Is Twilight fit to stay in Ponyville?

Looking back, not only did she NOT receive a "Welcome to Ponyville" song, from Pinkie- like Cranky Doodle did- but also, Sunbutt decreed in her letter, that the UNICORN Twilight was to stay there and continue her studies of friendship. And Twi is no longer a unicorn...

So without an official welcome song, and the terms of Sunbutt's contract since expired, is Twilight fit to stay in Ponyville?

I think it's a bit nitpicky, just because she is not a unicorn anymore. Twilight is Twilight, so whatever.

 

And Pinkie likes her, with or without a welcome song, so do the rest of her friends. So pfff...

What are they gonna do, kick the Princess of Friendship out of the town she's lived in for the last however many years, that she's saved multiple times, and made tons of friends in, because...she grew a pair of wings?

 

 I mean, if they were gonna do that, they probably should have done it at the start of season 4. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's just Twilight's choice now, Celestia's not gonna just order her to move back to Canterlot.

I don't believe it has been established that Twilight is a ruler, but exclusively has an established role and duty surrounding a just a concept (unlike Luna and Cadance who have both).

 

To the OP, not exactly sure your point holds water. I'm not sure a 'Welcome song' officially establishes residency of a town, and if it did I would likely need to see my opthalmologist for eye roll strain.

 

More to that, I'm sure that the coronation process included any revisions of legally binding decrees if they are anything like IRL coronations.

The circumstances of how she got there or what happened when she arrived don't matter. She has lived there for a while, is an active member of their community, and has many friends there who love her. I would say she has earned her place in Ponyville.

 

Besides, she has saved Ponyville and Equestria from total destruction several times. I think she is fit to live wherever she damn well wants to live.
