general If you had the choice, what time period would you chose to be born in?

I'm happy with when I was born.

The most freedoms and opportunities are accessible to me than in any other time.

My uncle said that in the 80's he had to deal with hella racist white people.

Also I'm queer so like yea. No other time than when I was actually born.

No idea about the future, so going to just work with the timeframe we know about. I was born in the late 90's and I wouldn't want to go any further back within modern times. Social and technological progress are nice

There is something to be said about being a Neolithic hunter-gatherer though. While I like modern tech if I were born back then I wouldn't know it ever existed so I wouldn't miss it. Just doing stuff humans are built to do, instead of modern day tasks that make my ape brain sad. I think I'd honestly be pretty happy with that.

A choice I would possibly make is to have lived a significant portion of my life before WW1 in the United States (possibly to have been born in the 1860s?). The majority of the European world was still under Monarchy, even countries with Democracy had limited suffrage, and much of the elites were still adhered to Liberal values. However, this would mean that much of what I regard highly would die out with WW1 and particularly by WW2 if I were to live that long: the rise of secularism, the proportion of the population eligible to vote would increase within Democracies, decline of Monarchies throughout Europe to be replaced by Democracies many of which would then become totalitarian, the birth of the welfare state which will do much to destroy social bonds people once had, the rise of Socialism throughout the 20th century and the death of Liberalism within the US itself, the downfall of the gold standard to be replaced by fiat currency, etc.

I do not view the present-day West to be or to be approximating the apex of civilization; on the contrary, I see it as a civilization that has been dying since WW1.

Alternatively, if there is a future where all governments have collapsed or at the very least decentralized to a very great extent that there are nearly a million micro countries around the world about the size of Liechenstein, then that is the world in which I wish to live. The governments or private law societies that exist then would be the most greatly pressured to fulfill the wishes of their citizens/consumers as they are competing against nearly a million other countries (instead of only about 200 today). Some micro countries would be very socially Progressive so to speak and others may strictly adhere to medieval culture, some may be ethnically homogeneous and others heterogeneous, some may be concerned about preserving the particular cultures of their citizens/consumers and others may be more hands-off, etc. If one of these micro-countries were to become tyrannical, the scope of that tyrannical regime would be extremely limited.

Of course the 24th century ^-^ But seriously I'm really fine with the time I was born in. Nothing is perfect, but if I look into the past ..  I'm really happy to live at the current time.  It would be maybe interesting to explore different centuries, but  I really don't want to live in them. I'm also really grateful for be born in the 80's. I'm old enough to know the before everything went digital and young enough to be able to work smoothly with these technologies.
