To be honest, it's off to a pretty miserable start... I've only really only enjoyed watching two of the nine episodes so far (Celestial Advice and Fluttershy Leans In)... :/

I really hope there are actually good episodes coming, because I have a feeling I might lose interest in the show if this trend of  Hasbro releasing subpar and bad episodes continues. The main problem for me is the (sorry if I offend you somehow with this, though I shouldn't be worth getting offended over...) cringe factor. I feel like most of the episodes in the season have been cringy to varying degrees... "Hard to Say Anything" is narrowly easier to watch than Gen 3 episodes... By narrowly, I mean basically not...

According to this list right here, there are going to be more good episodes coming our way.

They've been doing relatively okay up until these last two episodes, but I'm still bracing myself for that other shoe to fall.

Season six was devastatingly abysmal in the writing department. The plots were terribly cliche, the dialogue was shoveled full of Shyamalan levels of awkward exposition, and characters were reduced to caricatures of themselves more often than not. What's worse, these new writers barely even seem familiar with the source material beyond some cliffnotes they had on a sticky note. This of course had a few exceptions, like Saddle Row Review, but such exceptions were few and far between and only made the terrible episodes that much more apparent. As far as I'm concerned its worse than Season 3.

So with that train-wreck of a season leading into this one, I've been bracing for the bad. Aside from the last two episodes, nothing was outright anger inducing. It was inoffensively okay. Not the best praise one could give to a show, but with how utter shit season 6 its at least an improvement. These last two though, well lets just say my roommate who is also an avid MLP fan couldn't even FINISH the Applejack one, and he liked season 6 more than I did.

I will say, if Season 7 turns out more bad episodes than good like season 6 does, then I'm just dropping the series. So many other good shows are out there actually giving a damn about what they write, and its just making mlp look that much lazier by comparison. Step your game up writers.

According to the directors, they're probably going to put in more good episodes as time goes on.

We can't know those episodes will be any good until they air. I think most of them could easily go sour. I'm keeping my expectations moderate.

How do you say that? I mean, we don't even had synopsis for most of the episodes coming out, just names. There's a good chance its going to stay about the same quality level, its not like there's different writers for the second half than the first.

rather agree, right now about the only pony thing I'm really interested in is the movie. This season has just been bleh so far.

its really sad when freaking EQUESTRIA GIRLS feels like the mane six are more in character than the actual pony versions of themselves.

Once-a bloody gain, Wait until the episodes actually come out before you give your opinion on the future episodes. For now, focus on the current episodes.

Well i have; and the current episodes are pretty firmly in the mud of "meh" territory. The only episode that I truly think was up to snuff of previous seasons was a flurry of emotion; the rest generally ran from "Average" to "bad". Like the last two episodes we got this weekend. Hard to say anything and Honest apple were about 6/10s, but nothing really to write home about, and pretty solidly mediocre.

Like I said above, its really sad when the Human versions of them feel more fleshed out and in character than their pony selves (The mane six were better characterized and done in the recent EQG special than most of this season)

Look at the bright side. At least Rainbow Rocks was good.

Good in comparison to the other Eqg movies. Really when you stack it up against what other animated shows are doing its barely passable.

It is good so far. Same old fun cartoon we have had since Season 1. A couple of weak episodes recently, but we get a few of those every season, so no big deal.

Only with an alicorn within the mane 6, which makes it somewhat better

From the episodes in the second poll, I'm looking forward to all episodes except "Not Asking for Trouble". The main reason I'm getting hyped for the 5 I've voted for is that each episode on the list focuses on a different group of characters; so I get to see a wide variety of characters. The character involved are listed in the spoiler box

Spoiler

A Royal Problem- Starlight, Celestia, Luna

Discordant Harmony-Discord, Fluttershy

The Perfect Pear- The Apple Parents

Fame and Misfortune- Twilight and who knows who else

Triple Threat- Spike, Thorax, Ember

I've liked all of them, except Fluttershy Leans In, quite a bit actually. I think my favourites are All Bottled Up and Rock Solid Friendship because I'm starting to really like Starlight and I think those were some great episodes for developing her character. I also quite like Hard to Say Anything and find it weird that it's getting so much hate, I just think it's nice to see Big Mac finally get an official love interest.

I have enjoyed this season thus far! My favorite was A Flurry of Emotions, with Rock Solid Friendship following close behind. The only one I sort of didn't like was Fluttershy Leans In. Felt a bit fast in the conflict and resolution, but not boring to watch.

And Hard to Say Anything was hilarious!

Spoiler

I was especially entertained by the three mares following Featherbutt(I can never remember his name, but I suppose everyone will know which pony I'm talking about), because they were references to the three Bimbettes that followed Gaston around in Beauty and the Beast. :) The colors aren't exact, but the hairstyles are a dead ringer!

This is an appropriate and healthy view. Some of the episodes coming up do contain possible HUGE character episodes that if they fail at, could be agony for some who have waited ages for that type of story.

I enjoy this season, but even the ones I've liked had a few glaring oddities that, while not harming the episode, held it back. Out of the ones we've gotten ... I loved half of them, liked the other half ... and one was a good idea completely botched.

Hard to Say Anything is why I'm taking a wait and see approach on the rest of the season. That should have been a rather simple episode to get right ... so concern about the Royal Sisters episode or AJ's parents story is justified as they represent a higher degree of difficulty.

Yeah, that was a bummer. My consolation is that now I am free to ship Cheerilee at will without guilt.

And for someone like me who has only enjoyed two of the nine episodes so far, I don't see any reason to get my hopes up. Maybe the rest of the season will make up for the thoroughly dull first half, but it's hard to say.

*Nods*

Would be nice if we knew who wrote some of the upcoming episodes. Some of the writers this season have issues with restraint. Pinkie Pie and Applejack are one thing, but can you imagine the mess that would come from a poorly interpreted Luna and Celestia.
