Why do you like your favorite pony? Why does My Little Pony appeal to you?

My Little Pony appeals to me because it's cute, and occasionally funny (especially Discord).

It's like watching cat videos, but with little stories with morals behind them.

 

I don't actually watch the show for the plot, I watch it for its cuteness. The plot is just a bonus.

That's probably why I get annoyed when other fans criticize an episode because of its writing.

 

 

I like just about all of the ponies. I can't decide on just one, really. They're all adorable, in my opinion.

There isn't much in it between the mane 6 (/7) for me, as far as favourites go - all of them are interesting characters. Gun to the side of my head though, would be Rarity - I find her the most entertaining (I always find her dramatics hilarious).

 

It appeals to me for many reasons - but I think the characters are my main draw. They are all flawed in some respects, and shine well in others, with varying personalities that the writers (for the most part) compliment well with the rest of the cast.

 

But, I think some part of it is that it is light hearted - a lot of the TV shows I watch are things like House of Cards, Dexter or Daredevil etc, so are often quite dark or you have to keep somewhat engaged mentally to keep up with the plot. MLP is a nice change of pace (though I do enjoy the storylines too, they just aren't as complex as some of the other shows).

 

Aaaaand the fact that the characters are insanely cute, might also be an appealing aspect of the show too

I know it's for little girls, but I don't care XP mlp is an amazing from of escapism, you can just get lost in the awesome journeys the ponies embark on, and learn some valuable life lessons that are applicable in the real world along the way..

 

As for my favourite pony princess celestia... Err.. I kinda find her personality and looks rather... *cough* Attractive...

Neither i have a favorite, really. But from the design i love Sunshower Raindrops. But i don't know her as a character.

 

Well... why do i like MLP?

I guess... i like the imaginary world it takes me to. An imaginary world full of colors. But also, it has a nice feel to it. A show, where i can show the rather soft side of me, which i really like. It takes me to a more emotional world, where it is okay to be "soft".

I have been watching this "little girls cartoon" for the past 4 1/2 years, and the 1st pony that caught my attention was Rainbow Dash. To this day, she is still my favorite character in the entire show. For a franchise that was notorious for having characters with one-dimensional personalities, and only be interested in "girly" things, RD was just a breath of fresh air. She is strong, hot-headed, and has a leap before you think attitude. It also helps that she is the cutest of the mane 6 (in an ironic type of way ).

 

Dashie has shown the most growth as a character throughout the seasons. She has become more open, caring, and receptive to other's feelings. Not just her personality, but her interests have changed as well. She went from only liking flying and speed, to other areas like: Reading, Writing, Musicals, and even secret trips to the Spa . She does have her moments where she goes back to old habits every now and then, but you can always count on RD to be there for you when you need her the most. That is why she is best pony .

 

As for why MLP appeals to me, you have to look at it holistically. In this day and age where the stresses of real life bog us down, it's nice to just unwind and turn to ponies to brighten up my day. Great characters, writing, art, animation, music, and voice acting are just some of the many aspects that make the show so wonderful. I am not afraid to admit that this is my favorite show of all time  .

I like Twilight because we are so similar. Both of us would rather stay at home and organize books than go out and do something most of the time, and I am just as ridiculously into making lists, remaking them, checking them and rechecking them as she is. I get emotional and giddy walking into large libraries being surrounded by books comforts me. Also, despite being open to many different ideas and possibilities, I tend to be very logical and attack it rather skeptically before I openly believe anything out of the ordinary.

 

I like MLP because more often than not lately the world sucks. You basically get up early and go to work slaving away for ungrateful bosses, co-workers and often clients just to make enough money to make a decent living, so that you can afford to keep doing it over and over again. Then you come home, and turn on any form of news and have to often sit through hatred, bigotry, theft, murder, foreign upheavals and political unrest. There are lots of wonderful things out there, but more and more often news sources and people around you seem more determined than ever to try and crush that optimism and make you as miserable, distressed and fearful as they themselves are.

 

I like being able to turn on a show like MLP where violence, aggression and disgust are not the norms. I like to have that short amount of time to play make believe that the world is a brighter more peaceful place to exist, where we can all be different but essential the same where it counts. Where happiness for all is a common goal and not just for those who can afford it. Where magic, adventure and whimsical fantasy exist and not something we just read in books and say if only...

 

MLP is escape, if only for a little while... but in that escape the world becomes a better place. One this one could learn a whole lot from if it were able to look past it's exterior.

Well Rarity's my favorite. Beyond just finding her the most entertaining and consistently well written (and the best voice acted) I love how she just shatters so many of the sterotypes of her archetype, most of the time the fashionista character is basically a vapid selfish airhead. Rarity is deeply loyal to her friends and very brave, incredibly strong willed. She's the element of Generosity and most of the time will put others well before herself (and when she doesn't she basically always ends up feeling bad about it and repenting). She's a smart business savvy and detailed oriented creative who doesn't just like clothes because they make her look good, their her ART. How she expresses her creativity and passion. She's witter and clever and she's the kind of pony who almost never gives up once she has her mind set on something, is incredibly ambitious and knows how to get it... but not at the cost of screwing over those she loves. She's just both an incredibly entertaining and deeply admirable character to me. I don't so much see myself in her as I wish I WAS more like her. She's one of the best examples to me of like a really traditionally feminine character who at the same time is tough as nails and as strong willed as the most manly manly man.

 

In short she's a great and loyal friend, a smart and ambitious business woman. And despite her differences and troubles with it sometimes a great loving and caring sister.

 

She's also changed quite a bit through the series, more than anyone I think her lessons stick and she rarely repeats the same mistakes. And her relationships to specific characters, such as Applejack have had a lot of development as well.


really it's hard for me to stop, there's just so many reasons why I adore Rarity but yeah there you go.

 

 

As for the show overall, beyond you know "Rarity is in it" I like the setting, I like the other characters but ultimately to me it's just I find it to be a good cartoon, I have a passion for animation, and well I like good cartoons. Doesn't really need to get more complicated than that.

I've been waching the show for more than 2 years now and the pony that was my favourite in the beginning was princess Celesta. Now I don't really have a favourite pony in the show as I'm more focused on my OC.

 

Then I started to get strange feelings about the show. Now for some reason I think of the ponies as my own advanced robotic creations. I apparently created them around 25 years from now to try and fix human society for good.

 

Well how MLP appeals to me is like true events that happened around 4200 years from now. It's incredible of how the show somehow completely changed my way of thinking into a format very similar to a future self aware computer operating 100% on binary commands. This actually enabled me to understand absolutely anything. As I see it as a binery command format. I can honestly say that the show has set my life goal.
