Snake 516 February 5, 2016 Share February 5, 2016 I really like the changelings personally. I like insects for the most part, and I like their wings and the holes in their bodies. The lore surrounding them is really mysterious and interesting too, I'd love to get to see more of them and Chryssi in season 6! 1 signature by; https://mlpforums.com/user/26424-minikirby123/art by; http://pucksterv.deviantart.com/ profile picture by; https://mlpforums.com/user/36534-prophet/
Lord Bradley 1,319 February 5, 2016 Share February 5, 2016 (edited) Well, yer probably not the only one, but personally, I kinda find them cute In other words, if I saw a changeling, I would give them a big 'ole hug and give them a nice snack in the process I'm also really thankful that they bypass my phobia for bugs. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch A Canterlot Wedding or read the comics ;-; Edited February 5, 2016 by Sansley 1 Special thanks to @Proton for making the Signature!https://mlpforums.com/page/eqw-characters/_/approved/drakk-moonshine-r358I Am The One Who Hides Those Things You Never Find... Justin_Case001 4,930 February 5, 2016 Share February 5, 2016 (PS: I think it's ironic how has the rank of Changeling. ) Yup. He must be trying as hard as he can to post as much as possible to get out of that horrid rank, right? Anyway, I'm on the side that actually finds them rather cute. The little ones, anyway. I don't find Chrysalis cute, but just cool looking. I'll echo what's been said about the mystery and room for lore and speculation being a big draw about them. There's nothing much to speculate about the other villains, but the changelings have so much room for development, which makes them interesting. I've always especially liked the idea that they might not be entirely evil, that there might be much more to them than we think. There are few things in fiction that are as fascinating and utterly engaging as a relatable villain that you can feel for at times because there's something very real about their struggle that makes you feel sympathetic. I absolutely love it when I think I've got a character figured out, only to have my conceptions completely broken, and then be forced to rethink my feelings towards the character altogether. (This happened with Diamond Tiara in Crusaders, albeit in the other direction). I love seeing deeper sides to a villain, and almost feeling sorry for them at times. Often times, the antagonists of stories are not truly evil, but just misunderstood, dealt a bad hand in life, made bad decisions, etc. These are often the best stories. Of course, sometimes it's great to have the blackest, simplest, most pure evil, too, as in the case of Sauron, Sombra, or Tirek. But I think that in most cases, the gray areas are by far the most interesting. And I often wonder and speculate about the changelings falling into this gray area. I love this painting because it makes me think more deeply about the changelings, makes me wonder about what we don't know, and makes me feel strangely sorry for Chrysalis. It's like...even if she's monstrous, her species may not deserve to die like this.
Midnight Chimes 69 February 5, 2016 Share February 5, 2016 Something I don't think has been brought up is their appeal as a ponysona. The ability to shape-shift, combined with their villainous tendencies, makes a changeling OC immediately come across as sly/devious, which is a fitting representation for how some members of the fandom are, or how they want to project themselves. Then there is the fun you can have with the whole impersonation thing. If anypony asks, Midnight Chimes is absolutely, definitely NOT a changeling... *looks around suspiciously My YouTube analysis/music channel My fanfiction
SilverStarApple 850 February 6, 2016 Author Share February 6, 2016 I don't know, they're kind of cute for grotesque insect pony things. I think it's due to the gorgeously cartoon art direction of this show. Almost nothing can be considered objectively ugly in this cartoon. Saddle Rager. Also, making a Changeling OC seems like a cop-out. I've seen three types of it so far: Sad Woobie that hates eating love and wishes it could be loved, hates its hive, hates its species, and so on, Evil manipulator that eats love and babies and is 999% edge, and the one seen in clopfics, the one that literally only exists to do a certain act. I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. If I must live as I did before then... -Lelouch, Code Geass - My NEW DeviantART: http://SilverStarApple.deviantart.com/Want to make money for being an AWESOME PONY? https://www.tsu.co/Epsilon725 My fanfic, starring Silver Star Apple: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/224996/the-shining-silver-star-of-the-apple-family
Deae Rising Shine~ 57,261 February 6, 2016 Share February 6, 2016 Well, there is ALWAYS one person, who likes(or loves) something. No matter how ugly or whatever it looks. I find them not too ugly. I find that Tirek looks more ugly XD Were afterall in a kids show, if the writers REALLY wanted to make them look ugly, scary and traumatizing, those episodes never would get under "Mature Rated" for sure. And I'm sure, having a changie as a special somepony could be interesting XD As others said, we only saw Chrysalis changelings, but like the one in episode 100, their might be friendly ones. Mayby they are other hives with better queens, or some, that despite the ways of their queen and living alone somewhere. Until we get more informations about them in any further season, mostly of stuff was brought up by the fandom. And I mean, some artworks made them look just cute of course there are also even more creepier artwork, that I better not post Mayby I don't would say cute or so, but they don't look ugly or horrible neither to me. So yeah, all the love for snuggle bugs :3 Legends never die. Ponies neither. Rainbow Dash is best pony! Ava made by Pandora^^
Aurora Storm 83 February 9, 2016 Share February 9, 2016 I like how they look. I actually hope we learn more about them and they return. Not as another reformed character episode though, just so we learn more about how they live and feed on love and if they're all evil or have the ability for compassion, etc.
cider float 2,539 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 As all villains go MLP villains are not supposed to look cute but they are still far cuter than the villains from G1.
Wraith Stalker 55 February 10, 2016 Share February 10, 2016 No your not the only one who has this opinion I to find changelings ugly maybe more than you every time I see a picture of a changeling shipped with a pony on Derpibooru it bothers me because I know what that changeling is probably if not always trying and so does everyone else, but people like them truthfully the only changeling I like is the one from the 100th episode and even then we dont really know why he was there however I did get a laugh from seeing how the ponies reacted to his presence.
