I don't wanna argue canon (If Flash Could show up twice in FiM, then So can Sunny) Twilight took on role of mentor to Sunset Shimmer, by Rainbow Rocks' end. A deleted scene in Friendship Games shows Sunset wanting to return to pony Equestria, though. Now, somethimg that happens in the season 6 premier is rather interesting, possibly telling of the future of what might be to come in FiM, regarding Twilight's role with her first student-the one a certain alicorn sister failed to give proper tutelage to.... The inclusion and troubled past of Sun Burst. In a similar way, he was a former student of Sunbutt, failing to get where he wanted in life. (Also, he's a sun pony, same soat color and eyes as Sunset Shimmer....hint hint) Sunburst foreshadowing Sunset's return to Equestria, to show that Twilight's role as teacher to her in lessons of friendship is still relevant? Nagisa452 182 March 31, 2016 Share March 31, 2016 Because Twilight was busy with Shining and Cadence with their baby and couldn't fully devote time to assist Starlight with reunion with Sunburst, it's hard to say how she will perform. But as Spike said at the end of part 2, twilight still helped Starlight in the same way Celestia helped Twilight. My OC and Ponysona, Sundream Avatar created by myself. But Sunset uses the book- Her OLD Mentor's book, to reach Twi for friendship advice. Sun Burst being a royal sister's former student, with more book smart than magic application seemed too much like foreshadowing to Sunset Shimmer, who was a former student with more magic application than book smart, to be coincidence. And, if Sunbutt can have many students at once, so can Twi. She showed that, teaching the CMC. And, if Sunbutt can have many students at once, so can Twi. She showed that, teaching the CMC. She wasn't really the teacher of the CMC. She was more like a private tutor. Someone you go to for one hour a week, to get better at something you like or have trouble with. Also, EQG remains seperate canon. It's canon, sure. But it will never be part of the show, because if Sunset would be part of the show, we would need to reintroduce her to people, who don't watch Equestria Girls. It's pretty obvious that the writers use Starlight, as a way to give Twilight a student, without using Sunset and pissing of people, who totally despise EQG. Also, Flash is a background character and even there people flipped out. So far, Sunset Shimmer has yet to be mentioned at all in FiM proper, so the way I see it, Starlight is her only pupil. Twilight left Sunset Shimmer at CHS to learn about friendship by becoming friends with the Mane 5. Meawhile, Twilight literally took Starlight up as a student and she's giving her lessons and letting Starlight live her. Wind Chaser 4,768 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 The EqG franchise is pretty much B-canon to FiM, so whatever goes on with Sunset Shimmer will happen mostly independent of what goes on with Starlight. Sunset herself is becoming a mentor to Sci-Twi on the EqG side, and Twilight has a thankfully more developed Spike to help her with Starlight on the FiM side.
