PiratePony 8,475 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 I would give it a chance for sure! If it has the same spirit and feelings of the show with just more action, it'd be a nice spinoff. But I'd definitely give it at least 22 minutes of my time. Is there anything beyond speculation at this point that this show with come to fruition? I thought it was just a toy line. @@VG_Addict, because this topic has to do with the speculated "Guardians Of Harmony" spinoff and not the show "Friendship Is Magic" proper, I moved it to Sugarcube Corner for now. 3 Courtesy of @Sparklefan1234
ph00tbag 108 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 I would probably watch the hell out of it. My hope is that the development of the toy line hints at a bona fide spinoff down the line. Toys typically presage a development in the realm of the cartoons, so my fingers are crossed.
cmarston1 5,959 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 I guess I would give it a watch. It would at least have better worldbuilding than FIM.
EverEverOn 346 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 I'd give it a try. I'm not a huge fan of spin-offs, but if it's pony related, I'd give it a bigger chance.
Unlikeable Pony 2,698 July 17, 2016 Share July 17, 2016 Let's say there is a Guardians of Harmony cartoon, with more emphasis on action and adventure. Would you watch it? Depends on if its good or not really. I mean, that's kind of the most important thing, right? XD But a big thing that would be a game breaker for me about whether I'd watch it or not would be how much emphasis is put on the group and how much emphasis is put on Twilight (and possibly starlight). I liked power ponies for example due to the fact that it was an action adventure with all of the group being important, and without twilight being a super important Lynchpin that was the only important character, like happens in alot of two parters. If they could do that in a GOH series, then I'd be sold. however, if it ended up like how the S5 finale or the comics lapse into, where twilight's the Golden snitch of characters (I.E., the only thing that matters), then I'll probably not care; For example, how in Issue 4 of the comics how it all came down to Twilight being the only one of any importance who god moded to defeat Chrysalis while the others with instantly imprisoned without even a fight and just cheered twilight on? Screw that. or if its like Friendship games where the other 5 are power batteries? Nah, screw that as well. So the the thing is, I'd LIKE a more adventure focused series; hell, Its the thing I like most about the comics (despite my gripes about it) is that its a predominantly adventure focused series (in the mane series that is). The big problem is that I think it'll run even more into the issue of pushing the other 5 into being cheerleaders and power batteries while forcing even more focus on characters like Twilight and Starlight.
Wind Chaser 4,768 July 17, 2016 Share July 17, 2016 (edited) Given doubts on FiM's future, I think a reboot/spin-off like this is actually what the franchise needs right now. FiM's ratings have been declining, newer and better cartoons have been eating into its viewership numbers and merchandise sales, and people seem to be leaving the fandom faster than they're coming in. On top of that, a lot of people don't even know what to think about Season 6, so I think it's time for an idea with potential to stop waiting in the wings and get out into the world. Swifty 249 July 17, 2016 Share July 17, 2016 If this possible Guardians of Harmony cartoon is another big Celestia stomping session, then goodbye. Pretty simple.
Rarity Is Best Pony 634 July 17, 2016 Share July 17, 2016 Being a spin off of the main show would get me to at least give it a try.
TheAnimatorOfficial 567 July 18, 2016 Share July 18, 2016 As long as they put it on Cartoon Network.
Number62 1,258 July 18, 2016 Share July 18, 2016 If this possible Guardians of Harmony cartoon is another big Celestia stomping session, then goodbye. Pretty simple. I'd like to think that a show with more focus on action would allow Celestia to do her stuff considering her power and experience. Then again, after 120+ episodes of the current show with Celestia either being ignored or getting humiliated when alternative solutions were easily available, I find it hard to believe that the new show would be any different.
Ashen Pathfinder 16,161 July 18, 2016 Share July 18, 2016 As long as it is G4 related I would definitely give it a watch, but whether or not it would keep depends on how it treats the characters and how they interact with one another. Regardless if GoH/FiM are adventure or SoL based; what matters are the characters, how the interact, and the conflicts they have to deal with. As long as it does those competently; any possible GoH cartoon should be fine.
