movies/tv Traditional TV is dying a slow and painful death

It's not dying. It's just slowly transforming into high-interactive smart-TV. Now it's normal to watch Netflix or Youtube right on TV in your living room.

I would say it's evolution!

That's why i said "Traditional-TV" in the sense that we don't watch TV Shows by a schedule.

I am not expecting that people will now throw their flatscreen TVs out of the window now. :P

Well, one day tv stoped be black and white and became colorful and I wouldn't say that traditional tv dead then. Then tv stopped be radio transmitted and became cable. Now it stopped be strictly scheduled and became interactive. I don't concider that old good TV is being replaced by something totally different. It's the same tv but with new features. Of course you can be disagree.

It appears that streaming services are overtaking TV nowadays. Why wait for your favorite movie to come on when you can watch it whenever you want, or even your favorite show.

*totally not up to any shenanigans* :ithastolookpretty:

it's really on it's last legs in the uk cause of the adverts being so aweful since brexit,
no this is not a debate on whether brexit is good or not, it's observational from a non-political stance

LITTERALLY DOUBLED

so yeah, i litterally watch foreign tv cause the adverts are way less obnoxious (mainly us and dutch tv)

Yeah in some ways I miss it. I'm definitely not a binger. My mind wanders when I try to watch four hours of a tv show and I start poking around the internet. One or two episodes of a show a day is enough for me.

And sometimes I just want to noise of tv when I'm doing something else. In that case I usually put in a dvd of a show I know by heart like MLP, Simpsons, or Futurama.

Freedom of choice vs. whatever's on, what should I do? :ooh:

Freedom of choice is an exaggeration. It's more like freedom to pay or to dig around the internet on iffy websites. Most people still just watch whatever's on their current streaming service.

It's actually been a pretty quick death considering tv's been around for almost a hundred years.

Also it can be fun to have a weekly date with a tv show. Ever had watch parties with popular shows? When FIM was airing I often watch the episodes when they premiered on streams I found on equestria daily.

I stopped watching tv when I realized how much propaganda they had on it. So I pretty much stopped when I noticed they were editing videos and such and choosing words for a narrative. Therefore I haven't watched tv for years. You know if they had decided to be politically neutral who knows I might have watched it. So yeah I prefer youtube anyway and when I want to watch movies prefer my own streaming services they are not trying to sell you a political narrative. While they may have some weird advertisement but still that is my take on that.
