Need guide for The Witcher books

Hi guys, I've just finished The Witcher 3, but just found out that at least 6 books have been officially translated to english since the release of the first Witcher game (I was led to believe they were still untranslated). Thing is, I need guide for the books in question, mainly:

Are they only 8, or just 8 novels but several more short stories?

 

PD: as far as I've seen, Witcher is good inspiration material for pony fics

I am not sure about how english translations work, but let mw five You a short description. 

First it'd be best to begin with books called Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish. They contain all the short stories about Geralt and give some information that may later help while reading the saga itself (which is made of the rest of books except for Season of Storms).

Season of Storms takes place before the rest of books and was released somewhere after Witcher 2. Tbh You don't really need to get that book. It is pretty average when compared to the rest, to the point, where I feel like it is just a cashgrab, because Sapkowski (the author) is constantly complaining about games and denies their role in gaining popularity. Overall those are good books written by a jerk, but... it's not what topic is about  

Anyway, I hope it will help You. I can't tell much about translations though - I am lucky enough to be Polish, so I never had to look after those. I am pretty sure that all of The Witcher books were translated to english after it gained wide attention abroad

Man, that won't help me much. As you wrote, you're lucky to be polish, so you'd get all the fun. Here in america however, I think 6 out of the 8 books have been released. Question is: Are they all short stories? Or there are also novels and short stories among them?

2 of 8 books are just made of bunch of short stories as I said. Titles mentioned in post before. The rest are long novels that make up Witcher saga, which is basically a story about Geralt finding Ciri. I find it odd, according to wikipedia all the books got their translation  by now  Aren't they availible on sites like Amazon etc?

Oh, now I understand about the short stories. Well, about the books, I've checked that info at TVtropes that 6 have been localized, but since that's like the wikis where everyone edit the info, that was probably outdated :huh:. Oh well, I don't have time to check fully anyway, S7 of our favorite horses, plus I'm about to move to Orlando, so lots of work to do. I'll check once stuff settle down

I am glad I could help, I highly recommend getting the books, once You get some more free time. They are pretty great IMO and due to heavy slav mythology influences are very different from most fantasy stuff. I hope You'll enjoy them as much as I did <3

Visited my local Barnes n Noble bookstore. I've seen most, if not all the 8 Witcher books there. What disappoints me though, is that the covers are bland, and unappealing. Oh well, the contents is what matters right?

Yeah, polish Witcher books aren't outstanding with their covers neither. At least in my opinion. They could use well made artworks like the ones I have on my Lovecraft stories. But the content is good, You are right on that ^^ I hope You will enjoy the read ^^
