Trespassing on ground that FiM already covered, with magic and giving their humans abilities of the pone manes, and them having their own "element stones"?

Is EqG afraid to go against the status quo, and throw us for a loop, like FiM has done?

Equestria Girls may be reusing some aspects of the show but it goes about it in its own fashion. Whereas in Equestria, magic is everywhere and much of it is easy enough to understand by ponies, in the human world, magic is much harder to grasp as it's a force they aren't used to with the exception of Sunset. She knows magic better than anyone but even she has had her problems trying to figure out how it works.

 

I think the three specials coming next year will throw things for a loop given what happened at the end of Legend of Everfree.

HELL YES. FIM has had very little magical girls stuff going on as of late, so the fact that they seem to be embracing that aspect of the show for future EQG movies has me really excited.

I'm good with it. So far, this movie, they've explored one new location in the form of Camp Everfree, so let's hope we'll see more in the upcoming specials, like a beach, or another town. Maybe the girls will even go to their world's version of the grand canyon.

I am really enjoying the focus on magical girl elements that the movies have been having lately. It helps give them an identity outside of FIM, and the ending of LoE has me intrigued in seeing what will happen next.

Well, since this world IS Earth, it would, in fact, be the Grand Canyon.

I've mentioned this in another post, but I don't see the point of EG, except to bring in an audience who don't get into anthros.  If these had nothing to do with MLP, then they'd be fine on their own, but branding them as MLP, doesn't make them MLP.

I dunno, "Legend of Everfree" really left me cold, and the magical girl stuff really isn't what draws me to the series in the first place. Might stop returning to these movies if they continue down that route, but then, maybe it'll be fun. It's just not what I would've preferred, y'know?

I remember watching the original show back before S2 aired, and I remember everyone hyping up the "Magical Girl" aspects of it, only to find out it was only like that for the pilot.

 

I feel like EQG is filling the shoes for that niche, with LOE solidifying that direction
