What was the point of Sunset Shimmer becoming princess of the other events?

So before Sunset Shimmer even brought the crown to the Equestria Girl world why did she feel she needed to be the princess of all the formal events? As we remember she was the winner throughout all the seasonal formal events for three years. Just by coincidence Twilight's crown becomes the reward for the fall formal event which Sunset Shimmer has been good at winning.

probably the goal was to become populair and feared so that no one would cross her. This was so she would have a stable ground from where to work from so that nothing would stand in her way to get the crown. This is just a headcanon though for the weakest movie in the EQG series.

When you foolishly leave a world of real.power and magic and find yourself being an angry brat at a high school, winning to be the top of anything is pretty much the only thing left to do. Especially of you're already power hungry. Any power is better than none, and I don't think becoming president/ruler/whatever of that entire world was a possible first step xD.

She DID NOT get the crown of the Fall Formal FOR THREE YEARS.

She only did it once (the second picture) in the previous year.

 

 

Fluttershy: Sunset Shimmer wants to be Fall Formal Princess, and when she wants something, she gets it!

Just ask the girl who ran against her for Princess of the Spring Fling.

The first and third photos are from the "Spring Fling" popularity contest (who also had a "Princess" title for the winner, explaining the crowns).

  

Since there is no mention of Sunset Shimmer doing anything nasty before the spring of the same year EG1 happens; one may assume she actually performed honorably on the first two ocasions.

  

When Rarity joined in the competition, she started to mess with her (plus the "cyberattacks" to her friends, and the friends of her friends...); eventually getting consumed by the thirst for power and control that shows her face as the "human monster" of the third photo.

  

This also makes more sense, as it would be strange for the humane 5 to break two of the three relationships they had to each others for more than a year [6 months it is already too much].

No. It is not.

Also, the portal opens every 30 moons (2 + 1/2 years); so she could not had won the FALL formal crown three times; PLUS being about to do it a fourth time in less than 3 years.
