Should I Leave Derpibooru?

I actually just joined Derpibooru today because of this discussion. I've been looking at it for a while now, and I don't really see what's so bad about the site.

Maybe I'm just a moron at navigating, but the filters work pretty well for me. Hardly anything even remotely suggestive popped up while I was scrolling.

look in the general discussion lol.

So GFK39 wasn't banned, he just left and said he was banned? Mind if I get proof of that?

I don't wanna go into to much of a detail on why he left or why he would say he's banned but just know he wasn't and for proof just search his name on the forum search engine.

I tried looking for the keyword 'GFK39' in the search engine under "members," but didn't come up with anything. Did he use a different username on here or something?

Nevermind, I found him.

Because that's just a shortened version of it. It's short for ghostfacedkiller39

Yeah, I remembered that after browsing through my Skype contacts and finding him. He hasn't been on for months and I think he might've quit the pony fandom entirely.

Just curious: how would I be able to tell if an account is banned or not?

From the sounds of it, maybe you should leave.  What the others have said is true as well, when you can post NSFW on a site, it becomes very hard to tell what's offensive and what isn't, and if it's hypocritical to be OK with one thing and not another.  It sounds like it's pretty negative if it's something to talk about, so I'd say go for it and forget those guys.

I had a similar experience when I was about 12, and in the end I left the Warrior Cats Messageboard, it was worth it.

I've been a fairly active member there for the better part of a year or so.

You may know me as Mike over there.

I'd say the site is pretty good for finding art, and discussion. My only problem with it is there are a lot of members who aren't very friendly, or like to cause trouble.

As for the moderators, I'm going to have to say that I think the moderators do a damn good job running the site. You may disagree, but you have to consider that the site is huge and along with having to manage well over a million images, as well as over 150k users, and a big forum on top of that, it's not easy to keep track of everything. Which is why there are a huge team of moderators, especially compared to here, so it can get a little confusing at times.

And then TheSmilingPony, gotta give him credit, he has low tolerance for BS, and is happy to call out certain members, like a few I can think of, but he manages despite how things are there.

I think the best way to describe Derpibooru is it's really varied.

That's what I've noticed, too.

I've seen people get banned off this site for the way that they had stated their opinion, not because of the opinion itself. I'm not going to go around throwing names, but I've known a few goodhearted people who are generally nice but have very strong opinions, and unfortunately will get aggressive if those opinions are challenged in certain ways. I've also known others that have gotten warnings from mods that their posts weren't of sufficient quality, but then took it to the extreme and thought they were being restricted as to what they were allowed to say, which ended up in them backlashing and getting banned for it. There was probably a bigger story to the banning of this GFK39 dude.

Hey there @, due to the nature of this thread (personal discussion rather than impersonal) its better suited as a blog. As such, Im going to go ahead and lock the thread here. Again, feel free to copy and paste the info into a blog post should you wish to continue it there.
