TheAnimatorOfficial 567 May 29, 2016 Share May 29, 2016 In my opinion it's at LEAST several years. You can tell. Not only do the characters mature with each coming season but their voices change too. Rainbow and AJ for example sound like 12 year old kids in season 1 but now they sound like they're somewhere between 18-23 in season 6.
cmarston1 5,964 May 29, 2016 Share May 29, 2016 Well from episodes 1 and 2 all the way to the Season 4 Premiere took an entire year. Than seeing how both seasons 5 and 6 also have Hearth's Warming Eve episodes, I would say that another year would pass because of that. So I am guessing that 2 years took place so far in the timeline for the show.

Ms. Ball adjusted the voices slightly (mostly AJ) to make them even more distinct and probably more comfortable. Out of the the adult voice actors she was the least experienced I think. Makes sense that someone's improving skill would come out in a character if they were new(er) to voice acting. I would age the show at about 2.5 years ... but I try not to overthink it too much.

I'd say they are in their mid 20's by now.
Steve Piranha 29,496 May 30, 2016 Share May 30, 2016 From S1 to S6, I think is safe to say at least 3 years transpired judging by how many Heart Warming Eves are so far (assuming they're like Christmas ) Notably, the time span between S1 through S4 doesn't seem to be long, as many things were done between the Mane6 for the first time, with S4 premiere marking the first year since the defeat of Nightmare Moon by the Mane6. Between S4 and S5 seems to follow the same ambiguously short time span, but S5 had the first HWE episode since S2, but the time span between S5 and S6 seems to be longer than usual, as we got YET ANOTHER HWE episode, and we're not even half season . That longer time span makes sense, as Cadance was pregnant in the later half of S5, and the premiere of S6, Equestria was doomed with DIABEETUS by McFlurry. Presumably because ponies have long pregnancy periods (would be around 11 months, if they're like real life ponies) 1 Sig by Discords
twiia 1,844 May 30, 2016 Share May 30, 2016 I'd say 2.5 to 3 years, but not completely consistent. 'Make me your Queen' Sig by Wheatley

Sidral Mundet 1,666 June 12, 2016 Share June 12, 2016 It's been about six years. I mean Season 1 came out in Fall 2010 and Season 6 came out in Spring 2016, so that's a little over five years but not over six. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.
