Wait, from what I heard its not that they're saving the seaponies.

 

From what I understood, its that an evil force attacks equestria, the mane six are forced back, and have to find the ones who Encountered the Evil force first in the past: Which is specifically the seaponies who survived by fleeing deeper into the sea.

 

So its not saving the seaponies, its going to them for advice on what they're dealing with and possible ways to defeat the evil, and the seaponies are 100% (Or at least WERE) safe and its just equestria under attack.
