If you want a free software for draw don't use GIMP, it's think for manipulate photos. Maybe you should try Krita, it's is a nice program, and it even has an Stabilizer.

GIMP will frustrate you to no end. I highly suggest FireAlpaca (it's got many of Sai's features and it's totally free) or MediBang (by the same people, but more geared toward comics). I've used both of these and they work well. Both of these programs are also friendly to both PCs and Macs.

I have that. Haven't used it in a while.

I have GIMP and Krita and two versions of Sketchbook and Art Rage Studio and Pencil and Synfig Studio and the free version of SAI. Gosh, I need to do some cleaning.

 

Anyways, I'll get rid of Pencil and Synfig because I don't use those at all and I'll try FireAlpaca.

Also, what's the difference between FireAlpaca and MediBang?

Gnu Image Manipulation Program.

The free version of Photoshop. But bad for drawing.

Great for stuff like this:

MediBang is basically FireAlpaca + speech bubbles, textures, and other comic page features. I will say that between the two programs, MediBang is the most reliable because FireAlpaca can sometimes crash randomly. Not sure if it's just my laptop, or an issue with the program. MediBang also has an auto save feature in case something weird does happen. FireAlpaca is strictly for drawing, and it's very similar to SAI.
