, there are many ways they could replace the rings.

Kivil 1,721 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 Pegasi could put rings on their wings but that would be uncomfortable. ~My life is a bunch of Discord~Yes, the pun was intended~Kivil~
Unikitty 1,212 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 I best picture them putting a ring on a necklace. It's not an uncommon thing to do in scenarios where a ring cannot be worn on a finger.
Untitled Goose Q 5,137 December 4, 2015 Share December 4, 2015 Any Equestrian tradition of rings would have originated with Unicorns, as only they have an appendage suitable for them (barring leg rings). An Earth Pony or Pegasi would have a different betrothal tradition, if they had a ring on a necklace it would most likely be due to the blending of traditions that inevitably happens when you have multiple cultures living together. That means, of course, that some Unicorns would follow Earth Pony or Unicorn tradition, unless the Unicorn culture became dominant, which appears unlikely to me. I can't currently think of a likely Earth Pony tradition, but I can see Pegasi not having any sort of jewellery, due to the fact that it could become a liability during flight, or become lost during such. Flying_Endeavor 73 December 5, 2015 Share December 5, 2015 (edited) Yeah, this is a question I have always wanted answered... O_o Wasn't Big Mac looking for a ring or something when he was under the love potion with Miss Cherilee. O-o unless I remembered it differently... that episode was such a long time ago. Biggybrony 244 December 5, 2015 Share December 5, 2015 You blow in one hoof and fingers come out the other. It might be that only Pinkie can get married in that case though. I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah? I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something. cider float 2,537 December 6, 2015 Author Share December 6, 2015 The thing is they don't keep their wedding rings on as you can see with Cadence, Shining Armor, and not sure where Mr. and Mrs. Cakes have theirs on.
