If My Little Pony were to end...

Now, I know its a little too early to be speculating on MLP's fate and its fandom because we all know its still going strong, but if MLP were to end, what will happen next? Will brony conventions keep on going or end up ceasing? Will we ever see a new My Little Pony with G5 that follows the main story arc? And yes, there are other shows that are similar to this show and have equal quality but doesn't live much to its hype (in my opinion, of course), including SpongeBob SquarePants, which became popular back then but then became a hollow shell of its forgotten memories.

Clearly to me, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic changed the generation of today's animated shows and series and even though there have been ups and downs regarding the show itself, it still surprisingly came out strong for the past five seasons, even when some of the episodes aren't always memorable but still held their own.

So as years pass by, what will My Little Pony's ultimate fate become? Will it evolve to G5 after the movie next year, or will this be the last of MLP after the movie release next year? Only time will tell. What are your comments on this on the show's current fate?

This subject comes up before every season starts :P lol

My thoughts really don't think that far. But from what I can think of right now, mlp is Hasbro's (or one of) strongest product name. They make large amounts of money all the time. Merchandise, collectibles, DVDs, and even with games. Also, the donations that come from mainly bronies and parents with children and money. Point I am trying to make, is that I wouldn't doubt it if they made a season 7, then moved to G5. It wouldd probably be a smart move, to maybe recreate what they were trying to accomplish with G3, so that it'll be more acceptable to the older audiences (that was the aim at least). Hasbro is well aware of the brony fandom, afterall, we probably buy over half of everything they sell (I don't think little girls are more into the series than us XD).

Anyways, just meh thoughts.

I think that the fandom would keep going. Fandoms don't die as fast as some people might think.

Take the TV show Firefly, for example. That show aired for only one season in 2002 (I think?). The fandom was strong enough, that they had to make a movie to wrap up the story. The fandom is still going strong today.

The FIM fandom will probably keep going. Some people may leave the fandom and it may loose some momentum as years go by, but it won't go away. I would bet that the fandom would last until G5 starts, and then possibly pick up more momentum again.

Bronies everywhere would spontaneously combust.

Idunno.  If you take into consideration other fandoms that have endured despite a.) a lack of new content, or b.) a lack of consistently high-quality content, I guess the FIM-centric fandom may well survive at length.  The fumes of fanfics and OCs alone should be enough to carry it into the future. xD

I won't bother about the next gen as I've no interest in it.

Keep this in mind: Battlestar Galactica was canceled after one season in 1978. Not counting that infamous 1980 series, the fan base lived on. Even in the face of stronger sci-fi fandoms and the 'cheesy' reputation BSG garnered, the fan base lived on. You know what happened? After various revival attempts (one of which was headed by Bryan Singer) Battlestar Galactica was revived in a VERY successful manner by Ron Moore and the Sci-Fi Channel (or SyFy as it is now).

What does that tell you? Considering the strength of the brony fandom there is no reason to think it won't continue, and it could very well be strong when we see Generation 5. Yeah, some contraction is inevitable. Fan artists & writers will move on and all, but as long as the love and inspiration remain; bronies will live on.

As far as conventions are considered, I would say only the biggest ones will remain; and even so in some sort of contracted form. Regardless, bronies will go on.

Obviously G4 will end at some point (although I think it will last longer than some people seem to think), but I can't possibly see Hasbro abandoning the My Little Pony brand. When you think "girl toys of colorful horses", you think My Little Pony. I imagine it's been that way since the 80s.

I'm assuming you're referring to FiM.

If that were to end, they could make other shows after it. One show could be about the children of the mane 6 and other FiM characters. Another show could take place hundreds of years before the events of FiM and we'd see a brand new cast of characters, with the exception of Celestia of course.

Many fandoms are still around despite their works ending, and due to the high impact these horses made to us, I doubt the fandom will vanish next day. Yeah, may will move on and the fandom won't be as lively as ever, but it'll still be here

Honestly, this fandom has made it up there with the likes of Star Trek, Dr. Who, Star Wars, etc. It's never going to fully die (at least not in our life times) because we'll still pay for it. It may go through gaps and breaks and hiatus ex, there may be new forms of it and different "generations", but the basic concept will still be there. Heck, they revived it from the dead three times before the burgeoning Brony segment of viewers/customers even existed. So, G4 may give way to G5 and G5 to G5.5 or G6, but regardless the basic premise will still exist.

Also, as others have said, fanworks. Oh, and by the way, the conventions won't stop until they stop making money. Considering there's still a "Custom Van National Convention" (a trend that's been largely dead for 35 years) I would imagine we've got at least another 20 years of at least one surviving Pony convention.

If MLP were to end, let's say, after this upcoming season, I wouldn't be that devastated but much like in shock that the show would stop airing, especially how the "storyline" is progressing as of now. Generation 5 will definitely be an interesting thing to see, if there will be another MLP with new characters anytime soon.

Other than that, I would still be proud and full of glee knowing that I stumbled into this world of techni-colored ponies. :)

I can see after FiM ends, next Gen will likely be a sequel series taking place after a time skip in the same universe, like Legend of Korra. They caught lightning in a bottle with the ridiculous mega hit that was FiM and Hasbro loves money.

While this is true, there are some that have been discontinued, like Everfree Radio. It has been a famous show for both radio and shows being regularly aired, but as years go by, hosts of specified shows retired and moved on to somewhere else. Soon came Canterlot Hill, but then the later years resulted in fewer shows aired and as a result, it got closed down indefinitely, as a result of poor management to that site.

Sure the brony fandom is still going strong, but its also starting to show cracks as the show went on. Even famous music artist like MandoPony and WoodenToaster had stopped making MLP songs and moved on to something else. Particularly from lack of interest, too. Sure it may be just the minority, but its also starting to give us warnings on the artists, both in songs and arts themselves, slowly drifting away from the fandom and moving on to elsewhere. And I know that bronies will go on, but eventually, they'll lose interest. Just my opinion is all.

(And I apologize if I bumped this thread. Thought I'd voice out on my reply.)

I've seen this question come up a lot.

And I think the final message for MLP FIM ending would be, "Your gonna carry that friendship"

Because the fandom Will last for a very long time. And Friendship will never die.

The show has played a big role. So if the show ended, that would be cool because that means the show has changed a lot of people

in many ways

*sigh*... I know some day it will end, whether I want it to or not...*tearing up*... but even when it does go, I will still be a Bronie, and will rewatch the episodes until they are burned into my mind...

and on that day, when the creators cease to create.... I will spend my time singing;

"we must part now, my life goes on

but my heart wont give you up!

ere I walk away, let me hear you say,

I meant as much to you...."

*hides in corner to sob...*

...ok, now i can finish...

"So gently you touched my heart

i will be forever yours,

come what may, i wont age a day,

I'll wait for you, always..."

The unasked questions are what bother me, not the answers. The answers give me clarity. Silence is in its self an answer, so ask! To not ask is to deny the existence of said question, and leaves you with just "what if".
