Hearth's Warming Survey

Everyone seems to believe Hearth's Warming = Christmas. I cannot understand why. Go watch the S2 episode Hearth's Warming Eve.  Now watch the Peanut's Christmas special A Charley Brown Christmas.  The 2 are about as much alike as a banana and a diesel truck. Yes, the more recent episode catered to fans by making HWE more like Xmas, but the original episode was about settling a wilderness & coming together to form a new nation.  That is Thanksgiving, not Xmas.

 

OK, I can see that non USA residents probably don't know much about Thanksgiving but how a USA resident can make that mistake is beyond my comprehension

 

I am resigned to the fact that most of the votes will be for Xmas but I'm an American & firmly believe that if reality doesn't suit me then reality is wrong (It's an American tradition!   )

 Well, way I see it is that its based more around remembrance then anything too specific. Most holidays are. If they had just outright called it Christmas then the audience would have immediately made the connection that Christmas tends to specifically refer to an important event in a specific religion. I can see there being issues with bringing in religion to a kid's show that's supposed to be a bit more vague.

  Hearth's Warming is more about what Christmas is now as opposed to its history that gives the holiday...well, the Christ part of the name. Other then plays, stories and some rather clearly derivative decorations its hard to pin anything specific about this holiday. If there was a feast involved, then yeah, it'd be pretty much Thanksgiving. As it stands now, I'd say its more of like a type of Memorial Day.

 

  ....though I'm still confused as to the difference between Easter & Christmas.
