Do you feel sorry for Diamond Tiara?

I also feel sorry for her. She was raised under these circumstances and it's really hard for a child raised with these values to know better. Children learn their values from their parents first and then later from society. So I feel sorry for her. The moment in the episode "flight to the finish" still stings very much though. For the most part, yes. Don't get me wrong, her actions was completely inexcusable, but compared to Discord's actions, it could've been worse.

No, having problems at home doesn't excuse her belittling and abusing other ponies.

Friendship isn't always easy. But it's definitely worth fighting for.

Why of course I do. Her mother literally used her as a puppet, blinding her into thinking she was entitled, which caused a lot of damage. Some examples include the whole Ponyville Confidential fiasco, the Flight To The Finish situation, and of course, Babs Seed. I'm really glad the CMC helped Diamond realize that she was taking the wrong path, and it was unfortunate that she had to lose a friend in Silver Spoon for her to start realizing that what she was doing was wrong.

Yes. Yes, I do. If anyone was the real bully in the situation, it was her own mother: Spoiled Rich. She molded Diamond Tiara into the entitled, ruthless, rich bully that has caused trouble for the CMC time and again, and it wouldn't be until having lost the election in Crusaders of the Lost Mark along with her own best friend that she had hit the lowest point of her young life and that something was truly wrong with her.

I cry all the time, when she sings that beautiful song!

"The pony I want to be" is a magical song that changes and erases all past evil, and heals all the bullied victims.

Kinda, I can understand why she would bully others from her backstory and the kind of parents she grew up with

It's one of those debatable things.

In her last episode, it is shown that her mother had been pushing her to feel superior to everypony else.

However, that is in contrast to her father, who has always pushed her to appreciate and cooperate with the other ponies, and, well, literally EVERY other example she sees is of more healthy relationships.

So then we see "reformed" Diamond Tiara and... she is still being manipulative and bossy, but isn't being pointlessly cruel or mean, but instead uses positive reinforcement and rewards to get what she wants.  So how reformed is she? she clearly still wants to be "in charge" but she ALSO wants all the benefits of being part of the herd, which her previous behaviour had been setting herself apart from. We only see a limited number of overt acts - she uses her father's money to buy some new equipment, she helps her former friend to repair a fence (a fairly allegorical act) and she sings the CMC's praises a bit.  That really isn't a lot after all she has done, but... sadly, despite her episode being roughly halfway though the entire run of FiM, we never really see her again other than as a background pony - her arc has run its course, and she no longer gets focus.   In the comics, there is an entire CMC spinoff series - Spirit of the Forest - where Diamond is shown in a positive light... although she also has personal reasons for her acts there too, I am fine with her doing good things for selfish reasons, however.

So yeah. it is hard to NOT feel sorry for Diamond Tiara after her tear-jerker of a song, and feel glad that she has finally gotten the idea of how to be part of the herd. But she also needs to be watched carefully, lest we end up with another Cozy Glow when she gets older.

Diamond Tiara's parents are rich snobs who don't treat her well, so yeah, it got to a point in the series where I no longer saw her as just some one dimensional bully character. She was a jerk who crossed the line multiple times, but I feel sorry for her. There's something very human about her, and by that I mean her depth as a character that makes her more than a mean kid. She was awful toward the other youngsters, but she wasn't inherently bad. She was influenced by her family. And the CMC ended up reconciling with her after a while, which made her a better pony moving forward.

Diamond Tiara's character arc is mostly inconsequential in the series because she's a side character who doesn't show up all the time. But she still grows and as the series goes on, if you're paying attention, you learn why she is the way she is. And that's good writing for a recurring side character in my opinion.

I understand why others do and why you would feel sorry for her in general, but I don't personally.

I don't really feel sorry for her but I guess I understand why she acted the way she did given context about her mother etc. Though she did choose to act that way when she could've been nicer on her own accord.

I have mixed emotions

I suppose you could argue it was more behaviour she was taught or picked up/mirrored from her mother.

That and pressure to act a certain way.
