Are the writers pushing Starlight too hard?

I heard somebody said Starlight is Twilight's imaginary friend due to how she is like non-existence outside of her episodes in S6

It is a fun theory, though the new episode does douse it a little due to the lack of Purple Smart. Unless ... it's contagious!

Season 6 was when Starlight was being pushed, but in all the wrong ways. Season 6 barely showed her character in a good light, minus the finale and they showed too much of her doing overpowered magic stuff. So far, season 7 is handling the entire thing infinitely better. Starlight is being shown more from a simple angle. Having her make friends with Maud and their interactions is, to me, the best thing they have done with her so far. If they keep that going and do more stuff like that, I wouldn't mind her getting more spotlight. I am completely fine with introducing new main characters, just as long as they have a good purpose and Starlight might be getting that purpose now.

I think the shifting focus might be a good thing. Lately Starlight's been one of the most likeable characters on the show and seeing her form her own friendships with ponies so different from the Mane 6 (like Trixie) is a lot of fun. That said, it does seem like the Mane 6 themselves are becoming caricatures of what they once were and I'm not sure how much I like that. Starlight now is more like they used to be.

siiiiiigh. after seeing the way they're attempting to shoehorn Starlight into the EQG special, with Sunset returning to equestria, and bringing SG back to the human world,  just backs my op.

I said it before, if Starlight triggers you so much, don't watch the show. She won't be leaving anytime soon.

There is a big difference between criticizing and whining and crying all the time.
